  • Magnífica canción. Su música es perfecta!!!!! ...........

  • Better than the studio version!

  • The coooooolest guys to ever play music...They were soulful and awesome long before any of today's artists were even born. I wish the younger people of today could have known the passion and beauty that inspired gorgeous songs like this...and so many other beautiful Hall and Oates tracks...sheer magic...

  • going to see them 9/11/ 2011.. in Lincoln ca..

  • @doorgunnerAmerical

One day, a naked guy was walking close to the school I work @...the mom who reported the nudie to us was freaking out!!!! My collegue asked, "was he wearing shoes?" I turned to her & asked, "what the h--- does that have to do w/ anything!?" Which is what I say to you, too, sir...thanks for sharing!

  • THIS SONG JUST GAVE ME THE CHILLS I COULD'VE SWORN I WAS TRANSPORTED BACK TO THE 80'S SO MANY MEMORIES JUST FLOODED BACK ESPECIALLY SURROUNDING THIS SONG , GETS ME MISTY EYED AND BELIEVE ME ITS NOT EASY FOR ME TO GET SO OVER COME BUT I GUESS HALL AND OATS DOES THAT TO ME

  • g. smith has been seen playing with roger waters on his new tour !!! legend guitar player xxx

  • PERFECTION.

  • Unreal. This is the perfect live Hall and Oates video

  • Back in the day, my hair was blond and my older brother's hair was brunette. Hall and Oates reminds me of my brother and I when we were running a major-appliance repair shop in Bowling Green, Ky.

He was going through a divorce, so it was a difficult time for both of us. I was doing my best to keep him from going off and doing something stupid.

One night, we were walking back to the shop. He freaked out. He thought his dog, Scruffie, had been killed. I thought so, too. It was a rug!

  • still love these guys

  • Just saw them last weekend in A.C....were great but show was too short.

  • @evporretta WOW great for you...I'm sooooooo jealous...LOL!!!

  • @evporretta WOW great for you...I'm sooooooo jealous...LOL!!! Next to "cab driver" by DH..."Wait for me" is my favorite by the group. Peace friend.

  • Remember this being on the BBC on primetime. Great show, good memories.

  • Daryl Hall said T-Bone was the & in Hall & Oates. RIP

  • Daryl has passion!!!

  • Who plays the Guitar?

  • @Mesalonika G.E Smith plays guitar for them.

  • @Guitfiddlejase Thank you . G.E.Smith is great!!

  • Two of the most talented musicians/singers anywhere.

  • GE Smith provides icing on the cake!

  • This is Hall and Oates at their best! "Midnight hour is almost over..."

  • LOOOOVE this live version!!!

  • Spectacular, powefrul but most of all so very touching song. One of my all time favourites and this is a very interesting live version I had never seem before. What show is this ? Great addition.

  • @mflores910...whenever I hear this song, it makes my heart ache -- for two reasons now. 1. Because it seems it always sound too good to be true; 2. for what you wrote. Listen, remember, make the most of the time we have here to hear something as amazing as this!

  • from the late 70s to the mid 80s were for me the greatest era ...the golden era of music. From the American to the british music scene.....mtv was still mtv... and H2O was one of my favorites...im glad i was able to watched them live in the 90s during their Asian tour...they were called to the stage to do an encore 3 times!! i terribly miss the 80s!

  • When prince wrote "God" he certainly had the end of this song in mind !

  • I never had the x-static cd. I'm going to have to get it now that you've mentioned that. I always liked H&O but didn't really become a die-hard fan until about 1983. Do you remember which album the song Your Imagination came from? That was another one of my favorite H&O tunes-not one alot of people remember. Real catchy song. When I purchase any H&O cds, I usually get the "greatest hits" type of collections, so I've probably missed out on some good songs by not getting the regular albums.

  • My favorite H & O song. Simply wonderful!!!!

  • Quando sono fuori, per favor aspettami..

  • G.E. Smith rocks! Listen to that opening solo.

  • @tgear77 His solo is one of the reasons this is one of my favorite H&O songs.

  • @auntstacey123 I loved him in H&O and then he led the house band on Saturday Night Live for years and they rocked.

  • @auntstacey123 oh yeah! and thats why roger waters picked him to go on tour w him im sure!

  • @RJW882 I love how he makes that thing talk. I think he was very underrated as a guitarist in the 80's though he did have tremendous respect from other artists. I think he also used to play with the late Dan Hartman. He's on some of his videos.

