Whoa! They were soooo close. Must'a bin important for pilot to go around. Perhaps he needed more time to harvest his carrots on Smurfs on his Ipod or something (just kidding). I reckon I'd be pleased to have such a willing and conscientious cap'n piloting the plane.
See, this is just evil for people like me that are terrified of flying - you think you're almost down and then the pilot decides to take you round again! lol Seriously though, I know that it was the pilots call and its for safety etc, but holy crap, i would be crying lol. Wish I could get over this phobia though, so my holidays wouldn't start and end with terror and valium! lol
@YagoRj357 So far among all A380 operators, Emirates, along with the European airlines (LH and AF) are the safest. The airlines seeming to have problems with A380s are QF and SQ.
I work at Gatwick and saw an Emirates 777 do a 'go around' couple of years ago. I was about 120ft from it and it got within 15 ft of the threshold of the runway before pulling the nose up.
What made this particularly interesting was that it looked as though the gear had actually touched down for a moment just before they power up again. So often go-arounds are at higher altitude, this really was a rejected landing, must have been great to see it for real!
@bananamanuk yes i know it did, you see i put when i first got this video 'touch- and go' as the title and then changed it because alot of people were complaining how this is a go-around not a touch and go but yeh it was amazing to see haha! i have never witnessed anything like it!
@bananamanuk@AlexSupraBieber I would guess they rejected the landing pretty much because there was debries on the runway after the plane landing there just a minute before this... tower didnt see it but guess the pilots or one of the pilots spotted it in time,to reject the landing and performed a safe go around/touch and go :) :)
Great video. There is also a super PIA 747 go around clip on here with ATC. I flew out from Manchester on the A380 the day before, see my take off video from the inside.
That plane is surprisingly quiet. I've lived under the Manchester Airport flight path all my life, and I generally miss the airbus' landind (typically between 12pm and 1pm) because it's so gentle. There are planes four times smaller that are ten tiems louder!
But you can't ignore the sound when it's taking off again. Those engines have gotta be really powerful. Nice shot, btw - I blab on a bit. :)
@spiritbaltofan yes it is very quiet and also on take off it is quiet! and yes there are and they are pretty powerful but the Airbus A380 is designed to be more eco friendly thats why the engine arent as loud and dont use terrible amounts of fuel., and thanks :)
I was on the plane returning from Dubai when it happened. A gust of wind had caught the plane when performing the flare and had pushed the plane to one side on touch down (I was watching the on board camera when it happened). Was indeed unexpected but a surprise to go around (although the wind was very strong on approach). Nice to hear the engines for one last time again.
@rachaelmatt thanks and same with me i wasnt going to video and i thought i actually i will then it de focused i was like NO!! and then it just went perfect for the go-around i was so happy haha!!
Great video. Wind sheer? Thank you for sharing.

@timothyngim umm.. Let's hope it don't crash, because it will be the worst crash ever..Maybe losing for that one in Tenerife with KLM and Pan Am.

Any ideas why the landing was rejected? Looks like there was nothing wrong.
