  • chillingly beautiful.

  • Just played this video a couple of times and then went and bought the CD. Love it.

  • Incredible, he's got more than 6 milion views without any promotion. Suck on it all "singers" that show up on MTV !

  • My god!

    My fucking god...

I'd never heard of Jeff Buckley until I googled "Hallelujah" and Jeff returned lots of hits.

I listened. I was captivated. His voice is compelling, evocative. His talent with the guitar blended with the way he covers this song is as close to something that I can only call 'divine' as I've ever heard.

His music continues to answer the call of millions of spirits. After reading his bio, I feel there was clearly a reason for his untimely death: US.

    Thank You, Jeff.

  • この曲を映画のエンディングで聴いた。あなたの曲じゃない。でも、僕は好きだ。悲しくなった。

  • Love it

  • First word said on the video after the song....wow pretty much sums it up.

  • One of the few cover songs that are better than the original.

  • Great... Thank you Mister Buckley... Leonard Cohen has wrote this song for you. Only one album...

  • Fucking beautiful!

  • What a loss... and superfrenchfrys, no it wasn't. I believe it was an accidental drowning. The first time I heard him sing this song, I didn't even know who he was, let alone that he had passed. I would have given almost anything to see him in concert! He was an amazing musician and singer, he put sooo much heart and soul into his music. RIP, Jeff.

  • I like the description!

  • Picking out each of the individual bible stories he's referencing in his song is pretty awesome, just saying (:

  • Beautiful

  • That intro is perfect, is there anything more like it?

  • Such emotion in this song

  • A beautiful cover.

  • This was played at my big brothers memorial service in 2008 -3

  • 438 peoples love "Amen".

  • In My Opinion Jeff Buckely Is One Of The Greatest

and He Is Up There With Presley And Cash!

  • Beautiful.

  • @witcher70 , in my opinion, lady Gaga - and similar ones - have nothing to concern with music, she is only a marketing's monster.

Since, in my opinion, is very sadly that todays people listen lady Gaga and they do not know real good music.

  • we live n the world of tuneless (in my opinion)music there is very little pure talent allowed, almost anyone can be given a tune then made to sound good, love or hate adele she is musisal and agass poular, long live taste and good sense

  • New too this song, love it brings me soooooo much of something I did not have what a awesome awesome song ...................................... Keep your Happiness people we need you

  • Word

  • Love this...

  • all he is doing in this video is singing... but i find myself mesmerized and can't turn away. this man is a legend.

  • The 437 who clicked `I do not like' or have wrong cliccked or are deafs. We are, sadly, living in the era of lady gaga :-(

  • @gialloporpora why is it sad? i'm glad... i love all he's done and wish he could live and do more... but i will never understand the point in dissing GaGa or her music. needless to say i find it pretty good too ;) i see it's an opinion but i can also see rage and i'm not sure she deserves it. that's the only thing that made me answer your comment ;)

  • The version of Rufus is beautiful too =D

  • I defy anybody who doesn't get a tear at least welling listening to this.

  • Still loving it!

  • Better than the original !!!

  • Una de las mejores canciones de la historia! :D

  • man - i just can't get over how damn good that is

  • Always in my mind.......

  • RIP

  • This is the greatest version. The ending, where he shouts, makes me choke up.

  • Merry Christmas and a happy New Year Every Hope you have the best Christmas

  • I always find myself playing this late at night in the bar.

  • @aliakbar515, This is a Leonard Cohen song. He is Jewish and draws a lot of inspiration from the Hebrew Bible. His is not very religious, though. You might also be interested in his song "Who by Fire."

  • Just heard this for the first time on E Street Radio. Wonderful version. So true to Cohen's styling.

  • Its almost like it sounds lazy. John Cale's version has such passion.

  • Yes, quite wow

  • Prefiro Gabriela Rocha! *-*

  • timeless song..just heard Xfactor US semi-finalist Josh Krackjik did a version of this song

  • thekevorchestra, didn't ya know that only the good die young???

  • Why do all these amazing people die so young?

  • Ode to the orgasm.

