  • What type of pen was that that you were using???

  • Your handwriting is very nice.

  • what fountain pen is this

  • Did you use special fountain pen or how you write these thick parts of letters with fountain pen?

  • I'm trying to use a pen like that. I'm new to the whole penmanship thing. I can't see to avoid scratching the crap out of the paper I write on. Also, the ink smudges if I press too hard. Does my ink have too much water in it? I need some tips.

  • What fountain-pen was that? I have a Parker Urban Fountain pen and the line is so ridiculously fat. I want a fine point one really bad.

    Thanks.

  • LOL. I read 'expressive' as 'expensive'. Can't blame me. :P

  • isn't that a nib pen? oh dang... if that's a fountain then wow is it great o-o

  • would anyone suggest a good fountain pen that doesn't brake the bank?

  • @pacman80500 I love the Shaeffer 100 FP, good quality for 30 dollars. They dont have much flex(for line variation). Another one that is a bit more would be a parker 51. If you really dont want to break the bank, Pilot varsity can turn into ink drops. The Lamy Safari is also a cheaper (under 20 USD) fountain pen and also its pronounced like Lamb with a long E(LOM-ee)

  • what about needle point? Also disposable fountain pens are the best of both worlds

  • the difference is enormous.

  • What model is the fountain pen that you write with in this video?

  • @MrDidou17 It looks like a flex pen and the grip looks a bit like Visconti. It may be a Visconti with a flex nib or a Mont Blanc, i dont think its Parker or Pelikan so i will go with Visconti or Mont Blanc with a flex nib.

  • This is tricky though. Average writing fountain pens have rigid nibs that don't allow to switch from thin to thick writing.

  • Your handwriting is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO GREAT!! I WANT TO LEARN!

  • where did u get ur fountion pen

  • This is a bit misleading, fountain pens don't do that, it is the flexible nib fountain pens that give you line variation with pressure. There are also italic nib and many others. However, most of the common fountain pens are rigid and the lines it write is like a ballpoint. The difference is the smooth feeling when writing with a fountain pen compared to a bp.

  • Leighpod, are you using a vintage flex nib fountain pen? It looks amazing and I'm just wondering what kind it is! I'd love to see more videos of that pen, it's amazing looking!

  • @ohshizzzzzzzzzzzzzzz It is a vintage flex becuase it is a eversharp nib, eversharp are not commonly flexible, the safest bet for a vintage flex is a waterman or a mabie todd. Cheers

  • This person put HOURS into developing his writing. I did calligraphy as my summer project. I tried copperplate but I couldn't get it. This is similar, though less formal. Still super hard.

  • @subtleserveyor Like copperplate but less formal... that is roundhand, the basic when starting to use a flex nib. It is cursive with all the downstrokes thickened, while copperplate requires a lot more specifics in the form of the letter, the shape of the thick strokes and the angle of the slant etc. Cheers.

  • @LLAW019 I didn't say it wasn't easier, and you've got to admit they look at least similar. Like I said, it was a frosh project, what do I know?

  • I really love this song, can you pm me the song?

  • I have Paker Frontier Gt fountain pen.. how to make thick and think lines???

  • What type of nib was that? Great video, love the handwriting with the fountain pen!

  • awesome handwriting!:)

  • I want a fountain pen now.

  • problem is in my area no good ink is available i wanna purchase calligraphy inc ..but not available here :-(

  • WAHT A HANDWRITING !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Two words. Mikami's pen.

  • hey bro what kind of fountain pen are you using. and what about the nib is it fine or extra fine

  • me like

  • ...Check out the fountain pen hospital dot com. lots of cool specials

  • ha.. not bad..not bad

  • The fountain pen writing is beautiful!

  • me like it

  • and mainly the fountain pen he/she has. I have a lamy safari and is no necessary more.

  • I'm gonna get one of those fountain pens for Christmas, so I can use it at school. I'll take out my new fountain pen and show it to my friends, and suggest they get one too to improve the reliability and consistent writing quality. Since my handwriting is considered exceptionally neat within my class, i'll be the most popular student in no time, impressing all the teachers. Mission Accomplished.

  • @ninjalanyards already tried that and I hate to disappoint but it has no effect on teachers. With your friends they will probably think you are crazy to buy a pen that is over $10 but there is always the fact that writing with a fountain pen just feels awesome.

  • Rich people.

