I dont see europe as US' colony really. Ok certain countries are influenced by US but not the whole of europe. Russia's economy isn't doing great either, and they got negative birth rate, how much worse can it get for Russia? US attacked afganistan and iraq as those are the strategic places in the area.

FACTS:
1. THE USSR Withdrew and disbanded their troops from East Germany, Checoslovakia, Poland, Hungary and Cancelled the Warsaw Pact.
2. THE USA did not disolved NATO, for the contrary they expanded the affiliation to NATO to EX-Socialist contries mentioned above, occupied and reinforce their military presence in the Reunified Germany.

I remember a bunch of years back War Memorial was admitting it was a war not a conflict. Does that mean the War in Afghanistan is just a conflict since you are helping the Afghan Military? Very confusing , I thought bombs dropping and fighting was war. My Army calls it a war and so does the news.

The memorial changed the title conflict to war because the Veterans thought of it as a costly war and after all the years they endured it being called a conflict they were finally given the titles of War Heroes. Just wish I could remember the details better been so long... Anyways you are right too but the vets did not like that too much right?

@CapnCrossbones Well, after the fall of the Twin Towers, Bush declared a "War on terror" so yes, basically we are at war with the extremists, not so much Afghanistan. As for Vietnam, I think it was more of a success anyway. Our goal was to stop the spread of communism, and that's what we accomplished. Same with the Korean war.

Money is not everything. If you watch the third video, there is a good comment that America may spend 10 times more than that of Russia on military, but for all they have spent, there are unable to win the war in Afghanistan which has no GNP, and also if they were to pull out of Iraq, the same violence would come back, as before.
And yet Russia who spends less money on military is the only country in the world that can wipe out the USA.

To be fair, the reason that we cannot win in the Middle East, is because we are fighting a people who keep attacking no matter how we kill. For every insurgent killed, it is used as propaganda to recruit more insurgents. And we are not fighting an organized government, so it is not like we can just capture strategic positions and win the war. We are fighting a loosely banded, few and far between terrorists who can kill more civilians then they do soldiers.
