I am a giant "fan" and have studied Zombie's for the past 3 years of my life. I have found, 3 realistic, and somewhat helpful ways to identify theese things, and if we could keep in touch about this, I could supply you with very V.I.P. Information.
Id rather have a horse, bikes are really good and more quiet but horses can go with you in more harsh terrain. Id preferr to stay away from roads since zombies would linger towards more populated areas.
@xPValldayx Very true. and not to argue with you, but if you have a bike you "can" pick it up and walk with it. Not ideal, but it works. With a horse, your kinda limited. I mean for sure, your not expending energy and it would be faster than a bike, but it's still succeptable (sorry, can't spell to save my life) to injury, dehydration, sickness, and then theirs the issue of fuel for the horse. Me personaly, i'd go for the bike. But valid point about roads.
If you are an accomplished bicycle rider (hills don't bother you, decent endurance) and are able to do periodic basic maintenance etc, I'd go with the bicycle
@superfisto A point not addressed by ZS in response to your question is the risk of the horse becoming a member of the shambling undead.
In a fast-zombie scenario that's certain death. In a slow-zombie scenario it's simply harder to kill.
Both risks are eliminated with the use of a bicycle.
Of course, the risk is only from being so close to one. If horses are susceptible you'll have to deal with them either way. It's something to consider though.

Tough question.
Horses: much faster than a bicycle, don't exert your personal energy to operate and could double as a food source.
Bicycles: much lower maintenance than a horse and are more predictable.
Zombie Squad recommends a horse with roller skates or a maybe hairy bicycle that smells bad.
