This is what my dad does, and we used to live on fort sill, we just moved to fort knox about a year ago. We lived in fort sill for about 12 years. Its really cool to watch these shoot off. :)
Some of the best times that I've had in the Army was a gun Chief on the M270. After over 10 years on the guns and a promotion to E-7 I had to move on. But oh how I miss the guns and being a chief. 92Y sucks 13M rocks
Hell Ya Steel Rain baby.... I served 8 years in MLRS at Fort Sill twice and Germany in between. Many, many rockets put down range by me and my soldiers...Nice video and God Bless SSG Flaherty
Yeah i remember them showing this video when i graduated from AIT. Wow that brings up some memories. I think a little of the footage was changed a little. but oh does it bring back some memories
MLRS = 24 MILLION DOLLAR piece of shyte. The sytems are outdated and always dropping, expecially there Digital Radio Freq. 5 day field problem you can expect one to be down 2 of those days.
I was with the 5-3 FA BN "FIRST ROUNDERS". Nothing like seeing those rockets launch from a few feet away. Just want to say good luck to the soldiers that will deploy in the near future. THE 17TH BDE deployed to Iraq in April of 2003 to April of 2004. That was on hell of a year. Something i will never forget. If i had to do it again..I WOULD in a heart beat. And yes the field is the best time for combat arms unit.
yea im here right now, ima 13M. the launches are pretty fuckin sweet in person if your watchin from like 100 feet away. Inside the launches you dont see nothin u just get to get out afterwards with a fire extinguisher and put on a fire you made lol. AMMO SUCKS. Other than the launches everything about fort sill is extra boring and shitty.
Hey Squarerig what should we do just sit around and smoke pot and love each other all day? People Like you is why we need people like myself and prm2188. People that even though they know that the decision to go to war might not be politicaly pc for you. We still have the guts to FIGHT for this country. Sory dude but I get a nice chill down my spine when I hear the National Anthem and I did and will go again to war for this country so sit back and enjoy those memories of the 60's dude!!
prm2188 Thankk you for the comment but, always the but! What do you do if the foe fires first?I am quite old and have seen many "boys" marching off to war.The victory parades never display the deformed, the limbless and blind. We hear only of "glorious" victories and that our politicians are always "willing to pay the price, any price"-but at our expense. They never go.Give it some thought, please and good luck with the gun.
My Son's Home Base is Ft. Sill, Oklahoma, His MOS is Field Artiliary..MLRS Directional Fire Specialist. To my Son in Iraq....HOOAH! God Bless you Son, and the US Army!
@Squarerig well after being hit by a MRLS hopefully the foe is destroyed. Ft. Sill is the home of the Field Artillery Training Center and its in Oklahoma.
first of all ur 23 so don't shove that kid stuff in my face. i spent 6 months in ft chill aka sill. moms night club, peoples cab, what other things should i mention to shut u up. I was in A 1/78 13m so piss off. 2 blocks away from main px and down the road from the jar heads barracks. your a ignorant peace of shit so piss off lawton has highest std rate out of all usa military towns aka the Lawton lizards comment.
As a Mom of a Soldier from Ft. Sill, I want to "Thank you" for protecting my freedom. My Son graduated from basic in March 08, has finished a tour in S. Korea, and is being deployed Nov. 09. He is a MLRS Directional SPC. To my Son, and to you all "HOOAH!"
I was a 27M and was real cool with the 13M cause i was good at fixing the faults with the track...the A1s are better and faster but if they brake down it will take a long time to fix
I graduated back in 1985, when mlrs was very new. I was fire direction, but my mos was 15j. (MLRS/lance fire direction specialist.. Oh the good old days at ft sill..
To dowmerritt: 13P is fire direction. The actual M.L.R.S. crewmembers are 13M. So, your son won't really do the things in the video. He'll basically relay coordinates to the launcher via radio.
Thank you for this video. My son is at Ft. Sill right now training for his MOS of 13P for the MLRS. This video gives me something to share with his family and friends.

All the best times @ Ft. Sill were in the field - garrison sucks for combat arms soldiers.
Good luck to all the young troops going to the sandbox or training to fight in all the other armpits of the world.
