To be honest its fresh enough to hear someone from the US even deign to compare their modern hip hop output to ours (or to grime for that matter). I could point out a few notable exceptions to what you're saying- US legends Das EFX are credited with biting their whole style from classic UKHH group Demon Boyz, London Posse toured with NWA in '89 and produced a debut album stronger than everything post-'straight outta compton' and more recent albums from klashnekoff and kyza deserve recognition

of, the same level that the acclaimed albums of the last 5 years as produced overseas... If you look closely there's enough talent to justify a serious comparison between the contemporary scenes. I'm not gonna contest the legacy of Golden era/90's US hip hop but the UK scene has produced many great albums which are criminally overlooked by a big portion of the US market because some people are too closed minded to let anyone else do Hip hop. Case in point: the French are doing it best right now
