  • people are confused because we were part of the Warsaw pact(eastern block) back in the days of Cold war, well thats the past, welcome, in the present.

  • Yip thats correct its Central-Europe just to be precise

  • @Pocok4 not according to the UN

  • @talara18

the UN can do me a favour, check wikipedia, or any other Encyclopedia:)

  • @talara18 wikipedia is full of sh*t, even the BBC refers to you as eastern Europe, in the media you are seen as Eastern Europeans

  • @talara18

wikipedia isnt full of shit, there are sources wich you can double check, what are your sorces, BBC? you can do better than that come on:)

Your private opinion isnt that intresting really.

  • The CIA World Factbook describes HUNGARY as geographically located in Central Europe!!!

  • Hungarian, Finnish and Basque are the only non-Indo-European languages of europe.

  • @anubis2814 Don't forget Estonian! Checking out my back library? You must be REALLY bored! Heehee. I'm about to watch your latest vid now.

  • @anubis2814 And Estonian ;)

Estonian Hungarian and Finnish are relatet languages ;) I am from Estonia and i can understand some of the words then there are the same in Estonian ;)

  • I'm not trolling you, swear. Just wanted to answer one of your questions. Yes, I understood a *little* of the ad because my dad is 2nd generation Hungarian-American. His parents, though born in the US, spoke Hungarian and their parents, my great-grands ONLY spoke Hungarian. Since we went to visit the elders often, it was either learn or spend the entire time walking around in a confused fog. :D

  • @swordnquil Heh, no worries. What the heck did the ad say, then?

  • Nice.

  • @thedinkieghost Thanks! You can get there eventually too if you wish. It's pretty reasonably priced once you actually get there.

  • @andrassygilicze croatia was always an indepence land of hungary

  • Your holiday was very boring!

    Horses, paprikas, OMG, WTF.

and what happened in the sex shop?

  • @pimpakutya Hehheh, I'm married, so only so much is going to happen! We didn't go to the sex shop, but when we were in Prague, we did go to the "Sex Machine Museum!" Hah!

  • @Zaunstar the WHAT??? Never knew Prague had such things :)

  • Yes, I knew that, but thanks for pointing it out. *:-)

  • Oh, and quick note on the empire: Hungary was its own empire pre-Mongol invasion (I think 1241), and then again until the Ottoman Turks vanquished it at the Battle of Mohacs (1526 if memory serves). After 1683 and the second Siege of Vienna (by the Turks), the Austrians pushed the Ottomans out of Hungary (I believe 1699). The Austro-Hungarian Empire was a dual-monarchy solution in the 19th century to Hungarian nationalism.

  • I'm simply green with envy! Hungary is such a fascinating country with a rich history. Note on the language: you are correct, it is Central Asian, brought in by the Magyars. Hungarian is Uralic, more precisely Finno-Ugric, so it's at least distantly related to Finnish but unrelated to the Indo-European tongues i.e., Germanic, Slavic, Romance, Celtic etc.

  • Yes, I know, it's really quite fascinating! I have a Finnish friend though, and he can't understand Hungarian at ALL. Heh.

  • Haahaaa I'm from Hungary, this was a very interesting video thanks!:D:D

  • Cool, glad you liked it! I greatly enjoyed your country and I hope to return someday.

  • Very Good video!

    5*****

  • Thanks! We enjoyed the country.

  • Justice must prevail. It will prevail.

For the sake of Hungary, for the sake of Europe!

  • i did , understood everything they have said about chio chips .... :))) can`t you ... hehh hehh

  • Also it was Admiral Horthy, the only axis power leader who was never charged with any crimes after the war.He died peacefully in Estoril in 1957. In his exile he was supported by many hungarian jews who were grateful for his actions during the nazi occupation. He stopped the deportations and beacuse of this Hitler placed him under arrest in Germany, his son was kidnapped and sent to a camp. Another fact. But what would you care about them anyways...?

  • He was not tried because he ran away from the country. Jews supported him? Maybe Zionists and former capitalists. In Hungary, Jewish policies were the same as in Germany.

My father lived in Hungarian occupied Slovak land. Remember the Hungarians shooting kids for fun, throwing a grenade in the house while they retreated(burning and killing anyone in sight as they ran like rats from the Soviets and Slovak partisans).

    Don't justify fascism.

