@god0fgod No, it'll be the Dolby Pro Logic. Part of the sound is in stereo (ie Left or Right Channel). Some are mono (ie Left AND Right channel together (ie CENTRE if available)).

Speakers move in (-1) and out (+1). When they do this together (L+1 R+1 or L-1 R-1) it's in phase. When they oppose (L-1 R+1 or L+1 R-1) they're out of phase.

With a Dolby Pro Logic decoder sounds that are in-phase appear at the front speakers and sounds that are out of phase are sent to the back speakers.

@FacStudios It depends on the PC output and the type of surround sound system you're using. If you're using a 'surround sound kit in a box' type thing (through multichannel) I expect the output formats are limited.

My PC is hooked up to my Onkyo TXSR308, which gives me Pro Logic II and DTS NEO:6 options (as well as everything up to DTS-MA and 5.1LPCM)

My PC outputs native audio (ie Stereo), my AVR assigns the speakers based on it's setting (ie PLII will send some matrixed sound to rear).