  • @auntstacey123 oh yeah! he was playing bass w/ him actually... then he was in desmond child and Rouge , on guitar, and not too long after Hall &Oates! also for 80s blues guitarists i put him right up there w/ Stevie Ray, Jimmie vaughan and Robert cray

  • @RJW882 When I saw him live for the 1st time, I was blown away by just how good he really was.

  • @auntstacey123 really? when was that?

  • @RJW882 April 20th, 1985 with H&O on the BIg Bam Boom tour. He had a very charismatic presence that sometimes seemed to overshadow Daryl & John at times. Remember when they played the song Open All Nite, a girl I knew"passed" out. This was when concerts were general admission then and got very crowded esp. around the stage. GE kneeled down and placed the guitar next to her head after T-Bone pulled her on the stage during his solo. It was really cool! I think she was faking it though.

  • @auntstacey123 Wow! thats quite an experience at a show. too bad they didnt film it. also they played "Open All Night" on the Big Bam boom Tour?

  • @RJW882 Yes, they played it around the middle of the concert along with Art of a Heartbreak. Then they showcased each individual performer. They didn't just play songs from the Big Bam Boom album, they played quite a few from the 70's & the majority of the Rock & Soul songs such as I Can't Go For That & Adult Education. It was one of the best concerts I have ever seen & I've seen a few legends. Daryl Hall is one of the best live performers ever along with GE, T-Bone. Epic lineup that year.

  • @RJW882 I didn't mean to leave John out either. He has a great voice and also sang some really good tunes. I just wish he had done more songs. Also, Daryl's mullett had gotten so long he almost looked like a headbanger. Thank goodness he finally cut it!!!

  • @auntstacey123 Yeah both he and GE had that Johnny thunders hi top mullet thing going and daryl ended up looking like steve adler by the end of the tour and GE put a blonde skunk stripe in his kind of like Keith richards around the time you saw him. Also im not sure if Open all Night was on the setlist for the tour cause they didnt do it at liberty park I know it was in the setlist for the Rock N soul tour a year before that but still cool they brought it back out.

  • @RJW882 They did do it on the setlist at the concert I attended. They may not have done it at every venue because they played so many on that tour. I remember hoping that they would play it and was glad they did. I especially loved the ending and how it fades out to the drumbeats at the end. Going Thru the Motions was one of the encores, I just can't remember if they played it before or after You Make My Dreams Come True.

  • @RJW882 I remember watching the Liberty Park Concert on HBO. The setlist didn't quite match up to the one I saw. It could be that some of it was edited out. I've seen the Eagles several times and they were always changing songs from venue to venue on the same tour so I guess some bands just add or subtract as they go along depending on their mood or what they think works. But yes, I definitely remember Open All Nite being played before the band intros and the T-Bone rap. God bless his soul!

  • @auntstacey123 Yeah, T-Bone was great! He would do these semi-obscure rock tunes during intros when they first started that lineup. Also not sure if you saw i but i mentioned that all the band members from past and present came together for a special performance dedicated to T- Bone on Live from daryls house last year and it was a real treat! of course GE Smith was there and sounded great with them as always. Mickey curry was one of the drummers as well. truly the Hall & Oates Orchestra indeed!

  • @RJW882 Miss seeing T-Bone with them. You could tell he and Daryl were very close. Almost seemed like it was more about T-bone and Daryl than it was Daryl and John. Missed that episode from LFDH. I'm going to have to look it up. Don't you love how well Daryl can adapt to singing with any artist and how he can sing anything and make it sound good? Lot's of performers don't do good remakes of others songs but he does IMO.

  • @auntstacey123 absolutely! a few of my faves besides that one were " the Robbie Krieger/Ray Manzerek" episode, obviously, lol. Daryl sung the s*** outta those! Nick Lowe " Cruel to be kind" whom T-Bone and GE both worked on a record with..... Todd Rundgren when they did wait for me. Todds great and added a different feel to the lead guitar work. but my fave will always be GE smith on that song cause it sounds real vocal or something..

  • @auntstacey123 the story i used to tell people was that it was his debut on guitar with them basically. cause for those who dont know its off the X-static album the infamous rock/ disco album that im sure people either loved/hated. Me i liked it personally GE was doing that style w Desmond Child so it fit in... anyway the solo that kicks off the song has to be one of the most memorable intros in history next to "Layla" and even "all the young dudes" very underrated and hit worthy!