  • @SEFARAD2K4 The hungarian regent Nicholas Horthy was only called to the Nurenberg War Trials as a witness!!! Upon giving his statement he was free to go, actually the government of the United States stood fully behind him and they even helped to arrange his move to Portugal. Every axis power leader was either tried and jailed or executed except admiral Horthy, the leader of wartime Hungary!!! Tiso, your SLOVAK NAZI LEADER, Antonescu the ROMANIAN NAZI LEADER, Mussolini, Hitler, etc., etc.,

  • @SEFARAD2K4 your slovak daddy never lived in "hungarian occupied" slovak land. He lived in Hungary as a slovak. Hungary has an 11oo year old statehood, it was a multi-ethnic state which he was a member and citizen of. Slovakia as far as I know has a 2o year old history. It was created after the breaking up of the artificial contraction called "czechoslovakia"(1990's). You slovaks were the first to introduce anti-jewish pogroms in central-europe. The slovak-nazi Tiso was a loyal puppy to Hitler.

  • @SEFARAD2K4 You are from the States, so how about packing up and moving back to europe, 'cause the indians were here long before you slovak intuders!

    Ha-Ha-Ha!

You are full of shit bro'...

Following your slovak logic the USA should be immediately broken up and given back to the native indians. You slovaks sent home to your beloved homeland!!! How do you like the idea?! lol

  • See, it was this easy to contradict you.

I used your own "logic" against you and you freaked out. Can you do any better than this? lol

Stop shitting on your ancestors homeland... You should be grateful instead! You don't see me shitting on slovakia, I believe the Carpathian Basin belongs to all the people who collectively built it. I am of course not so convinced that it should also belong to those who never ever put anything on the table...

  • Hungarians built a country for themselves, you "slovaks" were obviously not that great building one for yourselves! You preferred to steal what others created. You are not alone in that, don't worry! The "history" of slovakia could be easily sent over in a SMS text message, it is that extensive... LOL

I already explained it to you how your "logic" of first come-first served doesn't work in history and I also told you why. You are a "slovak" so you don't seem to get it...

  • More jews survived in Hungary than anywhere else in nazi occupied europe. It is just a fact. Of course you can twist it in and out. You guys expert in that. :DDD

  • Yank, its an Uralic language, they originate from around the Volga, not Central Asia. You sound like a complete idiot, aka typical Yank. Stay home and don't make such a degenerate of yourself.

  • Don't hurt him, his intention was good....and now he knows!

  • Safarad2k4, you should relax. I LIKED Hungary and Hungarians. You should have understood that, if you saw the whole video I made. Nobody forced me to make a video about how much I liked the country!

Apparently "central Asian" is some kind of racial slur that I was not aware of. I don't see it as an insult, and most Americans would not see it as such, but like I already said, if it is a local insult, I obviously never meant it that way since I obviously like the country.

  • I apologize, I misunderstood.

  • In the near future hungarians will depend heavily on the common sense of the EU. The Eurpoean Union most resolve this issue peacefully. Hungarians of course (as always) will be outnumbered when it comes to lobbying. There are simply too many states who benefitted from the destruction and suffering of the hungarian nation. Therefor Hungary will stand alone in this fight and in it's quest for justice! That's why it is so critical that the world understands what exactly happened to this people...

  • And every major european conflict after WW I. can trace it's origins back to the Treaty of Versailles and the Treaty of Trianon. Including WWII and the bloody balkan ethnic wars of the early 1990's. All these needless wars are the results of the great injustices of the senseless and mindless "peace treaties" following the end of World War One. When colonial powers such as Great Britain and France were re-writing the history of central europe and re-drawing the maps of countries such as HUNGARY!

  • In 1920 as part of the Treaty of Versailles the 1000 year old Kingdom of Hungary was destroyed, butchered, ripped to pieces as an attempt to punish Hungary for siding with the austro-german forces in WWI. 71% of Hungary was taken and given away to newly formed artificial states such as "yugoslavia", "czechoslovakia" and "romania". These new puppet states formed an alliance with the french and the english. NOT A SINGLE YARD OF THIS COUNTRY'S 1000 YEAR OLD BORDER WAS LEFT INTACT!

    A crime...

  • Hm, well now that the borders are set though, I don't know what else can be done. They aren't going to give the land back I doubt at this point are they? I had heard about the issue with Romania, and I have heard that a lot of Hungarians live there, but didn't know about the dispute with the others. So how do you think this will be resolved?

  • Hungarians don't want wars. Never wanted. They only joined WWII to regain some of it's historic land that was taken illegaly. Nobody has the right to start chopping up an independant, souveraigne nation!!! Imagine this happening to Canada or to the US. Just beacuse they have ethnic minorities living on their lands. Nobody would accept that, nobody! Romania was given the whole of Transylvania when only less than half of that region was populated by the so-called romanians. Is it called justice?

  • No, they allied with Hitler out of imperialist gains. They thought they could regain territory they conquered under Austria-Hungary. Hence annexation of Slovak territory. Provocation of Romania. Hungarian anti Jewish codes were on par with Nazi Germany.

  • Fuck I thought you know something. You know fuck all....