  • Brother, man you did a great job singing this song. I hope you are in heaven and playing for the angels and our Lord, God almighty. I hope we can sing this song together, I'd love to sing with you. God speed Jeff...

  • Some dead men are meant to be loved so much it hurts. At least for some 6 minutes and a bit....

  • Word

  • I wanna learn to play like this man. Not to mention the singing. Beautiful.

  • So beautiful song! ...Great emotion!

  • nn ci sono parole.. una canzone che ti trasporta.. il bello è che ogni persona si fa trasportare dove vuole.

  • great dubstep

  • Simply beautiful. Probably the most emotional song of all time

  • I've listened to this song so many (f) times during funerals that I can't hear it any more.

  • What a voice! This guy could literally sing anything. It does help when you have a range of 4 octaves! And excellent genes..

  • Good, but I prefer Jon Bon Jovi

  • @sciencewars I'm also a buckleyist

  • who ever thought a voice can moisten the eyes..

  • The world around me stops when I hear his voice. Today would have been his birthday. The world lost an amazing talent way too soon.

  • @superfrenchfrys was it suicide?

  • Leonards version is better I'm sorry

  • @lokiy7 I love both versions. I adore anything by Leonard....he never sung a song he didn't write. Legend.

  • This song is Magnificent and Buckley's performance is superb! It has nothing to do with religion. It is about love and god between human beings nature.

Islam is a religion. But why do so many Muslim people have so much hatred and anger, killing brothers and sisters in the name of Islam. See September 11th, see Libya, Syria, see buses and cafes exploded buy suicide bombers in Israel murdering women, children, old and young Innocent people. Calling: "Allah ho Akbar". Make love no wars!

  • @yoyopepe5466 their brain washed, on Islam religion there is no such thing ''Kill'' it only says ''Forgive'' but some idiots killing and they are thinking it is something good for their religion but I'm a muslim and I know killing is wrong whatever it's for.

Islam's slogan is ''Don't force anyone to accept your religion''

    btw song is amazing :D:D

  • This songs got nothing to with Christianity? haha

  • @grainvillebambam This song is about sex using biblical allegory

  • I just can't help it but to sing along and cries at the same time. This version of this song is just too beautiful. Totally a great way to release my tension, especially the last hallelujah shout. :)

  • amazing (;

  • R.I.P.

  • Excelente canción.. inspiradora historia del rey David, en la voz de jeff b.

  • Powerful emotion..

  • Simply the most agonizingly beautiful version of this song ever covered, god rest his soul, the boy was a musical genius

  • All Jeff Buckley and music fans...type in 'Grace in the studio' and watch the clip. It will blow your fucking mind. The control and power of this guys voice is incredible.

  • this is the most sorrowful yet sexiest version of this song..like the way he expressed it, the love, pain, and how he screamed like orgxsm near the end.

  • I'm falling asleep at 11.14 a.m.

  • Hallelujah

  • I wish he moved in me...

  • go search forestymood, and play it at the same time

  • It's so sad to think that this great artist died the year I was born so I was never able to see him live Which I would pay anything to. The saddest part is some of my friends dont even know who Jeff buckley was, they dont know what true beuty is.

  • @kaybye1523

    He didn't even write it...

  • @iphonemarissa perhaps not, but it's hard not to admit that it's a beautiful interpretation of the song.

  • @kaybye1523 His dad Tim Buckley was amazing too, and also died very young. haunting.

  • es imposible no escucharla de comienzo a final! hermosa! y JB un groso total!

  • Thanks aliabar thats the nicest thing ive heard for a long time

    and willingman grow up

  • @DavidMiller0 yw :D

  • @defmx04 bro u can suk a dic

  • im not a christian but this song is just awesome!and pieceful

and im muslim by the way :)

    islam doesnt hate anyone :)

we are all brothers and sisters :D

  • @aliakbar515 You are right buddy.I'm muslim , too.and this song for everyone :D

  • @aliakbar515 This song is not about religion but that's a common mistake. It's actually a love song song and it talks about how loving someone so much can feel like a spiritual experience.