  • @ricks1204 not really there are plenty of good quality pens that most people could probably afford. Lamy Safari is a good work horse pen and at a price of $25 its actually really good. It isn't flexible such as the one in the vid so getting a really thick line isn't easy unless you get a bold nib. but fountain pens aren't neccesarily expensive.

  • don't write on the wall!

  • fountain pens rock!

  • What is this song xD

  • I think I'm going to buy a Waterman Expert this weekend.. .lol

  • where can buy those flexible fountain pens

  • The SandMan Come...

  • I wanna write that way!!

  • can you write an alphabet out for us please????!!! I want to write like that!!

  • OMG!! I wish I wrote like that. Beautiful.

  • Your handwriting looks better than all of the fonts on MS Office.

  • @Ryan0Ebbers Well the fonts on MS Office were done first by a human being before it got super famous and became a font on MS Office......ahaa, just kidding. I have no idea if thats true. x]

  • ما شاء الله على خطك! اللهم لا حسد:)

  • @anonymous294 The persons using a flexible nib. Some pressure has to be applied to split the nib, but it only works with obvious variation on nibs said to be flexible. If you look at the writing, the width of that varies also.

  • your writing is unbelievable! do u have an alphabet chart of your writing??

  • what ink??

  • Very nice brother.....Very nice!

  • wish I could write like that, this has to be a woman writing

  • Mutant !!!! Mutant !!!!!!! The power of Christ compels you !

  • IDK i think the pen is part of better hand writing. when i was in school i had terrible hand writig because i used a cheap 25 cent pig pen. Then latter i started using a supper glider pen which made my writing look slopy but less friction for sure and the letters were bold.

Later i used a $3 uniball pen which made my hand writing actually look better because it started to glob for a second.

After that i used a disposable pilot fountain pen. which my hand writing got much better.

  • @charkee167

You can refill those disposable pilot fountain pens. ;)

  • Montblanc

  • You mother fuckin calligrapher

  • Not every fountain pen has flexible nibs, some fountain pens have stiff nibs and the lines it writes are similar to that of a ballpoint.

  • Back in Jr.High School English (1961-63), we had to bring fountain pens to class. Ballpoints were not acceptable. But, I preferred them, especially my refillable Shaeffer with interchangeable nibs. When i was a kid, i used to make quill pens and draw "treasure maps.".

It seems that dignitaries and government officials still prefer fountain pens.

  • I'm pretty sure elegant writing comes with a fountain pen. If you didn't get it in the package, it means a fountain pen is not for you. Yet.

  • It is possible to produce awful handwriting with a fountain pen. Producing the kind of lettering you saw in this video takes the desire to learn, patience, and practice.

  • @CanItAlready Yeah, that's why I added yet. It's not like there's a tool that will make you instantly better at anything and everything. But yeah, it does come with a fountain pen in some sort of way, because it lets you write like that.

  • @AntiTPG

If you mean specifically the line variation created by a flexible nib, then yes, a fountain or dip pen with a flexible nib (or maybe a brush) is the only way to achieve that. But it is possible to produce gorgeous writing with just about any pen. Palmer style cursive has been taught with ballpoints and pencils for decades. My sister's handwriting is lovely. Mine, not so much, unless I'm making a conscious effort, whether it's ballpoint, flexi FP or whatever. :)

  • @CanItAlready Yeah. Except with a flexible nib, you can make more elaborate details like serifs by lightly brushing the tip or thicker, bolder letters by applying more pressure. IDK, though, since I've yet to find a flexible nib in my country. Even the one store I've found selling fountain pens has a limited stock.

  • @AntiTPG

    True.

As for finding flexible nibs, if you want true flex, you might have better luck if you buy vintage. If you're fine with semi-flex, there are only a few manufacturers making modern pens with flex. I haven't tried them, but I've read that the Namiki Falcon is semi-flexible (John Mottishaw can make them more flexible), Richard Binder modifies modern Pelikan nibs to make them flex,

  • and Nathan Tardiff has been producing some Noodler's pens with semi-flexible nibs. I know there are some others, but I'm drawing a blank right now.

  • Disclaimer: I haven't tried the Falcon, Noodler's or modified Pelikans, but there are reviews on youtube and fountainpennetwork.

  • writing like that ins't too dificult, but compare the price... a good ballpen costs maybe 30$, then you get a good one. but a good fountainpen with a flexible nib will cost you way over 500$...

  • @ZXOH

Untrue. I have an old Esterbrook J with a 9128 (flexible) nib that, together, cost me about $50.

I have an old Waterman eyedropper with a flexible nib that cost me $70.

