I just got back from my study abroad trip to Spain. Something I did that I definitely would recommend to anyone is to a) pack light and b) get a prepaid cell phone. I bought a TracFone before I left and was able to talk to my family back home for the price of a local call. There are over 60 participating countries and the directions are on the website -- super simple to follow. Definitely check them out.