  • @RJW882 I liked the episode where they did the Boz Scaggs song(another one of my fave artists). I also liked the Samantha Birch episode. The Todd Rundgren episode was great too. I also liked Chromeo-they kind of have the 80's vibe with a touch of H&O. I wish the viewers could make suggestions about who they would like to see on an episode. You seem to have alot of 80's musical knowledge. Who do you think would make a great guest?

  • @auntstacey123 thats cause thats when i was born and i was real young when i came across Hall & Oates, it was right at the end of the Big Bam Boom tour when they did the Liberty concert so i first saw that over 20 years ago and i was very fortunate for that. as far as guests, well theres alot but a few would be Eric Clapton, Tom petty & the Heartbreakers... Noel Gallagher.... Lenny Kravitz.... John Mayer, Jeff Beck... John waite.. to name a few

  • @auntstacey123 Im pretty sure Going thru The Motions was the encore, right? also yeah from 1981-1985 that was the classic Rock N soul lineup. After GE would do a solo hed talk a little bit about some things and introduce Charlie and praise his suit! and say how he just wanted his black like Johnny cash or something...

  • @tgear77 i agree, G.E Smith an absolute asset to hall and oates, absolutely brilliant and the opening solo awesome!!. good to see someone else out there appreciated the talent of the man.cheers

  • @pbritten1 same here, man, been a fan as long as i can remember...GE brought alot of energy to the band. and his guitar tone matched D's powerful vocals and John didn't mind being the rhythm section and would play some great solos for certain songs... speaking of they did a great job when all the musicians reunited for a performance dedicated to T Bone on LFDH last year. hopefully theyll do one of those again in the near future...

  • "Wait for me, wait for meee, ou ou OU" (let´s get this over with)

  • Johnny Oates is pretty good at singing too! Listen to him while: "Wait for me, Wait for me, wait for me..."

  • A-L-W-A-Y-S loooved the guitar solo at the end... no matter which version ...it should go on and on an on an on

  • @jetset900 yeah i hear ya... kind of when slash would do that in GNR.... they used to have band intros with some cool solos. I heard this one from a tour in 83 a little after the Montreal performance they would do sweet soul music and go into a medley and GE did a solo for that and youd think he was channeling Hendrix or something!..... anyone whom was lucky enough to see them live around this time surely knows!

  • @RJW882

Right!! ...GE is such a great artist & often the 70s/80s arrangement/ mastering/ instrument settings do the rest of the flavor. It's killing me! There are also pretty cool solos in the tube from Neil Schon, Lukather, Sykes etc...

  • That guitar solo in the beginning is frigging GREAT!!!!!

  • Wait for me!!!!!!

  • Magnificent song, one of my favourite ones ever!!!!! Hall & Oats were amazing!!!...and the guitar!!!!!! :-)

Thank for sharing such great memories.

  • that looks like the captain from police academy on the guitar

  • sorry all, what happened to T-Bone??? He was awsome!!!

  • My very first concert I ever went to, Private Eyes tour. I saw them 5 more times in the 80's. SUPERB MUSICIANS............

  • omg where to get this concert, this track. best quality!!!

  • Does Daryl have a pedal effect near his left hand below the piano knob controls?

  • Midnight hour, almost over.. How I love that song.. merveilleux duo qui reste dans mon coeur !

  • Daryl has the most ROMANTIC and PASSIONATE voice EVER!!!

  • darhyl always gave it that extra mile when he was on the charlie haha

  • RIP T-Bone! Love this song!!!

  • How could 26 yrs. go by so fast? This brings back so many memories.

  • X-static was the most underated and underplayed album they made.a rarity that every song was great.Oates once said it was his favorite break from the sometime depressing,"she's gone" era and was full of feel good upbeat music like "portable radio".proving what versitility, honest song writing can do for longevity.truly an American classic band that has withstood the test of time.long live Hall&Oates, and they are!

  • @stymie86 Yeah, songs like "I'm Just A Kid", "Laughing Boy", "Do What You Want," "August Day", "Have I Been Away Too Long?" all from albums that were fairly somber in comparison to "X-Static".

  • @fortehlulz9999 and don't forget "Woman comes and goes" arguably their best!

  • @stymie86 Love that one live! Wish Hall played the electric piano on the classic versions I have heard. That piano groove just does it for me. :)

  • I always enjoyed Hall and Oates...ahh those were the days.

  • classic.

  • Never was a big H&O fan, but I like this song. Funny..this reminds me of a guy I used to know who looked just like Daryl (face, hair style, height, etc.). He was my sister's friends boyfriend. EVERYONE always thought it was Daryl. He wasn't a musician though. He was a hair dresser.

