What a joke this site has become. Google, the corporate pigs, are now mass infusing stupid sh*t like this to get the real microwave water experiment video lost on the mass of garbage. They even look like they were made stupid on purpose. The free medium is failing. Important videos are getting their ratings lowered by google, and comments disappear or won't show, etc.... it's all a scam
@NagatoYukiDesu Whatever my comment referred to the title of the video. Maybe I'm full of shit, I'm just seeing all these videos now with the title "microwave water" just to get views. whatever, you wouldn't understand.
I had the same thing with coffee. I boiled a cup of coffee and put sugar there. Putting sugar caused the same effect as shown in video. I was lucky not to holding the cup in my hands otherwise I'd burnt my arm
actually it doesnt bubble up because glass is smooth and when u heat it up on the stove, bubbles come up because the pot is not smooth but have microscopic bumps and so it has so much energy stored up inside cuz no bubbles appeared and a slight mishandle could cauze an explosion but thats only if u put in the microwave for like 15 minutes, make sure thats its in glass but dont try it at home
any other water has too many "dirt" particles not to boil.
But I still believe microwaving anything is dangerous. Damn you can get incurable burns from jam inside donuts or whatever. And you don't actually need over 100 C degree water to cause injuries
Tap water superheats, But it doesn't explode like that, I just need to try distilled and a perfectly new glass... and a new microwave cause mine sucks.
distealed water, if you use that kind of water and boil it, it will get to boiling temperature but will never actually boil so when you stick something inside it blows up like that, so NEVER USE DISTEALED WATER WHEN MAKING COFFE OR HOT CHOCOLATE UNLESS YOU WANT TO HURT YOU OR SOMEONE ELSE!!!
I have a distiller... the water goes up through a helix and then collects into a polycarbonate jug, at slightly higher than room temperature. I sometimes drink it directly out of the jug. It's perfectly safe, not to mention it gets all of the snot out of tap water.
The process is called nucleation and besides causing nasty burns to those unsuspecting victems in search of the nice cup of Earl Grey, it can make a huge mess if you drop a Mentos into someone's cola.
The smooth surface does not allow anywhere for the seed bubbles to form. Adding a powder or stirring with a spoon introduces air. That's basically the reason it happens. Nothing to do with impurities. If you use warm water and let it sit for a while (so any air bubbles in the water escape) and then use a smooth vessel as well, you can recreate this experiment easily!
i was making coffee in the microwave, as usual, all milk, in for a min, take it out add the coffee and sugar, put it in for a min (i got a 700w microwave) and job done. but if i put it in for 2 mins, and take it out, and stirr it will suddenly boil up like this (not as violent but still burns the sh*t out of me), can anyone tell me why?
when you boiling water it a great way to get out impurities (especially since most of the impurities have a lower boiling point than the water itself). Doing this causes the water to become capacitor-like after so long. When the water has no impurities to boil off what happens it that the microwave just cause the water to spin more and more and more to the point where it actually enough energy to exceed its boiling point...without boiling.
As soon as you add some impurity to the water you are unleashing all of that "spinning power" the water molecules have and instead of the water steadily boiling it will almost instaneously go into a mode of instaneous vaporization (since it's beyond its normal boiling point) and explode all of the place.
its called a flash boil. when you boil water the molecules build up kinetic energy (motion), but in a microwave the water isnt moving and energy is stored as potential energy, so when you put something in it like a spoon all the energy is released at once and boils over and shit.

yes. i have built several small distillation "units". i usually always distill my water. i hate tapwater

be careful with drinking distiled water. to much can lead to water poisoning, distiled water has no minerals and salts that your body needs

gameshowfreak2007 4 years ago
Because your glass/water is not clean enough.
Even small scratches prevents your water from supper heating.
Try using distilled water. Not Tap water (containing minerals)
