As much as I love this scene, and the cast in "Jackie Brown" the film is a red-headed stepchild in the Elmore Leonard oeuvre, due mostly to Tarantino's need to make himself, as filmmaker, more important than the story. You want to see great Elmore Leonard adapted to film, watch Steven Soderbergh's Out of Sight (1998). That movie rocks.
@GNut1980 haha, well it's mentioned later in the film he doesn't really know what he's talking about and is just repeating stuff people have told him.
I found this novel called The Suicide Game that feels like a Tarantino movie and even has a character that seems to be Tarantino himself. It features a black hitman, a murderous priest, and a gay phone sex operator. I downloaded it for free at smashwords . com and it was awesome.
Some kind of pump action 12 gauge, looks like a tricked out Mossberg Persuader.
Steyr AUG assault rifle, 5.56mm.
Tec-9 9mm
Beretta M12 9mm
The AK is valuable primarily for price and reliability. A shitty AK that's barely functional will still empty the mag when an M16 or M4 that costs twice as much will balk unless it's got clean, strong ammo and and good maintenance.
Honestly, the Steyr's advantage is its light weight and built-in 1.5x scope. It's wasted at close range.
@Capcoor to an extent, yes, and even more plausible is the type of ammunition you run through your handgun....however,the scene is generalizing, as am I. Generally speaking, even the new 1911 platform .45's are very reliable and accurate handguns. The jamming is primarily the result of running poor ammunition than anything else
To a small extent, yes, but even more plausible is the type of ammunition you run through your handgun....however,the scene is generalizing, as am I. Generally speaking, the new 1911 platform .45's are very reliable and accurate handguns. Granted, I'd take a Glock over the 1911's (and did) but The jamming is primarily the result of running poor ammunition than anything else
A totally underrated Tarantino film. Much better than "Kill Bill" Parts 1 & 2 and "Inglourious Basterds". I wish Tarantino would go back and make movies like he used to. Also, I wish he would FUCK OFF with the subtitles! If I wanted to read for 2 hours, I'd get a book.
@bosnia91 No, the thing about the TEC-DC9 that got the Brady Bunch & the Clintons crying is that Navegar advertised it as having resistance to fingerprints. "TEC-KOTE finish has excellent resistance to fingerprints". They took that as being made for criminal use. What the ad was hyping, is the fact that the frame was made from polymer & would not rust. Fingerprints can cause rust on gun parts that are blued steel. The TEC-9 is a cheap POS & uses junk mags, as many low price getto guns are.
Ordell should know that a .45 round, though a little slower, weighs twice as much as a 9mm. Even Melanie probably knows that.
A few minutes after this the expression "That hit the spot" gets ruined for me. Every time someone says "That hit the spot" an image of scraggily Robert Deniro bent over Brigette Fonda enters my mind. Not good.
@Pandabearmadness The song you're looking for, played when Jackie is changing the money in the dressing room, is called "Escape" by Roy Ayers. This song and another used in Jackie Brown, called "Aragon," are both on the soundtrack of a movie called "Coffy," which is an old 70's movie starring Pam Grier.
i've been trying to figure out the name of the song in jackie brown where jackie is changing the money in the dressing room i have a special dvd where it has sound track triva and it says bill withers who is he. but i already know that song and i know its not that. if anyone could help me figure it out i would really thankful . if you need more detail of the song i'm talking about. i can tell you exactly what time in the movie it is.
@TheWuCepticon81 he didn't go off with her because even though he's madly in love with her, she comes from a different background and is a bit scared of her lifestyle. Its a really tragic bittersweet ending.
@Muskateering Yeah, I agree, but still. If Pam Grier ask me do i wanna go off to Spain with her, i'm there. My thing is, if i was him, i would have taken that risk and went off with her. Opposites obviously attract here, in this case. But yeah, the ending does add to the film, even thought it makes me wish he went with her, in my head.
@tantrum42069 Well he's either selling them to Mexican gangs (guns are illegal in Mexico) or to buyers who don't want a paper trail. So that's where the extra money goes.
In the process of reading " Rum Punch" which this movie is based on. Looking forward to actually seeing the film some day soon. Would Blockbuster have it?
Tarantino seems to have got his movies wrong? Chow Yun Fat don't use .45s in The Killer (1989). He (mostly) uses standard 9mm Berettas, a Walther, a huge-ass revolver that looks like a S&W .500 and a few SMGs and shotguns.
Ah, well. I'm glad he referenced The Killer anyway. = )
@XXXXJFASTXXXX ...no, he's not. He's talking about 'Hong Kong flicks', and then reference John Woo movies when speaking of guy wanting 2 pistols. 'Because every nigger wants to be The Killer'. Tarantino is a known fan of John Woo '80s heroic bloodshed movies. Ever see The Killer? Look it up.
Please take no offence, but...I'd say the fail's on YOU.
@chadm724 - I agree. When it was first released, there were so many expectations after "Pulp Fiction", and some at the time (including myself) were a bit let down by it. But it gets better with every viewing, and now some10 years later, I think it is every bit as good as Pulp Fiction, and in many ways, has more depth and maturity.
@chadm724 Yea I agree, a lot of people HATED the ending though, I mean they really didn't want Ordell to die after seeing a guy like him in Pulp Fiction.

