i dont know, lang lang vs volodos, i love both. but for my personal taste..i like lang lang just a little bit better because he has a stronger personality ( or wt ppl call showing off :-P)
from 1:10, I've never heard anyone play it that perfect, not even Horowitz himself, AND the trill at 1:46 has such a ring to it, this dude is Great!!!! And even at 1:56 it sounds like 2 pianos.....this piece was meant to sound like "dueling pianos"

Horowitz? With all respect to him, I now realize that Richter was a better pianist and now if anything, Volodos is a new Richter to me, not Horowitz, but then again, when I listen to him, it's like something I haven't heard before, he's Volodos, not Horowitz or Richter.
sorry, can't help you, read the message again maybe, then your initial one, then DonFrankos', perhaps, I don't know, think or smth, but I can't do much more for you.
Are you crazy???!! nobody could be horowitz, he was not the greatest pianist in th story but the greatest musician.. volodos is technically better than horowitz but he will never be like horowitz at all.. and than I think richter was a very good pianist but he is not for a moment like horowitz or volodos.. in conclusion I have to say that nobody could deny the enormous influence on volodos by the great horowitz.

haha nice question! in my opinion, Volodos is the real virtuoso, because he can not only do nearly impossible things, he can also play cristal clear and with a tremendous amount of passion. he combines a perfect technique with tons of creativity and a talent for producing colors. Lang Lang in my opinion sticks just to the 'virtuosity' the technical part. because I do believe LL is an incredible technician, though in my opinion he quit often misses the point in a composition. nice question!
@principecalaf Funny question, you have Volodos the great virtuoso and Lang Lang the showman. Anyway you look at it Volodo is so much better, technique and everything else.
Don't like me. Hamelin plays this piece one million of time better of Volodos. This transcription is rubbish.

i think the best interpreter of hungarian rhapsody n°2 is Cziffra.

about the cadenza of this piece, I prefer or suggest Marc Andre Hamelin's version is the best; or better in my taste.

I always thought this was two pianos. How the hell does he do that with just 10 fingers?

Volodos plays well but he should be himself instead of trying to be Horowitz.

What does your opinion about Richter have to do with this?

I agree 100% they are fucking crazy. The only pianist who was better than Horowitz was Franz Liszt himself.

did you hear him play?
foxyjohnuk 2 years ago 3
There's no good pianost that wants to be like some other pianist.
You want to say that better pianist is the one you like, and bad is one that you dont like. That's really stupid.
All of them have great and unreachable technic, you just need to enjoy those who you like.
