Wow failed at magic as did all rpgs. Magic should be like illusions. Fire balls would be use of black powder and rather than turning invisable you would throw a flash bomb and hide or run. In games it could be over exagerated but still in games that don't have a decent explanation to magic it should be realistic. Back then in the medieval time Pen and Teller could be the most powerful sorcerors.
