I'm a smoker, and when anyone asks about it I always say there is nothing more deadly than life. Some cigarettes within an already signed and papered death penalty doesn't mean crap. I do it because I like it, and cigarettes really are an all purpose placebo. They make you hungry if you're not, if you are hungry they can stave off hunger, if you can't sleep they can make you tired and if you are sleepy but you need to do something they can keep you up! I love them man, can't help it.
My brother took on smoking but later decided to try the electronic cigars. He actually said electronic ones taste better, are less heavy on his lungs, and are cheaper.
im 15 i always thought i'd never smoke hated it even, my friends alls moke sure but i was never offered a cigarette or bullied cause there nto like that, but last week i thought ah why not i knew i would get addicted if i start i knew it was bad but i like it, i used to have serious anger and depression problems but i havnt felt that for 1 whole week so that akes me feel good and more social to people instead of people backign away form me scared which i do not want.
I want to procrastinate less. Sometimes I need to put off doing homework so that I can relax or be social, but other times I just procrastinate for no real reason. I blocked Frontierville from my facebook, so that's helping, and I haven't been watching random shows on hulu as often. But I still procrastinate way too much, even if it's less than I used to.
I have never smoked, but it bugs me too when people say "smoking is bad for you" like it's news to smokers. Human beings do all sorts of things that are bad for them, but for some reason it is socially acceptable to judge people who do some bad things and not others. It's so stupid. I want to stop being lazy... can you be habitually lazy? Good luck, Matt.
Probably my worst habit is procrastination. I'm really horrible at finding any sort of healthy balance between work/relaxing, so I always leave things late and freak out, etc. etc.
I think the habit I would most like to get rid of is overeating.. I was diagnosed with Addison's Disease this summer, and then a few weeks later I had to have my gallbladder removed (two completely separate health issues) so I spent months with no appetite at all, and then a month or so not being able to eat much at all because of my lack of gallbladder. It's been really hard because now I can eat as much as I want, so I do, and I've gained a lot of weight.
I'm really proud of you Matt. I'm fortunate in that my dad quit smoking cold turkey in 2000, while my mom struggled for a few years to quit. It was watching her struggle with the addiction of it that really instilled in me the idea that smoking was a road I didn't want to go down. She did successfully quit, too. A habit I'd like to drop? Well, I don't really have a habit, but I would like to work on being less self-involved.
Good luck, Matt! I've smoked socially since I was 18, though I'm only 21 now (never more than a pack every 2 months or more), but luckily I was never in a situation that allowed me to become addicted to it. My mom quit about 10 years ago and she went cold turkey. It's tough but you can do it!
I actually cannot think of a habit I need to break. I guess procrastination on work? I don't know if that's a habit but I don't like it. lol.
Good luck quitting! My father started smoking at 14 (b/c that's what kids did in the '70s) & then smoked for 24 years. He rampaged a lot during his quitting process, but he kicked it b/c he wanted to go running again (& live) & it's been 10 yrs now.
I'm also a very habitual creature. I don't smoke (my heart condition is a built in prevention mechanism), but I bite my nails like crazy. I don't even notice it now, so it's a minute to minute struggle on that one when I'm bored.
My entire family smokes, and I don't. I don't smoke for the same reason that you do: when the situation gets awkward around my family or friends who are smoking, I say that I have to go inside because my asthma's acting up.
One time, I was sitting outside of a coffee shop with my cousin, and someone said that smoking was bad. She hugged them and said, "Thank you, I had no idea! They should write that on the box or something!"
I grew up on a tobacco farm, both of my parents smoked, and I swore I never would. My first semester in college, I was 20, I figured I'd see what the big deal is. The first time I inhaled, I had more focus than I had my entire life. I quickly found out if wanted to escape, from people and/or situations, I could just get a smoke. I first developed a lot of my friendships from hanging out smoking.
So, I completely understand. Needless to say I'm here if you want/need help, or to just vent.
