@stevenmacca89 Naz was a clown, a showboat. He is very overrated. McGuigan would have knocked the smirk off his face. Naz has issues with Paul Ingle, who was not in Barrys class. Afetr a few rounds , Baryy would have got to him and beat his ass
The Naz conversation is irreleveant really ...as an Irishman (South) he crossed the divide. He was a great champion and he impacted a troubled country in a way that is difficult to describe in these peaceful times. We were proud of him then and are proud of him now - in this case it was far more than boxing ... and yes you had to have been there to understand .....thanks for posting
hamed had no defence and wild lunging punches its a wonder he did as well as he did, macguigan had a tight defence and fast well balanced punches.. besides hamed was/is a cocky bastard, no1 should trust a word that leaves his mouth
I don't think Naz would have beaten Mcguigan at all tbh.. although i like Naz as a boxer i just think he never had a good enough defence to compete against a top ranked opponant for 12 rounds let alone 15 (the barrera fight showed that) he should have really learned to slip punches properly as his wild defensive style always put him off balance..
I also think Mcguigan would have made himself too hard to hit with the large lunching power shots Naz liked to throw and possibly would have countered.
Saw that one on telly. The first time i actually saw a uk fighter win a world title in a time when world titles were so hard to attain,i previously saw Colin Jones fail against Don Curry.
@stevenmacca89 fraud??? lol you dont know your boxing do you.

Naz struggled with Paul Ingle, who Barry was superior to in every way.

What do you base that on? Boxing went downhill from the early nineties, to the joke it is now.
Hamed didnt face any halfway decent comp until Barrera, and wouldnt have lived with the pace of a fifteen round fighter.

eh, Mcguiagan isnt even British.hes irish.
from the republic of Ireland.
Irish people always laugh at this kinda thing.when Barry won it was a great british victory, when he lost in Vegas he the brokenhearted Irishman!!!
