  • This is the most lovely musical in history! Such nostalgia. :)

  • WHY CAN'T I BE A FUCKING CHIMNEY SWEEP

    WHY

  • This put a smile on my face. Well, Now i'm gonna step in time a little bit.

  • This entire scene is the top reason I want to see the musical of this.

  • @rattlingwalls The musical version of this is AMAZING! Bert walks up the wall on the side of the freak'n stage!

  • An army of chimney sweeps and not a chimney swept!

  • 'It's the master, step in time' love it

  • oww mi stomach lol singing this!

  • i like singing this song but if feelz like tung twister lol so mi mouth hurts lol

  • LOOK OUT ITS THE CHIMMEY RIGADE!!

  • "Ow!"

"Ow! Step in time, step in time. Ow! Step in time, step in time!"

  • i have this on my ipod..... im 16. does that make me lame??? lol

  • @ashleyxrose94 i'm 14 and i have,so no your not lol xD

  • 'They're at it again'

What does that mean? If that's the case I really wish my house had a chimney so it can start happening.

  • When I was little, I was sure that there were still chimney sweeps like this, and that they really danced on the rooftops like this... What a disappointment.

  • I remember being so scared that they were going to fall. XD

  • "It's the Master!" "It's the Master, step in tme" "it's the master, step in time"

  • My friends and I used to play Step in Time. Someone would yell something like "Hop on one foot", and we'd sing the song while doing whatever the person shouted. It was like a theater kids' Simon Says. XD

  • FLAP LIKE A BIRDIE!

  • The choreography in this is just wonderful!

  • If I ever become a nanny, I'm going to be the modern day Mary.

  • Never need a reason, Never need a rhyme.

That about sums up all musical numbers ever.

  • I wonder how long it took to learn that whole dance... O.O

  • This is really funny

  • I love this number and I love that he did almost the same thing in both this and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang but they were also different enough to be notable on their own. :)

  • i love it a lot gabor borz 8/27/2011 Aug Sunday

  • 3:44 = DDR back in the day.

Video games have become a bit safer.

  • i love it a lot gabor

  • This is so awesome, step in time!

This is so awesome, step in time! :D

  • I love how Mary Poppins had to powder her nose... with soot :D Thats Mary Poppins! Practically perfect in every way!!

  • meanwhile, all the people in their houses are looking up at the vibrating ceiling. lol

  • this is the ultimate parkour

  • i love dick van dyke

  • what did the kid say at 8:05? good luck ...?

  • @lucaszd1988 good luck guvner!

    or governor, same words.

  • it's the master step in time , step in time!!!!! bahahahahahaha! xD XD

  • I remember when I watched this when I was little. And being a non native speaker of english, it sounded so different to my ears then. :)

  • I think somebody had one too many cans of Relentless and Monster

  • I'm one of 28 grandchildren, all from between the ages of 21 to 3, so this is basically on replay at Nonna's house and we ALL know ALL the lyrics :) :) :) my childhood was amazing

  • i never actually realised how utterly silly the lyrics are :S

  • @ezzibbes Take a look at the Mary Poppins Musical Lyrics... those try to give a more deep sense to the song

  • @AlexValve what do you mean??

  • @ezzibbes

Never need a reason, never need a rhyme :P

  • @Ghostgirl777 flap like a birdy!! :P

  • @ezzibbes And dancing on a roof is not a bit silly? I love the song.

  • @sdev1989 I never said I didn't love this song, which I do, it's my favourite part of the movie. I just never realised what the lyrics were, because as a child I never paid attention to them. But now as I am older I know what the lyrics are, and if anything it makes me love the song even more. Nothing and I repeat NOTHING is better than a classic disney film starring Dick Van Dyke and Julie Andrews.

  • @ezzibbes Ah well I understand. And I totally agree with you!

  • @ezzibbes that goes for 90% of all songs written

  • danced to this at school :) there was only two of us with brooms and i was one of them! i accidently whacked a boy with it on stage :/ ahwell :D

  • Only Mr Banks seems surprised, you know. Makes me wonder what goes down at my house when I'm at school...

  • "Its the master, step in time, its the master, stepin time, whats all this? whats all this? whats all this?"

    ROFL

  • 13 people can't step in time.

    How happy was my childhodd.

  • This was alway my favorite scene, in the movie and in the musical.

  • 3:45 - 3:49 DDR!!

  • i prefer watching this on video, but this is ok

  • I love how Mary holds out her hand saying, "Nope!" at 3:31 hahah

  • Isn't this dance a bit life-threatening?

  • Now a days when you want a chimney sweep to sing in dance it cost extra.

  • that rooftop setting couldve been awesome for the adam west batman serious fight scenes ...sadly the series was tooo campy

  • Parkour!

  • I love how Mrs. Banks is like "not at the moment... oh well, why give up a good opportunity?!" ("Sister Suffragette" plays.)

  • It´s the master!

It´s the master, step in time

It´s the master, step in time LOL

  • Does Random Dancing come in the Job Description of Chimney sweep? if so.. sign me up!

  • 0:11 is where to start

  • 0:10 is where to start

  • best part "well hit sir very well hit" not too concerned until last minute that the fireworks coming back at them

  • Parkour, cockney style!! ^_^

  • @wolvesveil 13 people ended up like that one guy on 1000 ways to die (or at least died somehow doing this great feat of nature) and realized that heaven has wifi

  • @SnappyPenguin566 ...What did that have to do with my comment? o.0

  • @wolvesveil a guy once died while playing parkour

  • @SnappyPenguin566 I'm sure many have?...o_0

  • 13 people fell off the rooftop.

