I am 18 and my osgood healed up 2 years ago, but of course it left those sharp lumps in both knees. I cannot kneel and i refuse to be this way for the rest of my life.
Im hoping my health insurance will cover it but i have enough money saved if they dont. i wont to be finally rid of this bullshit.
@areyu93 and if it was a removal of the actual lump, how did they do it? im guessing they cut downward through the tendon to access the lump and then shaved it off or something?
Hey, good job on posting these videos. I don't know why the doctors try to discourage people from having the operation because in my experience it fixed the problem when nothing else ever did. Of course I had to wait until I had finished growing before they would even consider it but even then they were hesitant about doing it. Now I can run and squat and finally do sport again after almost 10 years. It's just unfortunate for those sporty kids and teenagers that there isn't a quick fix.
I'm 43 years old and had the surgery 3 days ago efter having problems for a long, long time. I finally found a doctor that seemed to know what he was talking about and created some confidence. I hope the recovery follows yours (although the difference in age is significant) since it right now hurts a lot and it feels like a long way to full recovery. How long did it take for you to be able to walk again?
do you have a picture or video of what it used to look like before? I'm 29 and still have a large bump which becomes painful when exercising. im scared to get the surgery because im afraid it will never be the same
@MrJscotti I have photos which I took right before the surgery. I will post them later when the knee is healed and I make a conclusive video about the whole experience.
Did you have an x-ray to verify that you have a fracture? It could be tendinitis, or many other things.
@IvanAndreevich yea i had an xray last year its a calcium deposit of bone which was left over from my osgood schlatters 12 years ago that is causing the lump and pain on the tendon
hey buddy was this a removal of the actual lump?

I'm thinking about moving to Canada so i could get the free surgery.... 10 years of this is too much
trulysick86 2 months ago
@trulysick86 Just go to Turkey or some other place. It's only <$5K there, which is reasonable.
It's not free here. You pay ridiculous prices for EVERYTHING, in addition to stupidly high taxes.

how much did it cost you

@MrEuler0 I'm in Canada, so that's included in my taxes. The taxes are high, so it's a lot. Probably over $5K.

@ekdahl67 I got off the crutches after 2 weeks, but I would say 3 weeks until I could walk fairly normally.
Best of luck for you.

@IvanAndreevich
Why is the bump still there?
LittleBrightLED 4 months ago
@LittleBrightLED Scar tissue. It's going away veeerry slowly. Doc said it would take 6 months or even longer to go away completely.
