I can tell Jimi wasn't really feeling it when they played this. Playing the same old hits can get annoying especially when Jimi had 16 other songs that were just as good if not better than this song if not better off his band's first album plus this is around the time after their last album so I know he had plenty of material to work with!

Jimi was getting frustrated with how things were going..he was touring like crazy and playing the same songs over and over again..he was frustrated that people were overlooking his songwriting and songs he considered really good by wanting the usual ones like fire, purple haze etc etc..which is why u see that towards the tail end of his short career and life he stopped being as flashy..its alos why he broke up the experience and started the band of gypsys instead, to try some new things

The sound wasn't right, for his taste the entire night, although it sounds great to me. At the end of the concert he put the guitar away and seemed relieved to walk off the stage even though the crowd wanted more.

I agree with unrealistic. I dont think he's "out of it" because of drugs but because he was overworked. If you count up all the shows he did between 67-70 it comes out to 500+ shows u cant expect the guy to consistently turn in solid performances. Besides hes clearly annoyed wth the technical problems he was having. When he switches to the Gibson SG he ends up doing killer renditions of Red House and Sunshine of your Love.

I think the main reason he seems "out of it" is because of the fact that he was overworked. Michael Jeffrey constantly overbooked Hendrix, so he would literally finish playing and be on his way to the next show. He was also forced to play the same songs over and over again. That coupled with technical problems (tuning/faulty amps, etc.) did not make for good times, specially in his later concerts.

It's hurts to see my favorite guitar player of all time so frustrated, but he still rocks!

@guitar19904 I read a Buddy Miles interview where he spoke of Hendrix being very against "trippy" drugs. Of course (giving the time of the century, and things like this) he most likely gave them a spin here or there but it was rarely that he was "dropping out " previous to performing. Miles stated something along the lines of his drugs being the music itself, and that Jimi disliked an idea that external substances would be required to enhance or to assist something as human and real as music.
