  • If you need a draw:

    1.

With the Queen on a6 after the Bishop sac' on a6, and the Knight move to c8: Queen check on b5, you say in the video "you have nothing". You have missed, If the Knight blocks the check on b6 you take it! Queen takes the Knight check, King to a8 and now......Bishop takes on c7, threatning check on a6 and winning the rook on d8. Black can resign now

    2.

Queen to b5 Check, King to a8 draw repeat

  • Trompowsky attack is 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bg5.

This is the pseudo-Trompowsky or Levitsky attack.

    Nice game though.

  • Very nice game! Thank you

  • Isn't the Trompowsky after Nf6 and not d5?

  • Nice game. Very interesting.

  • 4:07-4:09 I have had mate very similar to that I called it crosshairs because the bishop really locks it down and puts the bullseye right on the kings brain.

  • at 3:20 Black DOESN'T have Nb6, because White would just play Qxb6+, the c-pawn is pinned

  • Nice :P

  • Can u please tell me the computer program that u use to find u better moves after the game.I believe the program will improve my game signifacally and change my point of view in seing awesome chess moves. So please tell me the name of the program.

  • that was coll you did you not do the computre

  • Thanks for sharing, I love watching your chess analysis. Keep them videos coming!

  • 1. d4 d5 2. Bg5 isn't the Trompowsky attack its the Levitsky attack. If 1. d4 Nf6 2. Bg5 is the Trompowsky attack

  • +1. Still just as effective, though.

  • Thanks for putting this on; It's well commented and I have learned a few things.

    Marc

  • at 4:29 i think Bxc6 Qxc6 Qxc6 bxc6 is a good move busting open his queenside but the computer variation is genius

  • Or you could have played knight f6, might have been better than Queen side knight to c6.

  • OK but after the trompowsky attack, if a was black I would of played h6 then the bishop would have to move somewhere.

  • The problem with h6 is that the bishop retreats to h4. This weakens blacks kingside pawn structure and if g5 then blacks bishop goes to the h2-b8 diagonal like in the London System which is fine for white. Infact this almost forces black to castle queenside because of his weakened kingside.

  • i love your videos jeffrey, keep them up!

  • great video, the computer move was great!

  • classy work. Thanks for putting it up!

  • great video!!!! keep them comming please!!

  • really good analysis & commentary. come to my house. want some tea? we chat chess! i learn from high-rate player! im only rated like 600-700. teach me jeff michaels!

  • Lol that been said, I've just noticed that Jeffreys wrote a positive review about an earlier DVD in the same Polger collection, so he's probably disagree with me there.

  • I agree with Duston - Jeffreys is very good at explaining games and various reasons for not making / making moves. I wish he'd do more and put them up.

I recently bought a Susan Polger DVD and it was an absolute waste of time - she zips through the games, not explaining anything, so aside from the mating combinations I learnt absolutely nothing from it that I can apply to any of my games. These are much better and free!

  • famous quote ??

  • ur 1 of my fav. chess lecturers. i guess that's how u spell it

  • i dont know anyone who plays, iv played my little toy computer for years. thanks for posting. lee

  • very good video...don t stop post new games!

  • Its a shame jeffery is not rated a little higher because his commentry is very good and easy to understand.

I have sat through lectures with Kasperov and the like where I had not got a clue what they were going on about.

  • what software is this? and how can u get ranked my school doesnt have a chess club so i cant play often =(

  • Not bad for a man of thy calibre!! chess is not easy .

  • I know a guy named Burry whose 2200, amazing. He's a nerd though. I'm just a 1300.

  • I agree with macnolds. Honestly, it looks like you guys were sparring, not playing like 1700s. You put your queen's bishop and queen in bad positions by locking them out of your pawn formation. You also sacrificed your center with that knight-bishop exchange. But nice improvising to force mate at the end!

  • nice game, that line the computer saw leading to mate was a bit special indeed.

  • good lecture, but black played poorly here.

  • nice :)