Go and check the map of Hungary in the year 1ooo! Hungary had pretty much the same border for over a 1ooo years... Do some research!

    You never heard that?

  • You're not my type.

Hungarian borders shifted very much, as did all in the region.

  • @SEFARAD2K4 It is a lie and you are to lazy to do some research...

  • On a different note, I like your little video, it is nicely put together and quite informal. I hope you enjoyed your stay there and the locals didn't let you down! Good luck with your travels! Thank you for your time!

  • Sure thing! The locals were generally quite nice. Gundel was really amazing, and a world class restaurant! I hope that whatever happens with the border issues is resolved peacefully.

  • It will be resolved one way or the other. Peaceful co-existence is in the interest of all of us. But justice should be served...

  • @Zaunstar, watching this video might help you understand what the hungarians had to go through after the Treaty of Trianon in 192o:

" Hungarian Holocaust - Serbs killed thousands of Hungarians in 1944 "

Keep in mind that these are the same serbians who committed the worst kind of ethnic cleansings and started a racial war in the 199o's in Yugoslavia. In 1944 they did the same to the indeginous hungarian population who lived on the territory that the serbs received in 192o. (TRIANON)

  • Hungary was a dominating central-european power for over a 1000 years. Defender of Europe and the west against the mongols and ottoman turks for centuries. Hungarians fought two wars with the mongol invaders, in one of these battles even the hungarian king lost his life. For hundreds of years following the mongol invasions the brave hungarians repeatedly fended off numerous turkish invasion attempts, by doing so saving Vienna and the western nations as a whole. They were not so gratefull, no...

  • The Magyars settled in the region south-west of the Ural mountains for a short period of time before they moved back to the Carpathian Basin where they still live today. Geographically the Ural considered to be the easternmost border of Europe. So it is a mistake to state that the Magyars (hungarians) are from "central-asia". They are europeans from both the geographical and political point of view. Enemies of the Magyars are trying hard to stereotype the hungarians as asiatic barbarians.

  • OK, well thank you for the clarification. I guess that is the border of Europe and Asia. I do consider them Europeans, and I certainly don't think the Hungarians are barbarians. I would be surprised if anyone does actually. I knew some of that about most of the history. Who are the enemies of Hungary today though? I don't think you're under any threat of invasion by your neighbors.

  • Olyan boldog vagyok, hogy hallja ezt a dalt. Micsoda nagyszerű előadás minden, és kellemes karácsonyi ünnepeket és egy nagyon boldog és egészséges új évet. From Your Friend Amerikában.

  • Sorry, I don't speak Hungarian, but thank you for the comment! I enjoyed visiting your country. *:-)

  • You are so Welcome. Hungary is a Beautiful Country with many possibilities. Thank You for Your visit

  • Thank you for the commercial you made for Hungary! :) I hope you will come back soon and see more attractions of Budapest and Hungary!Bye!

  • Sure! I suppose it could be a commercial, pretty long for TV though. Hehheh. I'll certainly return when I can. Thanks.

  • thank you for taking the time to make this video about your trip to Hungary. You got all your facts right including the origin of the language.

  • You're welcome! Yes, I really enjoyed the country. The language seemed impossible compared to most languages, but it was interesting and I was happy to learn about it, as well as the history of the country.

  • You can shit on the hungarians as long as you wish. Looks like there is nothing else you can do anyways.

It still won't change the fact that it was the Hungarians who could build and maintane an empire in the middle of europe for over a 1000 years! How come you great "slovaks" couldn't do the same?! Uhh... Or the great "romanians" or the great serbians? You guys all so great, you think! History proved otherwise, you silly moron. Now you quickly try to rewrite history. Good luck losers!

  • No one rewrites history. Hungary at times was ruled by Czechs, Poles, Lithuanians, Austrians... But your fascist arrogance knows no bounds. Everyone was ruled by someone else at some point. However, imperialist gain is not a measure of civilization, rather a measure of anti humanity.

  • @SEFARAD2K4, you losing it brother. Calm down a bit and educate yourself on the subject instead. You'll find it a rewarding experience! You contradict yourself at every turn.

Your frustration probably stems from jealousy. You are only here to puke and are not able to explain any of your faulty claims! Hungarians has 11oo years of more or less continuous statehood in the middle of Europe. I understand it boders you. But again, what do you have? Go home slovak loser! LOL

  • @WorldOfNonsense , you so-called "romanians" are the biggest shauvinists and fascists out there! You are obviously also suffering from a severe case of amnesia. So I have to remind you that Hungarian Transylvania is "yours" since 1920 when the colonials ripped it out of Hungary and gave it to the treacherous "romanians" for the backstabbing of the germans and hungarians during the last few month of WWI. You "romanians" are well known for these kind of tactics. That is how your country grew...

