I know that crossing, the corner of Allen and Northline Rds. The track runs right across the intersection at a 45 degree angle making an interesting signal and traffic light arrangement, my mother used to work right down the street and remembers getting stuck by those gates when they would malfunction.
That crossing used to have no gates, just flashing red lights in the eighties. And I remember seeing Conrail trains on that track. But before Conrail it was Penn Central I think.
Yes I believe it was Penn Central, and I do remember when there where no gates, however this was before the Conrail split, IIRC and the intermodlas and through trains didn't run as the connection at Carleton wasn't restructured until late 98'
Thanks for the info. As a kid I lived just close enough to hear the whistles at that crossing and the one at Reeck Rd. There wasn't as much train traffic on that track as there was on the DT&I and N&W which I could also hear. Then it went to almost no trains for a time. It picked up again as you said around '98.

CSX Intermodal/Stack trains are a very common sight on the Lincoln 2nd. I mostly seem them at night coming back from Oak St. in Wyandotte.
