I have an 83 308 quattrovalvole and there is no way this kit will fool a real Ferrari owner. It is way too short, the front looks nothing like the real thing and the headlights are way too big. I seriously don't know why anyone would waste their time putting one of these things together, there is no comparison to the real thing.
I have on thing to say to those that are bashing a replica. A Fiero with a 3800SC motor will smoke an original 308. I would love to get a good looking 308 kit and put it on a Fiero. Less money and a faster car than the original Ferarri.
Yeah, the back of most well done 308's look very good! The front of these 308's really do need more TLC 4 sure. But that can be re-worked if u have the money. The customer that ordered the car i now have wanted a more 328 style hood on the front, hence less grill. Thanx 4 ur comment....
@bugernet I share your opinion totally abt the front. You mentioned "re-working the front if you have money". Does that mean that there are any ready-designed modifications one can buy, or was the reworking you metioned meant that one has to carry it out on his own from scratch?
The back looks amazing, but the front grille by the bonnet looks needless and you can tell pretty quickly its a replica just from that part. There needs to be more grilles above the front lights.
Come to think of it, you CAN buy a brand new real 308GTS. Guy I know in Westerville ohio has one with no miles and never been titled from dealer. Hes a big Ferrari / Lancia collector.
I cant remember the street name hes on but its right off of Harlem Rd, almost in New Albany. Lots of high rollers live in the neighborhood (Wexner for example). He has a 2 story warehouse FULL of parts and cars. He has 2 original (one restored) Lancia Stratos that raced in LeMans. He has another building there thats almost a Ferrari museum. Even the Dublin Ferrari dealer buys parts from him they cant find anywhere else. Like me, maybe he just likes Ohio....;)
A few years ago, i tried to get the local Fiero club to go over for a guided tour, but no one was interested. He gladly shows the stuff off with an appointment. Ive been there in person. He had asked me about painting the other Stratos for him. I bought some unavailable parking lites from him. His Name is Dennis McCanne.
Bravo on the kit, I prefer stock but I can appreciate a nice kit or build and this is a beautiful one.
I guess I have to chime in on the Ferrari/Fiero thing: I'll take a kit, I don't beleive in paying for a name, I know Ferrari's are nice but I don't have the money and I would like to be able to drive it. The ore expensive/ valuable it is the less you want to drive it daily.
I had a Fiero that I built with a Ferrari body kit and I loved it. Mine had a highly modified 3.1 V6 with turbo and I outran a few real ones...embarrassing them. I can buy whatever I please and I chose building mine as to buying even a new 308. Ive owned 8 planes and an air charter/limo business. I can afford whatever I want. Now I have a $70K SuperBee and bought a 70 challenger at Barrett-Jackson yesterday. You buy what you want (prob Civics :).) and the Fiero guys will buy what they want.
Learn the facts? All of sudden this ALL about performance? Did I mention performance? Jesus. You can argue performance until you're blue in the face, but in 10 years you'll still have a bastardized heap worth a fraction of what you invested. End of story. I've written far more controversial gab than this; and bugernet, I wouldn't lose sleep if you had bought it from my neighbor. Any fool can start a quarrel? Omg...enjoy your "hobby".

For $30-40K you can own a REAL 308. Would you rather own a bastardized Pontiac, or a Ferrari? Naturally, the genuine article is more expensive to maintain, but that's part of owning one of the most elite nameplates in the world. The idea of trying to pass off a Fiero as a FERRARI is just embarrassing.
there r all kinds of knock offs. shoes, suits, purses, dresses, even 100k rolex watch. this is a hobby i know of several people that have owened real Ferrari's and have sold them to build a kitcar cuz they got tired of paying up to 8k just for a brake job and their 308 leaving them stranded on the side of the road 1 2 many times. if u don't like my car then use ur mouse and change the channel.
And if you slather enough icing on a turd it'll look a cake. Whoever these people are that were shortsighted enough to sell their Ferraris for FIEROs had no business owning Ferraris in the first place. That's just asinine. Would you wear a fake Rolex? Armani shoes? Passing off anything for something it's not speaks to a person's character.
Ur interests & hobbies r Design,Writing & Gaming.i think thats great and i hope u do enjoy these things. instead of letting millions of people see u bash a stupid car with ur words y don't u write sum-thing and post it so all us Y/T's can enjoy ur writing interests. What i find odd is i bought this car from the very state in which u live! Remember "Avoiding a fight is a mark of honor" "any fool can start a quarrel"
I owned a real Ferrari and I sold it build a Kit. I am much happier with my Kit then I was ever with my real Ferrari. I am not trying to pass it off to anyone as a REAL Ferrari. I always love to tell people its a kit. Most people don't believe me, and I think thats a big compliment to my work.
Could you be any more retarded? The '86 Fiero GT beat the '81 Ferrari 308GTSi in 0-60, 1/4 mile, skidpad, and gas mileage. The 308 had 65 more hp, and weighed 472 lbs more... Talk about embarrassing. Combine better engineering with easily replaceable parts, and a Fiero based 308 replica makes perfect sense. Learn the facts before you run your mouth. Idiot.
Wow! i kno a lot about Ferraries and Fieros but i didn't kno the info RE: 86 Fiero vs the 81 Ferrari,Thank u Fieroboom! See FX4710 i just learned sum-thing new and ur an educator? if ur gonna slam sum 1- 4 sum-thing they like or enjoy at least educate ur-self first!
So you want me to pay 30-40 thousand for a slower car that costs more then a brand new chevy aveo to replace the brakes. instead of 2000 cash for a running fiero thats quicker then it anyways? Please take you elite name tag and shove it up your ass.
Embarrassing to whom? Owning a Ferrari is a personal choice, just as the choice to own a kit car. Unless you believe that owning a car somehow has magical proprerties that change who you are, why would you be embarrassed? OH - do you mean that making a kit car that costs 1/10th of the price and outperforms the original is embarrasing to the Ferrari owners? I get it now. Sorry to be thick. ;)
I've seen it happen! these 2 dumb, dunbs pulled up to a guy in a Mondial cab and said nice fiero! i really enjoy building kits but i still have respect for the real deal.
FX4710 has what i call a Y/T bashing channel. He has nothing of real value or interest 2 offer! he should keep 2 the say'n "if u don't have anything good 2 say ,than don't say it"
A body shop will charge $60.00 to $100.00 an hour for labor alone. a great paint job could run from $2,000 to $4,000 (just 4 paint)u will need to buy a working, running fiero, complete body kit,rims/tires,shipping cost and so on.if u have a shop build a car it can cost as little as $15,000 to $30,000,It's all about how good u want the car 2 look! and how much money u have 2 spend.
Fiero's r easy 2 find.any body shop can build the car 4 u. the only thing is it's way cheaper to buy one finished. 4 example my car cost $15,000 to build but the market will only pay $7,500 to 11,000.
Thank u very much!My kit was professionaly built by I.R.M. it's nice to see people appreciate the work that goes into building one of these cars.Thanx again.......

I could have bought a new 308 in 1977, which is what I modeled my kit after.
I own a Ferrari/porsche/mercedes body repair shop. No one said I could buy a new one today. 328 was last one i liked at all from Ferrari.