  • you bring me back to when music was great , they don't make music like this any more.

  • It seems like artists today aren't as passionate in their performances.

  • 'Incredible performance!

What a fabulous song! What emotion! This is why I love Hall and Oates.

George Smith makes that Les Paul cry! (I am soooo jealous of his playing!)

This is what music is meant to be!

  • What an awesome guitar solo! Remember that girl that you wanted to wait for you?

  • TRUE GREATNESS,,,,, Hall And Oats

  • G.E. Smith rocks that solo

  • My fave H+O song. great version, this would be the tour I saw them on when I was but a wee lad. Nice to see T-Bone (alas, RIP) G.E., Mickey Curry and Charlie. Fond memories!

  • RIP T-Bone. I was blessed to be able to see you perform with the most amazing rock duo in history. I guess Heaven lucked out--they got one of the best bass players ever.

I was listening to you do the T-Bone rap last nite on an old recording of the King Biscuit Flower Hour. I did not know you were already gone. So many memories...

  • RIP T-Bone ...you're a huge reason why I love Hall and Oates since my childhood....you were always just as important and I know Hall and Oates would agree

Thank You for sharing your gifts with the world

  • guitarist after this was on SNL for years!

  • Do the right thing.

    (it's on the piano)

  • it's the best hall and oates4 ever

  • This is a great Hall and Oats song many of my friends don't even know about. Highly underrated.

  • yes one the best bands, great in concerts

    Saw them twice.

  • Does anyone remember their song, "Kerry"? If so, could you post it? I can't find it anywhere! If so, thanx in advance!

  • i think its not kerry, try CARRIE maybe this is the one you are looking for!

  • No luck! I would really be upset with myself if that is all it woul've taken to find it. I know my mom used to keep a helmet on me & I rode the short yellow bus but....LOL! Thankx for the suggestion though

  • Daryl is THE GREATEST and there's just no word on earth to describe what he means to me....he's my real first love and hope one day have the chance to meet him...so bad

  • hall n oates rule

  • Stellar Hall & Oates. Daryll had a voice that was equal to none. I saw the Big, Bam, Boom-Live Through '85 Tour" in Memphis in Feb. 1985. What a blast that was; the 1.5 hour show went by in a minute. G.E. Smith-exceptional guitarist. T-Bone, amazing bass player, and the saxaphonist-so GQ and smooth! I guess you just have to say W-O-W!!!, everytime you go back back, listen to these guys and reminisce. How can anybody argue the 80s was not the best decade of them all, for music?

  • @gtmobayer

Yeah, also to me Daryl Hall & GE Smith were like the Rod Stewart & Jeff Beck of the states! Such great musicianship!

  • Just one more reason I enjoyed growing up in the 70's and 80's. They don't make them like they used to! These guys were great!

Also, used to see G.E. Smith play in New Haven, Ct. years ago with the "Scratch Band." Wow!

Hi G.E. remember the Arcadia Ballroom?

  • gran cancion

  • I was two when this was going on but was lucky enough to be brought up by two Hall&Oates fans. Mesmorising!

  • Brings back some good memories. Great song!

  • I wish i could watch this concert in a movie theatre

  • I get chills every time I watch this!

  • MIDNIGHT THATS RIGHT

  • Great song from one of the greatest duo in Music! Amazing live performance ! And this song is one of their best!

  • He doesnt age either! Love them!!!!!!!!!!

  • His voice is still the same today, after all those years.

  • Hall n Oates, one of the best bands, great music, pure vocals always, versatile, great songs. One of the most underrated bands. Whatever happened to them???

  • vsdp...underrated you say? What planet have you been living on.....they've been totally acknowledged. damn-

  • Still on tour as of this summer and putting aout a box set.

  • if any guy thinks that I am going to wait for them ....they better get a better life because i HATE TO WAIT FOR ANYONE

  • Hony you're waiting right now!!!!!!

  • you got a lot to learn if you think that im not waitin for you ...

  • best line in the whole song!

  • Quelle émotion je ressens quand j'écoute.. chaque fois, ça m'émeut

  • This must be the live version I have on their greatest hits cassette, that's right, "cassette tape," when music was music!!!!! I grew up with the best music this world has ever known, 65 thru early 80s. The 70's was to die for, everything about it!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • I was there in march of 86'..one word...incredible :)

  • Had the biggest crush on Darryl. Look at him in his prime!!!

