They were all unsinkable to their standards. The titanic was built with so much thought, that it was unsinkable. It was designed to always float, but one of the two ways that it couldn't float happened.
The Olympic is the only one of their ships that didn't sink. After Titanic sunk, White Star made design changes in the other ships to make them safer. The changes should have prevented Britianica from sinking as the water tight doors would have enclosed the area that was hit by the bomb. As you stated in the video, when White Star Line merged with another company, the Olympic was scrapped. It also has been specualted that they switched the identies of Olympic and Titanic in a big insurance sc
Wow, you're a Youtube badass who can't think of anything intelligent to say, so you resort to calling things gay. Also, lern2grammar plz. Punctuation is your friend.
@ccmattyfilms Don't know if anybody replied to you yet, but White Star technically went out of business a long time ago. There were absorbed by Cunard in the early or mid 30s.
Actually White star is working inside Cunard. Because if you think of it the main reason the white star ships sank is because of an explosion. and titanic was because of the bulkheads. where as cunard ships sank alot quicker then white star ships so now that white star is working with cunard their ships are stronger
NOMADIC TEAMS UP WITH HARLAND & WOLFF AGAIN... 100 YEARS ON
The 100 year link between the SS Nomadic and Harland & Wolff has been rekindled. The shipyard made famous for building the Titanic has just been awarded a £2m contract to carry out restoration work on the Nomadic’s superstructure and steelwork almost 100 years after constructing her. Work started on the project on 31st January and is scheduled to be completed by the end of July.
@SBernardoni1991 Well now a days a champagen bottle is smacks against the hull; to wish the ship luck on the high seas much like a blessing, not sure if thats what they did back then
The difference between Cunard and White Star Line is that Cunard christened their ships and White Star Line didn't. Well you see what happened to those ships of theirs.... And an easy thing to know wich one is Cunard and wich one is White Star is that Cunard's ships' names mostly end with "ania" (Mauretania,Lusitania etc.) and White Star with "ic" (Titanic, Brittanic, Gigantic, Majestic etc.)
@yubdailee Well, all ships must sink someday, btw Lusitania was hit by a u-boat. and compared to white star, cunard had a lot less ships that sank, and it didn't went bankrupt...
@Tottiboy190 This is not true, absolutely not. Each and every White Star Ship was christened, just like Cunard's ships... Where did you get this information?
@revrunnertech2772 *sigh* you got to be kidding me,ARE ALL OF U ASSHOLES IN THIS PLACE???ONLY 2 OF THE 3 SANK!!!!!YOU HAVE A BIG PROBLEM WITH YOUR HEAD CAUSE YOUR BRAINS ARE UP YOUR ASS INSTEAD OF YOUR HEAD!!!
@swantonbomb450 Gigantic was the original name for the brittanic. After the Titanic sank White star line thought it would be best to rename the Gigantic with a name that was not focused on it's size.
@dawnstrends They changed the name cause they felt they would anger the gods further by naming it Gigantic. They were suppose to be named after the Olympians, the Titans, and the Giants of Greek mythology. That and some bad press led to the name change.
isnt it weird that only one of the 3 three most famous ships white star liners produced made it to the scrap yard and fullfilled their duties... I dont know about you but after that I wouldnt go on any ship made by white star liners
@Tv5Contestant2 how many assholes are there in this place!? ONLY 2 OF THE 3 SANK!!!! GETTING SCRAPPED MEANS THEY TOOK THE PARTS OF THE SHIP TO BUILD SOMETHING ELSE!!!!!!!!
@Theflipnerd Hi, yes HMHS Britannic is pretty much the same in condition now; that picture was taken in 1981 (if i am correct) and because the britannic is only in 400ft deep water, it hasn't deteriorated too much since the photo was taken, the hole is slightly bigger that is all that has changed
they have indeed made ships bigger and better but there have NEVER been any the same as these three sisters! and none have ever been as luxurious as these!
The only way to tell Olympic and Titanic apart is that Titanic had her forward promenade deck enclosed whilst Olympic was open. White Star had four very sucessful ships prior to the big three .. they were Baltic, Cedric, Adriatic and Celtic
I wish that they had built a new Titanic quite similar to the original but without the 3 classes, but with only 1 class so that other ships are today but if they build a similar vessel as it becomes the world's history no longer
The Titanic disaster warranted a retro-fitting of the Olympic, which included modifications to the watertight bulkheads, her double hull, and the addition of more lifeboats. Additionally, the disaster played a pivotal role in the design of the R.M.S. Britannic.