Good luck with quitting, Matt!! We would all like to have you around for a long time. :)
I really want to quit biting my nails. I've thought that I had broken the habit a few times in the past, but then I get into a super-stressful situation and start again. Nail polish helps, because it makes my fingers feel different for a few days and acts as a reminder, but if I'm really stressed by the time it gets all chipped off I don't usually take the time to fix it.
also, i'm a cutter. it's nowhere near where it used to be when i was in high school, but everyso often i just can't help it. i've tried counseling 3 seperate times but it just doesn't work for me. any advice? :/
@sabxzilla I'm the worst at giving advice... it's why I'm not using my Psychology degree. But just know that we care about you. There are people out here who, even though we don't know you personally, we want you to be safe and happy because you're part of this community. I've never related to anyone the way I relate to all of you guys, and that's something pretty incredible. We're here for you. <3
@devilishlypure thank you lauren, you taking the time to reply, that means a lot to me. This fandom is one of the most incredible things, and I think getting more involved recently is what's helped me start getting better. It's nice that people like you, or Matt, or anyone who makes these kinds of videos are actually real people who care about your fans - whether it's when I've talked to you at shows or just that you responded to my comment, means a lot and makes my day. so thank you. :)
My habit of putting everyone else before myself is one I've been really to break. In the past I've ended up really putting myself down because I want to make sure that everyone else is happy, therefore compromising my own happiness. Good luck on quitting smoking!
I want to stop stress eating. I had lapband surgery almost two years ago and have since lost 80 pounds, but I still have another 70 to go before I'm at my goal weight, and I'd do much better if I didn't feel the need to have junk when I'm stressed.
feel like having a cigaret. Try making a puzzle, fiddle with something, just pick something and whenever you feel like smoking, use that method.
And I was stupid too, I started smoking when I was 18, after I convinced my grandma to stop smoking because it's bad for her health.. So yeah, we've all got our moments xD
Don't worry, you can do it! Just stop whenever you feel like it's enough, stop when you're motivated, otherwise it's 10 times harder to quit..
I quit smoking about 10 weeks ago. I used to be a chainsmoker, so it wasn't easy, but after I quit I never smoked again. The first few days are the hardest (for me they were). I kept myself motivated by counting the hours I hadn't smoked.. 10 hours without smoking, 24, 48... At some point I was like 'Well, if I take another cigaret now, I'll have to start over again'. I know it's a stupid method, but it did help me xD. The routines are hard to break, but try doing something else when (cont) ....
Good luck, Matt! I completely agree with what you said about routines. It's really cruel, I never smoked at home but I now I do and it's hard to undo. Most of my friends smoke too and smoking connects I guess (not in a pathetic way, I just like smoking in company). I can go a couple of weeks without smoking, when I'm visiting my grandparents for example. So really to me, my smoking habits are largely influenced by the people I'm dealing with and the routines I have with them.
Good luck quitting. If the electronic ciggarette is what I think it is then it works really well. My dad had one for a time and he said it was really good. =D
Hey Matt! So glad to see that you are trying to make your lungs healthier & it sounds like you don't even enjoy smoking anymore and that it is just a bad habit. On behalf of all the people that told you smoking is bad for you, we tell you that to (I guess) "scare" you to stop because we love you and don't want you to have to suffer latter in life like my grandma who can't go or do anything without her oxygen. Continued...
My grandmother smoked until she was 45 and then quit right before I was born. That was 22 years ago and I make sure to call her every year on the day. You are right you just need to get to the point where you want to quit for your own reasons, not for the fact that it is bad for you!
I want to get rid of my habit of hair pulling and twirling, but it might be impossible since my mother tells me I've been doing it since I was a baby. Oh, I guess, overeating and compulsive shopping, too. But, I can usually keep those latter two in control... usually.
@EndlessObscure Awww yeah its a hard habit to quit and there are times (like when I'm stressed) that my nails look really bad.
The only time I've been really good about it is when I've been in friends' weddings. Then I try to keep them nice. Somehow I just need to adopt that mentality to my everyday life, I guess.
I had a friend who started smoking kind of later like you in her twenties. I think it calmed her nerves because college was stressing and now she can't stop. Also she forever wanted to be a doctor and her major changed almost around the same time she started. ANYways, quitting and taking the first step to quitting is awesome! Best of luck!
I'm 13 just saying if you inject the same nicotine in 3 cigarettes into your body in liquid form your going to die,But well hey it's in gas form.

Peppermints, dude! Peppermints. Then again, I smoked menthol so that's probably why peppermints work for me.
Although one of the girls at the salon is doing the electronic cigarette and it's working for her.
