Ciao!
Many say the Catholic Church stayed silent during the Holocaust. But what they don't know is that Pope Pius saved thousands of Jews, and protected Rome and also the Jews. Why don't they blame the other countries that had weapons to protect those being killed?! The Vatican didn't have no weapons, the Vatican could have been bombed easily because they had nobody to protect them. But yet the Catholic Church managed to save thousands of innocent people. What people don't mention is that in the beg
People do indeed say that catholics helped the nazis. That's because some did, by staying silent while this was going on. Others, of course, acted with great bravery. That's the thing with extreme situations, they bring out the best and worst in people. Does anybody know if the man whose place Kolbe took survived?
@fendweller@fendweller yes, he survived, when front approached he was transferred from Auschwitz to nazi camp in Sachsenhausen, there american troops freed him and another prisoners, he named Franciszek Gajowniczek
And people try to say Catholics are evil and they helped the Nazi's. Amen to you St.Maximilian you are with the lord and our mother and all in heaven Rest now. Please pray for us.
Dear Silly Grandpa, very easy to say about anyone a German pig. For sure I understand that you were lead by your emotions and the evil thahy made. However, we cannot say this to everyone. For example, my greatgrandfather was a German, he helped the Jews in transports by giving them food and when the soldiers found it they sent him to Sachsenhausen and Buchenwald. On the other hand my another relative was a SS man. So what do you think about that? I am an order sister and Max is my patron.

I went to Auschwitz in October and saw the site of his martyrdom. He was a brave and faithful man. May he rest in peace.
