what are the basic chord progressions?

Assuming the song is in Eb major:

1) He teeters on the 6, c minor at 0:08

2) Then a 5-1-4 (Bbm7, Ebdom9, Abmaj7) from 0:10 - 0:14

3) A 7-3-6 (Ddim7, G7#9#5, Cminor11) from 0:15 - 0:20

Lather, rinse, repeat.

hey thanks! =) how do you know what progression he used and what chord for each? i mean i know what 7-3-6 means but how do you know if its a dim7 or a #9#5 do you just add it by ear or theres a pattern for it? thanks again!

those are common chords for that progression and after you hear and play them often enough, you'll recognize them anywhere. for example, in any given 2-5-1 the 2 is likely to be a min7 or min9, the 5 is commonly a 13 chord, and the one can be an add9 or maj6. this isn't always the case. as he goes on in the video he does variations on the same progression with more chord variety. if you need more clarification, you can hit me up again here or on my page.