  • és ha értesz magyarul, gyere a weboldalunkra...

  • well its similiar to turkish not the words but the writing and spelling and poo

  • Igen, Értem...

  • I don't know what that means, but hopefully it's not "you suck". Hahhah. *;-)

  • First of all, the language is called MAGYAR not "hungarian". The Nation of people is called MAGYAR. You could have learned at least that much. It is not Hungary it is MAGYAR ORSZAG.

  • I know that. If you had looked at the tags for this video, you would have noticed it. Since I speak English, I made the video in English. If I knew Hungarian, I'd call it Magyar in the video. Why pick a fight with me about this anyway? Hehheh. Puzzling.

  • Comment removed

  • @artcubis

Magyarország is Hungarian name for Hungary. Just like Magyar = Hungarian the language for the world.

PS: If you try to be a smart ass, try to write "Magyarország" in one word.

  • OMG at list he took the energy to make this great video.. give a guy a break I loved the video and broght back great memories..

  • Ahh...Hungarian goose liver...the best in Europa..Glad you enjoyed your stay. Come back to visit soon! there are many more sites to see.

  • Yes, she loved it! I'm not so big on liver in general, but I tried a little bite. Thanks! I'll come back as soon as I can. I'm sure there is indeed much more to see.

  • Good to see that you also visited the countryside not just Budapest like most tourists do. And at last, someone knows how to pronounce Budapest :)

There are so many more nice places in Hungary, I can give you a list if you wish for your next visit.

  • Yes, the trip out to the country was an optional tour while we were there, and we thought it was important to see that, so we did. We loved the scenery and the horses! It really gave us an idea of how life was many years ago in Hungary. I'll take you up that offer next time we go there. Yes, I try to pronounce things correctly for the country they are located in. However, it would be easier for us if we spelled it "Budapesht". *:-)

  • Your first sign on the billboard (with the pretty lady on the left) says "The credit isn't a gift. It's business for us and you too!"

The paper sign says "6th Balcony, The President of the Republic, The President of the Constitution, The judge of Constitution, and the president of the Supreme Court". - Uzenet a Jovobol!

  • Oh, that's awesome! Thank you for translating it for me! It would be very hard for me to learn Hungarian I think.

  • i'm Hungarian, I have family there. I happy you could make videos from there. I happy to see updates from hungary.

I hope you had a wonderful time. I always did when i went there to visit Hungary.

  • Oh, cool! I have met a couple other Hungarians recently too from my video. Hungary was just one of many countries we visited on that trip, but it was one of the more interesting countries. Also, many people don't know that Hungary's history is quite different from many of the other eastern European countries, in that they are not Slavic people.

  • Not realy seriously ! It's the Hungarian blood speaking . I like to shake things up a little . Sorry !

  • That's OK! You can say whatever you want. It's just funny because I see that on videos about other European countries too. People like to argue! Feel free to subscribe to me if you'd like, but most of my videos are not about Hungary. *:-)

  • Thank you for the wonderful video. I grew up in Hungary and your show baught great memories back.

And for vicioba ! Hear it from the horses mouth ! We know exactly where we came from ! Do you know where you came from ?

  • You're welcome! My wife and I both enjoyed it. Next time we'll have to go to the mineral baths. Gundel was awesome too. We'll go back there someday as long as it's still there!

What's with the international bickering? Hehheh. You guys really take that stuff seriously!

  • Very nice 5 stars but can you remove

vicioba's comment because it is basically a anti-Hungarian comment thank you.

  • Thanks! I appreciate it. I took Vicioba's comment as more of a joke, but now that I see she/he is Romanian, maybe it wasn't. Romanians apparently don't get along with Hungarians?

Anyway, I really enjoyed your country! I certainly hope to return again. I checked out your channel. I don't think I would get too wrapped up in trying to change your borders. The best you can do for Hungary I think is help it become economically strong.

  • Thanks Im always happy to hear good stories from people who visited. The border issue is not so much a "land" issue as it is that ethnic Hungarians who have been forced to live in another county for almost 90 years have the right to be part of their native homeland. I hope that makes sence =D

  • Sure, well, it makes sense, but I don't think you're going to be able to convince Romania to just give you the land back, even if they are Hungarians living on it, and you're not going to go to war over it, so I don't really see a lot of options for it other than the Hungarians in Romania moving to Hungary.

  • Enigmatic? Damn true, since they don't know themselvs who they are and where came from...

  • Hm, well as I understand it, they were originally from central Asia, but then after Budapest was liberated from the Ottomans, it was re-populated by Germanic people from Vienna. So, it seems that it is a bit of a mix of people ethnically.

  • Thank you very much for visiting our country.

  • You are very welcome! Thank you for uhhh... existing, so I could visit you! You have a very pretty and interesting country. *:-)
