I looked up the Limited Ed. on Amazon and many of the reviews cited the Extended Ed. as being a better choice for those who enjoy bonus material, so I'm curious: Are these behind-the-scenes shorts included in both, does anyone know?

@AshenPhoenix The LEs have just one long continuous bonus feature per movie, I clipped them myself to upload here, so there are no 'shorts'. Nothing I've uploaded is on the EEs, but if you can only afford to buy one version, I recommend the EEs, as I said in my other comment. :)

If I remember correctly Gandalf is not allowed to use his magic except on very limited terms. He's more of angel, a servant, and you can see this when he is killed by the Balrog, and brought back. Either way, there IS a reason why he doesn't use magic in human battles, I just can't remember the exact details.

To paraphrase the way I'd heard it: previously, when you had Maiar and Valar slugging it out directly, the Earth didn't fare well and took a lot of collateral damage, so now "the powers that be" have deemed that the more celestial beings can't sit around throwing thunderbolts, etc. at one another. They can only influence/inspire/counsel others (like Gandalf using the Narya ring to lead Men).

Whether that's the actual case or not, it makes a sort of sense, I suppose.