  • the bit on the railings is my fave part..their like,"uh oh im gonna fall, have to balance," then BAM! dancin the cancan!(well something like the cancan!) love it <3

  • 1:17 I always thought that he actually went off the roof lol

  • Which reminds me, how they do that famous spin on Broadway anyhow.

  • old school jumpstyle :3

  • Chimney sweeps are the original free runners....

  • Dick Van Dyke is the dancing king!

  • Thank you, Alex Valve, for making this wonderful classic available. I saw this as a kid (about 40 years ago), and was really impressed with the talents of Julie Andrews and Dick Van Dyke and his crew of chimney sweeps. Love it!!!

  • I just got served.

  • 3:36 - 4:06 I call that Chim Chim Revolution lol! First DDR!

I love this song and Bert! Wish I could dance on my rooftop like them!

  • "Never need a reason/ Never need rhyme/ Votes for women."

    'Nuff said.

  • The fireworks are so unrealistic... did they even have fireworks in 1901? Still a brilliant movie :)

  • @katyrandomlol The Chinese invented fireworks hundreds of years before that. Britain had been in sustained contact with Chine for decades before 1910, so it's not unreasonable at all to suppose that they would have had fireworks.

  • I had no idea Victorian chimney sweeps were so happy, energetic, and lung disease-free.

  • Mary Poppins just gives them a nod. "That's how it's done."

  • I wonder how much weight they lost doing that :?

  • 3:20 scary lokks like the exorcist

  • you know for someone who never had dance lessons untill he was thirty, Dick is one hell of a dancer.

  • Dick's blue eyes really come out in this movie. the are beautiful

  • I can't stop smiling~

  • They must have practiced ALOT!

  • @kxk56 dick said they practiced six weeks

  • best part of the movie besides sister suffragette.

  • ok this has confused me..are burt and mary poppins together?

  • @iloveyou123123412345 Originally they were supposed to be a couple. But shortly before filming, they changed it. I think it was because Julie Andrews was uncomfortable with the idea of Burt and Mary being a couple.

  • " WE'RE BEING ATTACKED BY HOTTENTOTS!"

    "Aye aye sir."

  • woo most awesome musical movie :D i love this

  • Does someone at 2:39 say "bloody hell, Bert"? 'Cos if so that's AWESOME.

  • @JackDawsonUK "Lucky ol Bert"

  • @JackDawsonUK i think they do :P :P

  • 13 people cant step in time

  • You got to love those cockney ninjas ^_^

  • 12 people need to shake a chimney sweep's hand

  • west clafick

  • Ok for all of those who don't know what COKE is and i don't meant the white stuff but black stuff! it's like coal but has already been heated to extrude all the gass!

  • of course they avin fun matey, tis all the "coke" ther're sniffin! and anuva fin, why does Dick sound like an Ausy? g-day Mary Poppins! lol

  • is it just me, or does that look like bloody good fun?

  • Lolz why do americans always think we're cockney or posh?

  • @OllyOliveGirl01 its purly for the reason of this time perioed other wise i find it sterotypical

  • @selnabeanacheese i relised once i post this on i was like 'oh shiz, thats how most of us used speak like back in those days' :L Sorry :)

  • @OllyOliveGirl01 no need to be sorry you havent done anything wrong i post things sometimes and then im like ohh crap :P

  • I wish I could dance like them.

    xD

  • WE'RE BEING ATTACKED BY HOTTENTOTS!

  • I love how no one in the house notices/cares about the stomping of 40+ men on their roofs xD

  • @Arnumdrusk It's Britain. They probably gave a collective "harumph" and went back to tea and crumpets.

  • This was my FAVORITE scene.

  • Cockney chimney sweepers invented parkour!

  • @aragorn1780 I smell potential for a new feature in the next Assassin's Creed- dropping down chimneys.

  • i remember trying to do that spinny thing mary poppins did when I was younger... ahh memories <3

  • doing this song for musical theater, the move at 0:16 - 0:21 is waaay harder than it looks to do in time with the song

  • Man i really wanna watch this

    LOVE THIS MOVIE! :D

  • Best scene ever. =w=

  • "AH! THEY'RE AT IT AGAIN!" - so dancing and singing chimmney sweeps jump down the Banks familiy's chimmney for a rave on a regular occurence then? Wow...lucky them XP

  • The fireworks seemed more realistic when i was younger ;)

  • thumbs up if you want a sequal to marry poppins

  • I thought it was "Steppin' Time" :c

  • But we’re not ripping off “West Side Story” at ALL here, are we? No.

  • The original best best dance crew.

  • her face was kinda scary when she was spinning at 3:19

  • I wish Disney would make movies like this instead of the CRAP they make now.

  • this was always my favorite part as a kid and it still is! apparently 12 people did not have a childhood :/

  • i miss this in disney

  • The "p face" or ":P" was created when the little kid told his dad "Good luck Governor."

  • This is was my all time favourite film when i was just 6 years old, i used 2 play it all the time on my video, this one is my favourite song. I lov the bit from 3.42 - 4.05 =) xx
