Sure the technique is important and can also inspire, but it all comes down to the music, what you hear, and how the sound, the audio makes you feel, how it inspires you, there is no doubt that this band is amazing and the music they produce are AMAZING. If you continually think "within the box" your not living, he who is not busy living is busy dying.
Oh man this is really stunning! Sometimes I wonder how I can forget about Fred Frith's genius for some time. This is paling a LOT of other avantgardish/experimentalish music; this has content so intense that it can't be missed! Wouldn't it be great if Fred did something together with drummer Jim Black? Or did they already??? They would explode each other!
these trolls that come on here and say this stuff "blows" are clueless to Frith's as well as Laswell and Hayward's extensive discographies and many different musical directions they've taken over the years
@EndlessNot1 I'm glad to be quite clueless to Frith's extensive discography and his different musical directions which shifted over the years from pretentious to downright boring.
@1ndi64 Look man, we've got this exact thing here previously several times at the chazuke . We release a video of relevance, in this case the Bladerunner Paris stuff, and within few hours after it's gone online, someone like you comes along and lets go all his frustration and jealousy. Nobody knows YOUR wrongful motivation, but - the last guy who performed the exact same pattern of behavious apologized within less than 24 hurs and was on his knees asking deletion of his nonsense comment.
@chazuke I don't know who the other guy was... but I'm asking on my bended knees for the deletion of this video. Why can't people do something exciting, meaningful... I can do some fiddling and plinkety-plonk any time... Look at Pink Floyd, they had improvising sequences too but it was embedded in exciting song structures. All this plinkety-plonk leaves me cold. Oh yeah it's supposed to be modern and avantgardistic... but it's no fun to listen to.
@1ndi64 Well fair enough, I'm entertained. Keep it up, man, do start to or keep on making and posting great music and posting good and meaningful comments. I can accept and live with any opinion.
@1ndi64 Perhaps you just never felt what they are expressing. Many people Like to think and perform "outside" of "exciting song structures".after you play for a long time structures sometimes aren't helpful in describing or doing what you want to do.
It's good to see these guys playing again as Massacre, but its nothing like the original band. I guess that was 30 years ago. This does blow compared to the 1980 album- Killing Time. Plus, No Fred Maher, which is a more suited drummer.
i have seen massacre live several times in the early 80s and they were one of the great avant garde rock roll bands to come out of lower manhattan

If Youtube pulled music videos simply because someone didn't like what they heard there would be nothing left on the site.

So extremely amateur compared to the real greats like Henry cow. This stuff blows.

@newexperiment oh - you mean like the band Frith was IN. lol

@newexperiment um....you DO realize fred was IN henry cow, yes? and there are many reasons why he chose to do this "amateur" stuff