Deniro has either starred or supported in a lot of great movies: Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, Goodfellas, The Deer Hunter, Godfather 2, Mean Streets, Awakenings, Midnight Run, The Untouchables, The Mission, Once Upon a time in America, The King of Comedy, Cape Fear, Casino, Heat, Meet the Parents movies Analyze this movies and this.

@Tusc9969 Yeah I was just thinkin of Deniro's role in this which goes under the radar but to me is as good as anything he's done cause he's this character so far away from some of the usual guys he plays whether it be mafia guys or whatever. I think Deniro is a big reason this movie is one of QT's best in my mind.
He also likes to use the word nigger, although in this context it's not bad like in Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs. Bridget Fonda is so fucking hot in this movie.
This is what image first came to mind when I heard of Sarah Palin,
And second Jackie Brown is Quintin Tarrintinos best flick in my mind, Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 comes close ( especially With the last half hour of Kill Bill 2) and Pulp fiction although rightly so is critically acclaimed is still overated.
What do you mean the sight was switched? The Chinese Norinco Type 56, which is basically a Chinese-made copy of an AK47, has a fully hooded sight. That means it's enclosed all the way around, like a ring. The non-Chinese models are not fully hooded. An authentic Russian AK rarely exists now, as most are AKMs. Same thing as an AK47, just with slight upgrades. An authentic Russian model is easily identified from other AK variants, and that is NOT a Norinco Type 56. It's an AKM.

@vinnykster Of course .. Pam Grier is a really big reason why JB is one of QT's finest IMO. It's a great cast overall! Classic QT!

Just noticed that. I watched Inglorious Bastards yesterday and the whole scene with the shoe fitting. Haha I guess he does have a fetish.

He also likes to use the word nigger, although in this context it's not bad like in Pulp Fiction or Resevoir Dogs. Bridget Fonda is so fucking hot in this movie.

This is what image first came to mind when I heard of Sarah Palin,
And second Jackie Brown is Quintin Tarrintinos best flick in my mind, Kill Bill Vol 1 and 2 comes close ( especially With the last half hour of Kill Bill 2) and Pulp fiction although rightly so is critically acclaimed is still overated.

that isn't the chinese ak. the chinese ak (type 56) has a fully hooded sight. if you look closely, it's not a fully hooded sight.
hogger129 2 years ago
the sight was prolly switched
Frostbyte380 2 years ago
What do you mean the sight was switched? The Chinese Norinco Type 56, which is basically a Chinese-made copy of an AK47, has a fully hooded sight. That means it's enclosed all the way around, like a ring. The non-Chinese models are not fully hooded. An authentic Russian AK rarely exists now, as most are AKMs. Same thing as an AK47, just with slight upgrades. An authentic Russian model is easily identified from other AK variants, and that is NOT a Norinco Type 56. It's an AKM.