  • I love GE Smith!!!!

  • I adore the flexibility in Daryl's voice. Thanks for the nice quality.Sooo good!

  • Awesome. One of H&O's top hits. G.E. Smith kicks it with choice riffs, as well Darryl and John's harmonizing vocals setting the tone of the song, which is the story of many a couple's lives... including me...

  • If you ever saw GE Smith leading the Sat night live band ,amazing guitars and more funny faces .Its Rock And Roll!

  • mr smith what can we say ,,,,,, mucho thanks the power behind the throne xx always a beer waiting for you in sunny yorkshire England

  • G.E Smith is the perfect counter point to Hall and Oates , what a GREAT guitar player . More should playh like this!!!!.

  • Certainly, I agree, great guitarist. Maybe if he took a laxative, he could get that look off his face.

  • That G. E. Smith guitar solo is just the greatest! I think that I basically fucked up my (main-stream), education trying to figure it out!!

It's actually better on Rock & Soul Part One where he uses a Telecaster to great effect. He is a very under-rated player and I'm so glad that he has got some recognition out of Fender after all these years.

  • G.E. Smith was one of the unsung heroes of the 80s. He was the power of Hall and Oates. I remember watching all these crappy SNL shows just to watch him and the band playing in and out of the breaks.

  • Is it me or does this have agreat Todd Rundgren feel to it? I know Todd produced these guys early on.

Great GE Smith guitar lead, too.

  • Hall & Oates toured briefly with Todd a few years ago and Todd played lead on this song and actually traded lead vocals with Daryl. It was amazing. This was at Jones Beach Theater in NY.

  • Wow, I would have loved to see that show.

  • REALLY good song.

  • g.e. smith Rulz!!!!!!!

  • 2:10 BEST PART!

  • Damm i remeber calling the radio station requesting it for Cindy and Tommy...LOL 80's thing...Still love this song

  • hall and oates el mejor duo que existe que bella cancion

  • first fusion of disco rock and soul, hall & oates took the worlds soul and ran with it, They make my whole life a more profound experience. and Wait for Me, classic, especially when taking the beltway to school

  • Phenomenal. These guy's never got their respect. They broke color barriers and let the world know white folks got soul too. I admit regretfully, I was one of the one's screaming "they are taking our music." I can say my thinking has evolved. They continue to prove to me it is a heart & soul thing and not a just a color thing.

I hope this group sings till their 90 years old and beyond.

  • It's funny you should say that about white folks with soul; there IS "white soul" [ex. Darryl Hall, John Mellencamp, to name two]. During "We Are the World" Tina Turner said the vocalists she was most impressed were "the white males," [esp. Steve Perry, Darryl Hall, Kenny Loggins, and yep...Huey Lewis!] TRUE STORY. Read it right in Rolling Stone magazine.

  • Thanks, I'll have to check that out sometime. I was in like fourth grade when that "We are the World" project came out. One Friday we got to have "popcorn" for good behavior and watched the "making of' video it at school.

  • good stuff....nothing like daryl....nothing

  • canciones como esta ya no hay..........ahora sólo se escuchan puras tonterias........................que viva la buena musica¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • great song¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡

  • What a vocalist... Daryl is amazing. One of the best singers on the planet... I miss them so much!!! Get their greatest hits CD it's the bomb.

  • indeed it is! I have it on vinyl...

  • GE was an incredible guitarist! Great vocals by Daryl Hall! This video brings back some fine memories - thanks for posting!

  • 1 of my favrots by them

  • Outstanding!

  • "all the time we spend must be good for something" the best line in this great song!!

  • keeping with 80s tradition they coulda named the band "the hall, oates, & smith project"........G.E. added a lot of soul !!

  • G.E SMITH IS THE MAN!!!

  • Love it! This song gives me a warm and happy feeling!

  • Awesome.

  • trully amazing

  • awe...i love this so much...thank you.....

  • Brilliant!!! G.E. Smith....

  • Reminds me of so many fantastic memories of my late wife, I love you babe.................

  • Huge Fan! Can't get over Daryl's changes to the 2nd verse over the recorded version. I love how they sometimes change up the melodies live. They are a true talent.

  • This is just fantastic.. brings back very fond memories... I was there at Wembley in

1984... just hope they ( or Daryl ) perform in the UK soon... I have withdrawal symptoms

  • 29 years ago I sat in Lorie's driveway on New Year's Eve and heard this song for the first time. You know, I'm still waiting......
