Great video thank you. Sounds like a very special series. Original ":bullet train" and also what a record they have in safety and reliablilty. These videos give me a feeling of home sickness. In other words how much I miss visiting or staying in Japan.
panacealand, the head car of Shinkansen 0 series from the set of R61was preserved beside the 151 series kodama at the front of the gate of Kawasaki heavy industries Ltd.
This is still the nicest !!!! high speed train in the world...especially the 0 series is wonderfull....this design is a masterpiece!! Best regards from Germany!
This train is the 0 series KODAMA that ran on November 29. 0 series KODAMA finished use on November 30. 0 series HIKARI was run as the special train on December 6, 13 and 14. We can never actually see any longer the scene which 0 series runs.
Hello!(^o^) Right. Shinkansen train in this video is called "series 0" (Zero-kei). This Shinkansen train withdraws November 30, 2008 at the end, and is disassembled. Series 0 was born in October, 1964. So many people were carried for 44 years without resting every day. We can watch this Shinkansen only several days. Therefore, so many people have gathered.
I'm wishing that you're able to come to Japan and take the Shinkansen some day.
Hello. I've never been to Japan, i've never seen any of Shinkansen trains before and never heard about this make, but as I watched your video, I immediately become extremely sorry for that train being withdrawn, and as I red the subtitles I could not believe that it was introduced 44 years ago! In 1964 it must have looked like a marvel from another planet! You Japanese really got the most advanced technology on Earth and always have had.
2. And now you're telling us that it is going to be just disassembled? They not gonna preserve even a single unit? I just cannot believe it, how can they just scrap something that served your country for 44 years and at the time it was created had no match as the best and fastest train on Earth? Maybe i just know too little about your culture. Regards.
3216 cars of Shinkansen "series 0" ware manufactured from 1964 to 1986. They are 201 unit when computed from one unit 16. Series 0 is registered as "Mechanical Engineering Heritage." in Japan. First cars (front face) has already been exhibited in National Railway Museum in your country(UK), at many museums in Japan, and are kept in Hamamatsu of JR Tokai in Japan.
Hi there! Now everything makes a sense. You meant that particular unit was to be scrapped but some are preserved as they should be. It was just unclear by the way you described it on the video. Now I'm gonna visit the National Railway Museum soon, I can't wait to see that train :)
2) All the car that are not preserved are vandalized for scrap metal. I don't know whether this train preserves movement. The body width of the Shinkansen is wide, so this train can run only on the railroad track of the Shinkansen. If it runs again at one time, it costs the maintenance expense. But, I hope for the movement preservation only 1 or 2 unit.
2) Well, if the body width of 0 series matches that of 700 series, it should not cost that much to maintain, cause the railroad has to be maintaned anyway to run 700 series, all the extra cost is the 0 series unit maintenance. Even if it won't be run anymore, at least we can still see it in museums so they'll be always remembered. Thanks for your kind response.
