k lol that was a cool vid and nice fish ;) i live in Alaska where were you fishing? prolly sewerd or homer but anyways funny story about shooting fish my uncle was reeling in this huge halibut prolly about 190+ pounds so my other uncle gets out the gun to shoot it buuuuuuut being the lousy shot he was he shot the line and the fish got away....lol anyways good catch i think its funny how people are like Y DID U THROW IT BACK AFTER YOU KILLED IT
Nice job guys..what was that 160-170lb Wasted not time getting that one into the boat..and bet you had the rods back down in about 5 min..after a beer though...great filming...and just love when the camera is all over the place...we have donve the same...thats the best part....I hooked a 145 on a hand (180lbs test) line 3-4 min max he was in the 15 ft boat..wild stuff...cheers
Hey buddy! Read the previous posts and if you watch the video you will see that we put a rope though the fish's mouth... it's called a stringer! It keeps him on a line that you can throw out into the water to keep the fish fresh!
I am not disputing the fact that guns can or should be used. I just want to caution everyone with regards to firing into water. Something that was pounded into my head during basic training. You really can't tell where the dang bullet will travel. NICE CATCH THOUGH!
It was discussed after the fact because he said he normally carries a gun on him but it was forgotten that morning. It wasn't like we were torturing it, we wanted to knock it out so it would bleed out without a fight.
holy fucking shit thats huge!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

they just let it bleed in the water so that it won't get so bloody messy on the boat.

What prevents sharks, etc. from preying on the fish? With all that blood trailing off, you would think that thing would dissappear in minutes..?
datroof18 4 years ago
I dunno about Alaska, but here in socal, the seals will try and steal your catch. Never heard of sharks tearing apart a catch though..
