I know this video is about passing the half guard and thats cool..... But do you think he should have highlighted the Kimura submission as well just to vary up his options?? Cool pass none the less
when you have the arm caught and move up the side control,is that a nice control where you just keep that arm there and not move to under the head,or should you try to go for the under the head control? thanks!
The bridge doesn't work from here because Renato's weight is on the other guy's chest ( not his hips ) and he is controlling with his right arm and applying shoulder pressure as well. If his right arms does not do the control and weight distribution correctly as shown in this video, then yes, he will swept or thrown off.
@IMnotSAS Probably not, since essentially Renato is essentially in side mount. If you see most half guard escapse they look similar essentially making it look like some sort of side mount for control.
does anyone ever have a hard time doing things like locking the other guys arm down towards his head and hold with back of your elbow? things like that? It seems like the stronger guys can always muscle there arms downs etc etc....im starting to wonder if strength makes a huge diff or if my technique just blows lol....you know what i mean? i never muscle anythng and can always use technique on guys my strength but guys who are beasts, i have a hard time with certain traps and moves etc etc
this same pass still works. Lockdown is nothing more than standard half-guard with a foot trap(the ankle to ankle hook) it provides more control than standard half-guard but its really the same position. I have more problems passing a good long-distance half-guard than I do a lockdown honestly. Push the ankle trap foot down you'll pass no problem. Submissions101 actually has videos on it check them out.
i LEARN THIS PASS BUT i LEARN IT AS WHEN YOU BRING THE KNEE IN CLOSE YOU PUT IT UP ON HIS HIP HE SAYS BRING IT TO HIS HIP TIGHT JUST MY OPINION I THINK THE KNEE YOU BRING IN SHOULD BE UP ON HIS HIP (SITTING ON TOP) PINS HIM MORE
