Amazingly,..U can now get all of these great soul classic hits and then some right here on YouTube for the low price of,...absolutely FREE!!! (Start surfing NOW!, and hear them TODAY!,...local internet charges do apply)
@PhillyCatlien no my brother you can't get your own. You call that number and you get Life Alert. lol. I guess they figured all them cats from back in the day done got old. Now it's "Hey man I fell on the kitchen floor the other day, couldn't get up for 3 days. Can I borrow your Life Alert?" "No my brother, you got to get your own."
@leroy592 I'm not sure if it is still in print because I ordered mine years ago. I'm not sure where I ordered it from, but it was probably from the company that had the commercials on TV.
You should get as much information about the CD set that you can, and then check with some CD stores in your area like Borders Books & Music or F.Y.E (formerly Sam Goody) to see if they can find out if it is still in print. Amazon.com is another option, although I have never ordered anything through them.
@leroy592 I bought this for my ex around 99-2000. But the commercial happened to come on TV. I believe that time life sells it. You can go on timelife.com and look for it.
That is what I have been looking for LOL, glad I am not the only one! We use to sing it on bus trips.LOL You made my day because I could only remember who in the hell left the gate open!
Thanks for sharing! This commercial is a classic. The young man who is speaking, "No man, you have to buy your own" is Melvin Lindsey who was a popular Washington DC DJ. He passed away in 1992. So sad. Great memories.
You are mistaken, my brother...John Canada Terrell was the one speaking that famous line and he is alive and well living in Philly. I know this for a fact...google his name and see for yourself.
"only commercial they showin now days. cut the tv off. coming through the damn walls. let me fix this fan. so hot in here last night i swear I saw the devil sitiin in the living room"
I remember this classic commercial all the way. I found both volumns of "Hey Love" 1 and 2 released then by Time/Warner at the now out of business Circuit City 11 years ago for about 6 bucks each. I will always treasure these compilations. "NAW BROTHA' I GOT MINE,....YOU GOTS TO GET YOUR OWN".
'In fact,..I'm going to throw on both volumns now.
I remember seeing this commerical used in the 1989 movie House Party with Kid and Play Robin Harris talks about in one scene where he says "Only they show nowadays, coming through the god damn walls"
I remeber seeing this video as a kid in Chicago in the late 70s/early 80s. It always came on the then local WGN, especially when Soul Train would be playing. It would also come on late night on the weekends. That last line is a classic.
I am hoping someone can help me. There is a song that I have been searching for years. I'm not sure what the title of the song is or who the artist is, but I do know the song went something like this "hey love, you've got me on my knees baby" and it goes on
I have both volumns 1 & 2 which are now out of print from Time Warner which released these classics years ago,...and I paid about $5 bucks each at Circuit City about 7 years ago. Glad I snatched them up! I'm going to throw on Vol. 1 right now.
I've bought Hey Love compilation at least 4 times because everybody keeps stealing it. It truly is THE compilation to have. Especially on when doing Saturday morning cleaning or Sunday night spade games!
I remember seeing this commercial when I was in junior high school. I would come home and sit down to watch "Video Vibrations" on BET, with "The Unseen VJ", Alvin Jones. I had seen that commercial so much, I knew each song by heart.
JheriCurlJankins that's funny you should say that cuz as I watched this post, I automatically knew what song was next, and I haven't seen this commercial in damn near 25 years!
I was being sarcastic. But since you took your time out to reply thank you konakazi. I would have gone along with my entire life thinking that the cost of shipping on this album was 400 dollars. Your a life saver.
WOW WOW WOW This took me days when video soul use to come BET with Donnie Simpson hahahah I still use that line No my brother you gots to get your own LOL Can you dig it ?
Man im only 21 but seeing this commerical in the early 90s brings so many memories, this would be shown during late night on BET, all though i was young i still remember when B.E.T. was actually worth watching, but now, it doesnt get one second from me.
noooo my brotha!! You gotta get your own! LOL!!! I remember marlon said that on the wayans bro show when shaun was going back into the jerri curl business and they filmed a commercial where pops was outside of a club and couldnt get in cause he was trying to "pimp" up his image and marlon walked by with a long shaggy curl and gold pants and pops asked marlon for some jeri curl activator he was used outside of the club to get in!!! LOLOL
Granted, rap is alot of remade and reused samples of old classics, MOST of these song aint on a rap track homie. Don't trip though I get the implication.