Re the R.M.S. Titanic, Bruce Ismay played a key role in her sinking and for the massive loss of life. The plans originally called for 64 lifeboats. However, Bruce Ismay was concerned that the boats would consume too much deck space, so he pushed for the reduction. Inasmuch, the Board of Trade only required her to carry a minimum of 16 lifeboats. Yet, that guideline was based on ships weighing over 10,000 tons with the largest liner at the time being the Cunarder Lucania weighing in at (con't)
only 13,000 tons. So, with the Titanic carrying 16 wooden boats and 4 collapsibles, the Board's requirement had, not only been met, but surpassed, according to Ismay. Furthermore, he pushed for Captain Smith to travel full steam ahead through iceberg infested waters all behind impressing the public with an early arrival. .... J Bruce Ismay. what a insolent jackass not worthy of life. He should have been a man and went down with his ship!
Regarding the R.M.S. Britannic, the mine theory surrounding her sinking is not correct. Her sinking can be attributed to an internal explosion, possibly set-off by a German saboteur. The internal explosion theory is more realistic and supported by the fact that her hull plates are blown outward.
I know another Ken Marshall picture of the Britannic, there she looks much better, the front is nearly complete on this. She might be broken quite fast.
the titanic sank due to the bulkheads not goin all the way to the top so once one compartment had filled to the top it spilled over into the next and so on
Those two ships are actually nearly identical sister ships (Olympic and Titanic.) It's hard to tell which is which in that particular picture though (I'm assuming Olympic is the greyer looking ship though.)
@FoxtrotMouse I think that the ship on the left is the Titanic, because if you look at the side of the ship, on the decks in the white, there is a wall going down the side. That was a feature which I have read was not on the Olympic, but was on the Titanic. This means that the ship on the left must be the Titanic, and the ship on the right must be the Olympic.
I love that last pic so much. did you do that w/ fotoshop or did you find it? i'd really love to save that pic to my computer, so i'd really appreciate perhaps a key word to look it up by, because i can't find it on the internet.
ok time to let a real expert over these ships tell you what really happened. olympic was scaped after 35 yrs cause she rammed and sank a Nantucket Lightship killing 4 aboard. NOONE KNOWS what really happened to britannic. it was a mine or torpedo has never been confirmed, as for titanic, well we all know about her.
Gee, I shure would have loved to see a picture like the last one in real life happening.. The three sisterships sailing beside each other^^.. What a sight,.3 beaut's
Ugh. The white star line merged with cunard and still exists. They Are restoring a white star ship now. Its called the normidac. Also Brittanic was a hospital ship and sank in WWI!!
The Germans didn't care if she was carrying arms or not. They were insane nazis. Especially the submarine crews they had standing orders not to save the crewmen of vessels they sank. Most times they surfaced and shot them in the water. The Britannic was full of women and babies. And that is not a mine hole it's a torpedo exit blast.
Nazi's were the Second World War, the Britianic sank during the First world War.. No Nazi's. The Olympic was built before both other ships and was dismanteled in 1935.. refer to Walter Lyods book "A Night To Remember"...
2.) IT'S A FUCKING MINE THAT HIT THE BRITANNIC... Don't belive me? look it up on wikipedia!. And try to inform yourself BEFORE you talk bad about a nation., because whatyou said, sounds like all germans were and still are nazis....which, you are totally wrong at, if I may add!
Tip: Don't quote Wikipedia as a source. It can quite often be wrong. Not saying you are wrong but Wikipedia is not a 'quotable' source that is credible.

ok time to let a real expert over these ships tell you what really happened. olympic was scaped after 35 yrs cause she rammed and sank a Nantucket Lightship killing 4 aboard. NOONE KNOWS what really happened to britannic. it was a mine or torpedo has never been confirmed, as for titanic, well we all know about her.

No Nazi's. The Olympic was built before both other ships and was dismanteled in 1935.. refer to Walter Lyods book "A Night To Remember"...

get your facts right: 1.) Nazis were WWII
2.) IT'S A FUCKING MINE THAT HIT THE BRITANNIC... Don't belive me? look it up on wikipedia!. And try to inform yourself BEFORE you talk bad about a nation., because whatyou said, sounds like all germans were and still are nazis....which, you are totally wrong at, if I may add!

Tip: Don't quote Wikipedia as a source. It can quite often be wrong. Not saying you are wrong but Wikipedia is not a 'quotable' source that is credible.

That was a mine off the coast of the island of Kea that destroyed the Britannic.
P.S. The Nazi Party wasn't formed until 1922
