Nice video I loved this game as a teenager. My sister and almost threw up at the end with the heads in the sacks.

It's a giant permecium basically.
the aliens look like giant mutated bacteria and have an affinity to machines, and electricity, and can take over a planet's technology, while buliding a reproductive nest in the core of the planet. Very weird, and I had to figure all this out myself, cuz the game did a piss-poor job of fleshing out any story.
