i know this sounds probably so dumb but do turtles need a filter

@GShockKiiD the water will get too dirty for the turtles and it could harm them. i mean if you really wanted to..you would have to do water changes a lot but i would recommend a filter! :)

@200shaq I'm sorry! what filter do you have? I don't get sand in mine because I put rocks at the bottom where the water hits the sand so it doesn't mix up the sand

Help!!! I got a rescue red eared slider (some guy on my street found him in his front yard) and dont know how to set up the tank. I just got a 40g tank off craigslist. This will do until I can afford a MUCH bigger tank (the turtle is an adult i think. its about 8 in. long) i dont know how to put it up. What goes inside the water, what doesn't? I have a Whisper 40i.

@ChuckHitler get a basking dock for the turtle to completely dry off and then buy a water heater and set the water temp for 72-75 degrees and have a heat bulb and uvb bulb over the basking area

Its looks pretty kewl. My tank for right now is a temporary rabbit cage bottom filled with dirt and water xD I found my baby turtle in the wild, so it was unexpected, ya know?

@llNatureGal isn't it illegal to take a baby turtle from the wild? Unless it was injured or came onto your property but i still think you need to call someone if that ever happened

Does your basking spot float or is it stuck to the side of the tank ?

@MeezyBouahom Hey sorry to answer your question so late! It is a whisper filter. They are really cheap. You can find them at walmart and pet stores:)
