in my opinion from running mac xp vista and linux. mac is the superior OS. Running vista smoothly requires an uber powerhouse of a pc and it is plagued with bugs and glitches. Win XP was nice but after constant running it experienced major slowdown. linux looked very nice but lacked software support. Mac on the other hand is beautiful stable and extremely user friendly. To me this windows 7 looks like vista with more mac innovations made to it.
W7 looks like vista with more MAC inovations made to it...i wish i could tell you how disappointing OSX is in comparison to W7 ...even in its unifinished beta stages.
try it out you might open your eyes to how average and "same old" osx is too.
Will current and older games run on windows 7? Will Vista games such as crysis, bioshock, company of heroes work? Will games like starcraft, and Age of Empires II work?
running that on a vm is realy not tht good... it takes away the "good look" and some funtionality... full blown running it is the way to go...jus back up your data incase the install goes wrong. and install.. it shouldnt't take that long.
What people do not realize even though it's a VM, it's still a functional OS. The only things you will not be able to do is high end gaming or get the pretty Aero. Any thing else is game!
I've also got my Windows 7 build 7000 up and running on my Virtualbox, but I'm having problems with it. It's not auto-detecting devices such as the ethernet NIC (drivers needed I guess), not letting me turn on network discovery, etc.
How's build 7000 running for ya Shakil314? It give you any trouble?
In VirtualBox, go to Network, and for one of the adapters, make sure that the adapter type matches your NIC and attached to NAT. It is possible that not all cards can be detected automatically.

i installed this version of windows 7 in virtualbox but could not get the guest additions working (ubuntu host).
i used vista compatability mode, but the vm would simply not boot after installation of guest additions.
any thoughts?

I haven't tried any games so far but I can give you a good guess that if it works on Vista, it will work on Windows 7, perhaps even better.

no startup sound??I didn't hear anything.

There is startup sound, I assure you. Unfortunately, I had my sound setting disabled in VirtualBox at the time.