Noodler's Inks' Nathan Tardiff is making pens with semi-flex nibs that cost less than $20.

  • Elegant penmanship, reminds me of my pre-highschool days, before i became mechanized with the keyboard....sigh**

  • hi at 0:45 is that a fine nib ?

  • What song is it?

  • Is that a caligraphy pen?:

  • wat nib type was tht

  • i have a pilot v pen.it cant do that.

  • I like using pen with fine point. Would extra fine nib for fountain pen be just as good as fine point ballpen? I want fine tip in a pen so it won't blot when I write.

  • Nice pen...

  • you have the penmanship of a god

  • Can u teach how to write with fountain pens for beginners? :D

  • can you put a link of where to get that pen?

  • i have a feeling that after people watch this video, they wished they had kept up with their cursive.

  • u look like u just wrote the declaration of independence with that fancy handwriting 0_0

  • Your writing is sooooo cool!!!!

  • what is this song called i love it

  • PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Your writing is like on microsoft word, just better, and again...mutant

  • Loops my mistake... I misspelled pencil seriously...

  • @ dreamingWisdom lol yeah... With the mechanical penici

  • im glad you labeled it, i couldnt tell which one was the thick line

  • How the hell do you write like that, mutant.

  • @Zeith101 this is the power of fountain pens... crappy writing never looked so good (the person who made the video however clearly devoted part of his life to improving hand writing)

  • @solittleusernames It comes easier with a fountain pen. Good writing. It forces you to hold the pen in a certain way.

Could be I also learned how to write with a fountain pen at school, which reminds me of writing lessons that it came back to me the way it did.

Where I grew up(NL) they also learned kids to write with a dip pen as a standard(in NL). This is just about 25 years ago, so I don't know if this is stil standard, but I think it should be.

  • @Zeith101 I think he (She) press his nib with a namiky pen

  • lol. I like how you have a different handwriting for the fountain pens. But indeed, fountain pens are great.

On a side note: I notice my mechanical pencil makes that thin/thick transition when the lead has been sanded at an angle..

  • I love how fast you write from 0:42 till 0:46! Does anyone know of a decent book, dvd, whatever that teaches this style of writing?

  • i have disgusting handwriting :'(

i want to write that nice, too

  • @tuintu Just learn how to print...it's nice AND neat. Or just practice writing cursive, I always hated cursive until I figured I need to learn it in order to write in Spencerian Script.

  • niceeee

  • very nice, finally.

  • I love fontain pans ^^ and I have the same question as @marcuskim76.. how did you learn to write like that?

  • @MelodyPaz

It takes practicce to write like that. penmanship is one of my many hobbys. To improve your handwriting do these steps

    STEP 1

find a hanwriting style that you want. like a form of cursive

    STEP 2

PRACTICE forming the letters first then connect them and jott down lots of sentences useing all the letters in caps and non caps

    Step 3

after you have gotten to where you can write all of it at a good pace then replace your normal handwriting with this and use it all the time

  • @MelodyPaz: Practise, practise, and more practise. And a good fountain pen with a flexible nib - or a calligraphy pen - will get you the varying width of the lines in the letters.

  • @MelodyPaz its script or something, it takes a shit load of skill and a steady hand... and it almost like art

  • @MelodyPaz seems studying italics and Cyrillic forms ect should simulate that elegance with enough creative diversity yet honestly the elegance itself seems to hinder speed and readability sometimes =o

  • how do you learn to write like that

  • great writing skills

  • cool video...

  • beautiful comparison...but the song was terrifying lol

  • @TonyDent84

The choice of the sound track is usually kept to the uploader's will.

I guess you'd have picked a more sophisticated tune, wouldn't you?

(such as the song of the barking dogs) LOL-LOL

  • The fountain pen is a vintage Eversharp Skyline. The nib is known as a teardrop nib, it's marked Eversharp 14k and is a fine. :)

  • @leighpod DAMN you and your brilliant handwriting! i would kill for that!

  • @carloldelpizzo

Such kind of nib makes much of a difference in your handwriting.

  • @leighpod how much is it? does it have an official page?

  • @twiluvable It's an old fountain pen from the 40's. I'm trying to find one myself. They can be quite expensive, up to $130. Fountain pen's are more of an acquired taste.

  • @leighpod hey did you put pressure on the nib while doing that drawing of a woman with the fountain pen?

  • I enjoyed the video. Can you tell me what type of fountain pen is shown in the video, along with the type and size of the nib? Thank you.
