  • Holy shit the beginning of this song with headphone :O So wonderful.

  • This generation's CSNY, in every sense a Supergroup for the ages.

  • Almost certain, among the other obvious drug references, "syrupy sun" is referring to Tussionex aka hydrocodone cough syrup. It's orangish color and definitely makes your mind think slow...

  • "then I fell in love with identical twins

They lived 34 summers between the two of them

I gave one my ego, I gave one my id"

Dear god, what lyrics, I almost came.

  • Yes it is a good song. Go listen to the Ozark Mountain Daredevils, Sam Bush and on and on. Fifty years from now people will still know exactly who the Beatles were and why. The rest will be in dusty personal collections and may have some space in a hard drive.

  • I've notice people who call The Beatles pop (is that suppose to be an insult?) or "corporate" crap are people who don't know the history or the music of The Beatles. Music, just like everything else in this world, is subjective, and for this 23 year old male, The Beatles are the best band I ever heard. I absolutely love their music, along with The Velvet Underground, Joy Division, and MoF! But I do hate U2! They're the most overrated band in the world, their music is so meh.

  • @MyLittleHero95 Bono is hiding something behind those sunglasses, i swear it.....

  • I bought something form Duluth.....

  • @Bigmusel1 I met a lady came from Duluth....

  • @sagetinyjesus bit by a dog with a rabbit tooth

  • i Love this song thanks for posting

  • saw them last night in Austin

  • @Captain94kirk indeed we did my friend

  • best song ever.

most underrated group of our generation!

im a punk rock kid btw so it takes alot to admit it.

    give credit where its due.

  • @casketdesigner we need more people like you

people who are who they are, but dont discredit or pass off others

  • This song makes me want to travel I don't know why

  • I'd say the Beatles are the best band....and not overated...,but yout gotta say MOF come close!!!! Nice nice song!!!

  • all this song is about is a stingy dope dealer. they are all over.

  • @remmy73

the greatest love songs in history were written about drugs. its the ultimate love i tell yah.

  • quite possibly the dumbest conversation I have ever seen on youtube.

  • Great song, very skilled playing, too. Love the guitar and mandolin. Also, it's nice to see some intelligent comments on youtube :D

  • "gave one my ego, gave one my id, yeah, i gotta get back to my pretty little twins."

  • lol first youtube argument to end in a mutual agreement and not a childish flamewar. says something about the general MOF fanbase!

  • @JuJuHound hell yeah dude. monsters of folk is the greatest band of all time! wait..... thats not what started the argument is it? fuck!

  • nice mandolin on this.

  • everyone likes to put their word in. -i guess i am too!!- i think the important thing for a band to remember is to respect your bandmates, have fun, and do something that you can be proud of.

i really like the beatles. i think they really helped music come to where it is today. and yes, some people do overrate them. happens with all bands.

i think it's neat how these guys get together and make music. it's a beautiful thing.

  • @hanneruanne exactly!!

i mean, im not a fan of the Beatles, they made good music and all, but its not something id go looking for, and i look a LOT! haha

but anyways, i agree, but id also just add in to make music you'd want to hear, you kno, like songs you wouldnt get tired of playing : )

this songs really cool by the way

  • @hanneruanne The Beatles "ARE" why music is where it is today.

  • @puedaser1 Nooo not really...bluegrass is why music is where it is today.

  • @mandicary

Well technically, slavery is why music is where it is now, and before that, suffering in Europe. Alongside African instruments like the banjo and world influences.

So I generally don't give a fuck about its source, since I'd rather they're just be more made than people obsessing over who started it.

  • I agree. Though I dig the Beatles, it's mostly John that holds all the talent. MOF is outstanding.

  • you cant dis the beatles because every band like this listened to them and was influenced one way or another by them

  • Conor Oberst you need to get greedy... get your hands on more musical goodness!

  • This is comparable to the Beatles. Just throwing that out there.

  • uh it's really not.... not even close.

    but it's pretty decent.

  • beatles are overrated and equal to mass produced pop music. can we please move on from them... there was so many better bands back then and now.

  • Word,I completely agree.

I'm not going to say mass produced pop music.

But I think the beatles were more of what they did for music,as far as techniques in recording, thoughts, and concepts.

Not so much the best ban of all time, but they were inventive at the time, and that's just as important..if that makes sense?

Kind of like how people think Jimi Hendrix was so great on guitar.

Not really, just ridiculously creative, and that was his place.

  • I suppose, what I was getting at, wasn't that the Beatles are a great band, but it's four musical genius's. And you're completely right. The Beatles are overrated, but they're still a super-group of talented musicians, just like MOF.

  • can i just say i've never seen a more constructive conversation on youtube? haha, we were basically bashing the beatles and yet it all lead to a very interesting conversation... minus my two thumbs down, which was to be expected.

  • you're right. hah, I don't really know what to say now.

  • indeed! LOL

  • @StellaArtois101 I like your username, almost as much as this song.

  • tim kasher would be great, you're right. but man. this band is legendary

  • sounds me like 16 horsepower

  • thanks for posting.

  • No problem :D

  • Bravo Bravo what a sound, thought I knew my music, ust discovered this group brilliant

  • only person missing is tim kasher

  • OK ... So ... maybe I'm the only one that thought I was the one who thought that I knew the only one !!

  • sounds a bit like Nikorette, maybe I'm the only one who thought about that

  • Okay, so am I the only person who knew that this is actually a Bright Eyes song that Mike and Conor carried over to MoF?

  • Nope! I've had the copy of the recording since 2007, when they first wrote/performed it!

  • Thank You!!!!!

  • @later66 I knew that too. I don't mind though, as long as they play it.

It's amaingly good live too! :D

  • @later66 seeing as how there is a video posted titled "man named truth - new bright eyes song", I would assume you aren't.

  • such a wicked collaboration of vocals and harmony. great band thats totally underrated.

  • best combination of people
