Everyone is different therefore, they take things differently. God wants you to go by faith, so if you strongly feel in your heart, that you believe God says this, or that, than act on it. Most people are atheist because we're in century which requires valid evidence to believe, we're skeptical of others and myths and books, there are hundreds of different religions out there, and no way of knowing which is true apart from faith, which makes many lean towards atheism. Back when we lived ignorant of the rest of the world it was easier to believe, but modern knowledge makes it harder.
