hey im happy with my xbox.

i get skyplayer, netlick, love film and tons of music apps so as far as entertainment goes im more than happy with the xbox.

i can easily wait another couple years if thats what it's going to be for the next xbox, the voice control on the kinect is fantastic and the bing search has improved the over all practicality of the xbox

way to go MS, i don't like vista but i fucking love what you guys have done with my xbox.£35 a year and £5 a month for netflicks is fine by me

@PunjabiPain nope. Sony's not releasing a PS4, so there's no threat of competition. And Microsoft only just recently released an updated 360 console, not to mention the company itself seems to be busy enough promoting Kinect and Windows 8. There's no need for an Xbox 720 today, and there won't be for another 2-3 years at the earliest.

@ashman18874 what's coming from Microsoft is the cheap Xbox with small hardrive and integrated kinect. Then a bigger blu-ray Xbox with a terabyte of space, true HD and a PVR so you can record program's to your Xbox that comes in through an aerial or streaming. Xbox is going to become a media console, not a games console.

Going to laugh when Microsoft tries to sell you on a streaming game console. Remember those rumors of a smaller, cheaper 360? Probably true. They are the ones that are likely not going to enter the next gen.

@radioactiverice8 - I am following what they're doing, I saw those "future vision" videos, and lab "insider" videos of their engineers at work and I think it's amazing. In fact, I think Kinect was made in those labs primarily for their needs and then someone thought it might be a good way to bump Xbox 360 sales. Of course, we got the "weaker" version. I want it to evolve on as much fields as possible, but using it the way it was presented in CES is nothing that new or amazing. That's all :).

@ItsIllusionZ, @radioactiverice8 - lol. I am all for kinect expanding. But is this the way it's expanding? Nah. Kinect needs to receive a serious upgrade and, hopefully, when Win SDK gets released in february, that's exactly what'll happen. I am all for it but I loathe the way it's implemented in games now and that's what it's primarily marketed as - a VIDEO GAME CONSOLE ACCESSORY. @TwilightSparkle - I realize that, and I know that they want money but it's still lame disregarding games.

@NebitnoJee haha well, i dont think you give microsoft enough credit for what they're doing. there's quite a bit of remarkable research and development projects concerning the kinect. even awhile back they announced a robotics competition using the kinect. they're also looking into when the device is integrated into windows, how it might be used as a 3d modeling tool. but i do agree with you the kinect needs a SERIOUS upgrade

My idea could give them a SOC that could beat 10-30 intel 980's in FLOPS, graphics about 1 to 1.5 GTX 580, but faster with HW control. upgradeable to CGI level graphics around 2020.

@daleskill1 AMD's new cores would work just the same. A high end fusion could be made with DDR5 or XDR2 and a better interconnect.. drop in some ARMv8 cores. Sure AMD is a fine choice now. x86 has too much baggage for a console with a watt limit. AMD being lower power has advantages too.

Asymmetric functionality(cell like) could push it's functionality to 2025 and AMD already has the other 2 function, as GPU on SOC and assistive of added GPU.

@daleskill1 Also I'll bet AMD's micro stutter problems are fixed. VLIW was very loose and bursty. I'm betting that was the main cause of the problem and not drivers. I guess we will see. GCN is much better and has more applications.. HPC, better fusion products, more stable frame rates in games.. ext

Even if AMD doesn't get a console.. A high end heterogeneous chip could clobber intel by orders of magnitude with good coding.
