@gamemak0r These are explosive exercises. The downward motion engages the abdominals, chest, arms and legs. This movement conditions the muscles for striking an opponent on the ground. As well as conditioning these muscles for throws and slams. These are conditioning exercises for fighting and should not be confused with strength training. These exercises target muscle fibres which are generally not engaged using "conventional" exercise methods. They are fight specific. Hope this helps.

When breathing gets impaired and oxigen is no longer available the body responds by producing more red blood cells. Red blood cells are responsible for transporting oxiden, so when utilizing high altitude training your body gets better at transporting oxigen which is priceless in a fight
That chain pressing looked intense! It all did but the balance of the chains must have been weird. Wonder how much harder it was with the limited oxygen levels?
what I mean is people think oxygen resistance is good like more weight when trying to improve strength, but oxygen is different its like drinking water for hydration. you wouldn't drink water at home then train and not hydrate right? there's a reason only Wandy does this, and it's not like it's been working.
these things are a scam unfortunately. You should live low oxygen and train high oxygen. You adjust if ya sleep and chill high up (low O). So than if you train sea level (higher O) it will make you train longer, better and harder because your body is getting more energy when it demands it. sleeping and chilling in higher O and then training with lower O will just stress your body and is detrimental to skill building, and growth in most aspects. Does that make logical sense? like hydration.

It's unfortunate in mma, that so many coaches don't understand the mechanics of the body, or how to develop proper power in an effective and safe way. To the untrained eye, it's hardcore, to the trained professional, Wanderlei is prime for a slip disc. His "olympic/deadlift (don't know what it was), was so utterly terrible.
@IHACKER316 first of all, mouth breathing will screw up your breathing rhythm, you want to get maximum oxygen into your lung not restricting it. The snorkel thing is fucking ridiculous, whoever came up with that shit should be shot. It is like fighting while holding your breath. Secondly, doing circuit only help you to be good at doing circuit. All the exercises should be focused on making you a better athlete meaning he should be doing agility, explosive power, speed, strength drills.

Yes. It teaches to transfer power from your leg drive into your punch while at the same time training the muscles used in the very movement you are trying to improve. Excellent drill.

We wrestled tractor tires (bigger than these, takes two guys), sledgehammered to split wood and drive fence posts and break rocks, hauled hay bales, and on and on. It's amusing to see those activities now part of training. At the same time, the kids who grow up out there are incredibly fit, strong and have day-long endurance. So it makes sense to train this way.
@8s8lw8d The quality of air must be good also but i bet most of these kids end up having an alcohol problem and not eating correctly and eventually fucking up their health once they hit their 30s.

I went on to work with Army Special Forces and at 44 I'm far more fit than most 18 year-old athletes (notice I didn't say 18 year-olds in general). So I think the foundation that was set held pretty well. I'm successful in business (top .01% of income earning) and train every day. Married, two kids, no issues. I also trained a lot of martial arts.
This fighter is a monster, he ja overthrew large enemies in their fighting, hope always to it, because I'm Brazilian and he represents well their struggles but need to improve a little more.

You almost HAVE to use PEDs to maintain this kind of training, its too hard on the body. Steroids aren't even cheating anymore really, its just evening the playing field. If you aren't using, you're a step behind.
I know Alejarra is one of the best trainer ,but i don't like Wanderlei when train with him since pride gp 2005 total elimination ,i think he change his body ,so much power ,but not so agility like before .Fortunatly now change again his personal trainer and vs Bisping he was good fisically .Now Alejarra i know train Cris Santos cyborg ....

@loztbooyah I know it can get you stronger. I was replying to someone that said it was the clean and jerk while it was a clean and press. A clean and jerk is when you explode it up using leg drive. Also the way he was doing it is light and is meant more for cardio and not so much strength. You can get some strength from it but that wasn't the purpose here.

@elven1231 I'm no professional but i think the theory behind this is as following. It's both cardio as strength.
You need strenght to pick up the sledge, when you hit the tire the sledge bounces back, you need strenght to keep in controll of the sledge.
Because the sledge is only a certain weight he can make a large number of repetitions.
Less weight = more repetitions = more cardio
More weight = less repetitions = more strenght

@fyschy the thing he is wearing is so he doesnt breath through his nose, he does this so he can only breathe through his mouth, making it harder to get oxygen, he is trying to simulate a fight when sometimes u cant breathe through ur nose

@loztbooyah I know it can get you stronger. I was replying to someone that said it was the clean and jerk while it was a clean and press. A clean and jerk is when you explode it up using leg drive. Also the way he was doing it is light and is meant more for cardio and not so much strength. You can get some strength from it but that wasn't the purpose here.
