WOW.....what a song! It took me back to a time where songs like this permeated the airwaves-Curtis Mayfield (Choice of Colors, We're A Winner), Marvin Gaye (What's Goin' On, Inner City Blues), Stevie Wonder (Living for the City), Earth Wind & Fire (Head To the Sky, Shining Star),Gil Scott-Heron, Donnie Hathaway, Nikki Giovanni's poems....music with messages to promote strength, purpose, culture & our uniqueness. I miss that. Fertile Ground captured those voices & said "listen again"! Wonderful!!
I fell in love with this band and this voice after I heard this beautiful song! And it happened accidentally... A few years ago, a bartender played it nearly the entire night at my request. :)))
Great song, listening all the way from south africa. But sometimes I wonder whether the message in songs like this and blackstar's "atronomy" (eighth light) will ever make an impact on our people translate into anything tangible. this kinda of music is always slept on
@Mopedioadicomputer Greetings South Africa! I often wonder the exact same thing. This band celebrates our beauty in a way unheard of in popular American music, or white culture in general. The best we can do is put our money where our mouths are, because whatever is making money will continue to dominate the charts and possibly the consciousness many people. There's a natural mystic blowing through the air, RIP Bob, I have hope that someday we'll wake from our sleeping slumber.
