5 stars, We the people of America should be listen too and we the people are responsible for guiding congress and the President, not corporations and government.
"We the people" are corporations and we're also supposed to run the government.
Propaganda is beginning to control the people that fail to realize that we depend on these corporations who run our country.
If we penalize corporations, we only hurt ourselves. The cost is transfered to us. Free market enterprise is the basis of our economy and it's the force which has built us into the most powerful and influential nation in the world.
1) they teach to adults not to kids, they need to remember what its like to be younger
2) they teach in one style, the most succesful teachers are those that can explain things different ways, using analogies and pictures and different strategies
3) they don't care, if you get it, they love u. if you don't get the first time, well screw u, that's ur problem
Who is Ron Paul? He has never voted to raise taxes. He has never voted for a federal restriction on gun ownership. He has never voted to raise congressional pay. He has never taken a government-paid junket. He has never voted to increase the power of the executive branch. He voted against the Patriot Act. He voted against regulating the Internet. He voted against the Iraq war. He returns a portion of his annual congressional office budget to the U.S. treasury every year. Knowledge is power!
In school I remember my Trigonometry teacher getting upset with me because most of the class couldn't understand what he was attempting to get across, so I jumped up to the blackboard and managed to make it clear to everyone. He was a nice guy, but his teaching style was to regurgitate what the text book said in a monotone delivery. I loved math & science, but when I had a bad teacher it made learning harder. With a great teacher you can get kids to learn things they aren't even interested in!
Definitely - I tell young people that the college teaching method is completely different than what they've grown up with. I would like to get these college professors interested in teaching public schools by offering them the same job structure offered through college teaching.
Very well said David. I get very frustrated when I see kids, but especially adults, who are not only ignorant of science, history and current events, but apathetic. We can't expect a government that works if the citizens aren't involved and informed! As for responding to citizens, I can't see how any candidate could justify not having time to communicate directly with a handful of those they want to vote for them!
Also, our society often tells kids that doing well in school and being interested in learning is to be a geek, which is considered a bad thing! There's something really messed up about a culture that looks down on intelligence and wisdom!

Community Counts is a mashup of the YouChoose Spotlight. To be included, a candidate has to have a week in the Spotlight.

YES - For myself and the friends I grew up with. It wasn't really that we couldn't do math, but that we were uninterested.
I didn't find a fondness for mathematics until I was much older. So I do tend to blame that apathy on the school system.
I have a niece refusing to understand math and I'm trying to show her the fun rather than the strict discipline which forces math on her.

I think that's actually the focus of the Public School System.
By comparison; I know that it works differently for those in private schools.