  • @Mellie Right, but the story of King David and Bathsheba from the Bible are used to illustrate that point. Religious stories are often used to point out universal truths, that's why they've been passed on for generations and told over and over.

  • @Briavel1 Yes but like you said, the story of David and Bathsheba are simply used to illustrate the point of the song. The song itself is not about religion or spirituality. It's about loving someone so deeply that it feels like a spiritual experience which is the point of the biblical comparison and of course why the song is entitled Hallelujah.

  • @Briavel1 I should say which is the only point of the biblical comparison.

  • @aliakbar515 Not hard to translate brother .. it literally means Praise God/Alhamdulillah ;-)

  • @altGoolam oh, ok Thx man! :D

  • @aliakbar515

That's so fuckin true! I'm muslim too and this music is just gorgeous...

  • @tiger38630 i know :D

  • @tiger38630 :D

  • @aliakbar515 thank you for your comment, but if Islam doesn't hate anyone then why does islam say that all non-believers (infidels) must be converted to islam or killed? (many muslims have told me this)

  • @LowCostVideo well is their desicion to converted to islam or not is their choice cuz islam's prophet never teach his ummah to kill someone just beacause their not islam or they doesnt want to go to islam religion

yes u might hear that a lot but thats not the real islam

is the muslim people that have no brains and stupid mine(just think violance)

but not all muslim is bad

    on 0,9999 % (TERRORIST)

  • @LowCostVideo That's wrong. Whether it's the Jews, the chretiens, if they are good people, they deserve their place in the heaven.

  • @LowCostVideo pff who told you that? Kill that person :P :D there is no such thing like that, it is just stupid people's idea

as I said before, islam's slogan is ''Don't force anyone to accept your religion'' islam based on this, %0,99 of muslims kill people for islam and it is totally wrong, stop thinking like ''All muslims are terrorist'' the terrorist's brain washed with stupid ideas.

  • @LowCostVideo It doesn't... At all. Quote me something out of the Qur'an that conveys this message, then we can have this conversation.

  • @Archangel0408 ok, how about Surah 9:5 "fight and slay the pagans (or infidels or unbelievers) wherever you find them."

  • @aliakbar515 (cough*) bullshit (cough*)

  • @aliakbar515 if everyone shared ur point of view there would be no conflict in the world....

  • @aliakbar515 this song is amazing, but it's not about religion at all, it's about a lack of faith..

  • @jackpatterson92 OWH lol kk i just noticed that, thx!

  • @aliakbar515 I've seen plenty of muslims hating on homosexuals... In The Netherlands, a criticaster of Islam was stabbed to death in broad daylight by a muslim. Islam doesn't hate anyone? Then there sure are a lot of muslims who interpret its message wrong.

  • @Styhn well everyone have their own opinion

and some off their opinion is good and some of them is not

well my opinion is islam doesnt teach people to kill or to do bad things

but some of muslim people are using the quran for something bad...

  • @Styhn

and i have seen a lot of Christian hating homosexual to.

What's your point? It's a fact that fanatic religious are a lot more obtuse and close minded generally , but i have never read in the new testament to hate homosexual people.

All the religion have their dumb fanatic asshole that tend to interpret wrong message or other totally at the letter when maybe it's just an allegory .

  • @aliakbar515 it's not a Christian song. Any religious references are Old Testament.

  • @beezzzish in fact it was written by Leonard Cohen, and I think he's Jewish.

  • @aliakbar515 So much respect for you, peace

  • @aliakbar515 You are a legend :D

  • needs a pop filter

  • truly the voice of an angel

  • i was gonna type jeff hardy

  • the funny thing about this song is that it takes the piss out of religon

  • do you know, when he recorded Hallelujah?

  • @ViolinNell

It was published in 1984 on the album Various Positions :)

  • I love this song, such beauty and mysticism. God be with Jeff Buckley.

  • @shennema If god is with Jeff Buckley, god killed Jeff Buckley.

