  • It is mentioned above asowari bol. I have one video of Krishnakirtan from isckon. But when I asked my mridanga teacher, and also mu classical master in Navadwip, they were confused, What is asowari bol? Asowari is a rag. Rag asawari. It seems that there is nothing called a asowari bol. Maybe a confused concept? Please explain???

  • Krishnakirtan comes from bangladesh not nawadvip. Therefore the names he introduces are somewhat rear and confusing. His mridanga lessons and the mridanga itself are a stranger in bengal. I could not tell what is correct.

The equivalent of his asowari bol is daspahira tal (8 beat), as introduced by bablu, navadvip.

  • I apologize for any mistakes....fell free to correct any mistakes!

  • Your videos are very nice .

Keep posting more mrdanga videos .

  • harebol!

  • aren't you missing a khi in the begging?

  • Dont' think so.... it is khi khi khi

  • exactly, what is written on the video is different than what you're playing and saying. Also it should have one more nake dhena

  • 1. YOU'RE RIGHT. MY FRIEND POSTED WRONG MANTRA on beginning and i took it from him (wrongly)

    so it goes:

khikhi nake dhene nake dhene nake dhene jha gredhene ta A tetete ta

To play 3 KHI's is my own addition. KK does not play them. Also the way i play gredhene is different from original.

This VHD video is really worth looking at. You do not see ryhtms like this any more. It's a good old school.

  • cool is this mantra from Bablu prabhu?

  • the mantra is from Krishna Kirtan Das, Bangaladesh kirtanwalla.

    Original notation goes as follows:

KhiKhi Nake Dhene Nake Dhene Jha Gredhene Jha (A) Tete Tete Ta

  • I ask myself why there are no videos from Krishna Kirtan Das and his mrdanga player Nityananda Pran .

It seems they were very famous in the 80´s and 90´s , they were touring worldwide and made several recordings .

I hope to see something of them in the future .

  • there are Krishna kirtanas videos on the net, but good luck trying to learn from them

  • Actually I have one video from Krishna Kirtan and his mrdanga player ; in fact I was really reffering to youtube , because in youtube you can´t find anything from them .

So either no one films them or else they are not performing anymore ....

  • so why don't you upload your video

  • I don´t have a computer myself and moreover it is in VHS format , so it would have to be converted with special software ...

  • Yes, this VHS video track is source of my mantra presented here.

This video is a pure gold; i lost if unfortunately. The video contains rare mantras for 4-beat rythms and what is even better - a good hatutis (introductory beats).

If you have any chance - convert and upload the video - you will get many many grateful thanks.

    Best regards.

  • Ok , if one day I have the possibilty I can try to upload it .

Meanwhile , you could take a look at krishnatube dot c.o.m , where you will find 4 clips of Krishna Kirtan and Nityananda Pran explaining many tals and asowari bols .

    Kind regards .

  • Please people- we are starting, testing, cutting and editing recordings. Everything will be posted.

    Sri Radhe

  • this is fast! haribol, please show some basic mantra :)