Isn't it better to think of a barren sphere of rock spinning in the blackness of space around a non-descript star, lost in a sea of other stars, themselves invisible in a sea of galaxies, whose meteor-scarred surface fostered Life that would eventually stand upright, turning twigs into Telecasters some 4 billion years later which - for a moment of time so brief - allowed one of those lives to show us exactly what it is to be human?

  • @kunu910 I'm a Buckleyist. :-*

  • @ScienceWars im not follkowing :L

  • @kunu910 You'll be sorely missed.

  • @ScienceWars your reply is beautiful and hits every nerve of my own personal thoughts on life

  • @rmcreed27 :-*

  • I just love how the lyrics are unique and hard to understand, but it all just works together, and you magically understand what its about.

It really makes us think about life, love, family, god, family, faith and our dead loved ones, all in one heavenly tune that stays with us through highs an lows of our lives... Always there to give us a boost of confidence, and hope

    Hallelujah...

  • @MrMoomoo112233 I had a nightmare of a time trying to explain what I think these lyrics mean to my fiance, you've done it better than I did!

  • This song gives me goose bumps....hauntingly beautiful and sad.

  • RIP <3

  • Isn't this guy dead? What's that? He is? Oh, then, Hallelujah!!!! Because this song sucks

  • @defmx04 Aw man.....that was harsh.

  • The bittersweet smile just won't leave my face :)

  • This version is the best. Stop debating. Cohen's was good, but Buckley improved on it especially the guitar addition

  • is the song. and who cares about the people who don't see and hear what's so obvious - that is what is called the open secret. Enjoy that you have the eyes and ears to see and hear. I feel sorry for the people who don't get what happens in this song. He is so out of himself and so in the song.

  • 417 people are devil XD

  • i like the song but im not a huge fan of his voice.seems really week.still good.thats my opinion so if anyone wants to message me back saying how much of a cunt i am.dont bother

  • 1:20 to hear the greatest voice on earth

  • I'm crying. Kids, this is music, PURE genius -3 RIP jeff

  • too less soul (my opinion)

  • what's not to love about him..

  • Boss. fact.

  • I wanna cry...

  • His voice sends chills down my spine. The good ones :)

  • Absolutly stunning. The best version of this song :)

  • you guys should take a look at ortopilot's version of this song, i think it's a contender or even better

  • Amazing song, I'm going to make video of me singing this soon :)

  • so decent.

  • did someone say wow at the end? took the words right out of my mouth

  • Wow

  • Love this song. So sad that he died. I have not heard of him before today. Or maybe I heard his songs but did not know who was singing. At the time if his death I had a 1 and 5 year so most of the songs I listened to then were from Disney movies. Any way great version of a great song.

  • I love this song this helped me getting to a professional music group thank you

  • i truly believe this is the greatest song ever and no one can top it off better than jeff buckley

  • Does anyone think that the 'hallelujah' at 5:43 signifies the entire emotion that Leonard Cohen was trying convey in the song. The idea that even in the worst of times you have to fight to say 'hallelujah'

  • Rufus Wainwright sings a pretty good version.

  • The way he trembles with all that passion... It give me shivers...

  • Whenever he opens his mouth I expect to see blood drip out

  • Buckley doesn't just sing the song.

    He IS the song.

  • @SeventhSeaSinbad Except for, you know, Leonard Cohen.

  • @SeventhSeaSinbad Well said brother.

  • god damn all other versions

  • Why have so many people tried to ruin this song with their shitty cover version... what? I have to wade through all the crap to find the only one I want to listen to. Enough is enough... step away from the cake an make your own.

  • @1vilnius1 lol, have you tried google?

  • @1vilnius1 THIS is a cover version!

  • I think no one can hate Jeff Buckley, the ones who hate it are just jealous. I'm a huge fan, really since a long time and when he recorded this song at the final version he just said : "That really suck, not happy 'bout it, just going to do it again and again.." so before sayin you dont like it just think 'bout it and click the like button.

  • OUTSTANDING, MESMERIZING VERSION. THE WAY HE SINGS THIS SONG, REALLY DRAWS YOU IN. R.I.P.

  • fuck vevo
