  • going by the title of this song, it seems like there is gonna be some mythalogical influence after all. I can't wait to hear the epic this album is supposed to have.....so excited!

  • 3 people arent alive

  • This album better redeem Symphony X from the shit that is Paradise Lost. So far this album isn't looking like it is the much needed redemption for the band but maybe there is a Divine Wings lurking under the songs that we've heard.

  • Why is Russell Singing like that? He has an awesome voice....But he is singing horribly.

  • @Dopefish1990 Your mom.

  • @Dimerah Indeed.

  • @Dopefish1990 i have to totally agree with you there......don't know what he was thinkiing in those parts

  • everyone smells of piss in corp lol

  • I think this is an awesome song!! catchy as hell, cant wait for mre songs!!! :D SX forever! <3

  • What a boring crowd!

  • Can't tell what I think of Promethous yet with the bootleg recording and all. Will have to wait for the album on that one I think. And by the way... for the guy who thinks I don't know that I'm talking about.... I have over 20 years experience playing guitar, writting, recording, even singing, etc... so yeah, I think I can say that I DO know what the fuck I'm talking about, thank you very much...

  • @TheFinalthorn Taste is taste, you can´t motivate your opinion is more worth just because your a musician yourself.... I agree that musicians tend to understand better what is going on in complicated music such as SX, but we don´t have the franchise on what other people should think just because of that.....

  • AND... by the way, (on a positive note), I think this is the best SOUNDING Symphony X record to date as far as the production... Romeo's guitar sounds absolutely huge, full, big and better than ever, like the Odyssey only on steroids... if that's even possible. His tone of Paradise Lost was OK, but I thought it was a bit of a step down from the Odyssey. Yeah, it was a LOUDER record, but that doesn't mean it sounded as full. But is seems like they really nailed the production with Iconoclast.

  • BTW, I actually quite like The End Of Enocence. Like the verse part to Dehumanized too, (can dig me some groove), however the chorus doesn't do a lot for me. & I agree with whoever was talking about the lyrics lacking creativity as in previous albums. Don't get me wrong, I can dig some heavy shit, thrashy guitars here and there, (ie, V The New Mythology), but I just really hope they don't lose the OTHER elments that made them Symphony X, mysteriousness, etc, and it seems like maybe they are...

  • ...and Aerosmith, AC/DC, Pink Floyd, (old school), Grateful Dead, etc, etc. Blues based rock has been DONE... and it is SO boring! Why is taking notes OUT of the scale exciting to people? That's what pentatonic scales are, scales with notes taken out. To me that has always been infinitely less interesting, and I don't understand the apeal. Use all the notes for crying out loud. That's why I can't listen to Dream Theater anymore... they sound like the f**king Beatles meets Pink Floyd on steroids.

  • And Paridise Lost, while a good album in many ways, was a bit TOO heavy for me, at least as far as the thrashy parts, etc. I didn't fall in love with Symphony X because they were a groove oriented thrash band, I fell in love with them because they were etherial/mysterious. & even if the Neo-Classical thing HAS been done to death, it still hasn't been as done to death as the whole blues based, pentatonic groove rock thing, that goes back to the 60's and 70's, (Zepplin, etc), for crying out loud!

  • Ummm... V didn't have hardly any neo-classical stuff on it. The very begining was operetic, and there are a FEW small classical type parts here and there on that album, but for the most part it was just really etherial/mysterious...and of course heavy, and rocked. Was much more creative to me. Their real "neo-classical" periods were the albums before V, especially Diving Wings Of Tragedy. Even the Odyssey, as heavy as it was, still had a lot of moody, etherial and mysterious elements to it.

  • It bothers me that people seem to have such an immense problem with the groovy, thrashy direction Michael's taken with his riff-writing. It may not feel deep enough for you, but the music should fit the theme. And so far, Dehumanized and End of Innocence have more sinister feels to them than some other SX songs. Just wait for the rest of the album, guys. Those songs will have different themes, which will entail different feels. Just keep the faith.

I'm still waiting to hear Pinella more, though

  • I miss V The New Mythology... most of the new stuff I've heard is all pentatonic, blues based stuff... BORRING! It's been done...

  • @TheFinalthorn oh yeah I really like that : Progressive Heavy Fucking Metal :)

  • @TheFinalthorn Agreed, V is my favourite album... The odyssey is really nice aswell. Not saying the new stuff is bad, just not as fun and innovative.

  • @TheFinalthorn So has the Neo-Classical stuff...time and time again...

  • you either have no idea what your talking about or u havent heard enough of the latest material@TheFinalthorn

  • @PSYTONAL Well, I have no idea what the fuck you're talking about, I've heard all the latest material and stated my case. God forbid... someone has a different opinion than you... OH NO!

  • I like this track the most so far, deadly

  • I do agree that the classical elements are gone, it is what makes Symphony X stand out and unique. Albums like V, now its just a normal prog metal band but still a good one at that.

  • Not really, they've added some groove elements and shifted the focus to a more guitar-oriented, thrash sound on PL and the two newest singles, but the neoclassical element has been an ever present element on every album so far. Look at PL, it went from the groovy Serpent's Kiss (which still had an orchestral interlude) to the unquestionably neoclassical Revelation. With each release, they distance themselves further from that "Malmsteen in D standard" sound, while remaining true to their roots.

  • the intro solo is saying "warning.. this track is so fucking hard for any guitar player...stay away"

  • fucking drums \,,/

  • Prometheus, End of Innocence, and Dehumanized all reveal this album to have even more potential than Paradise Lost. Paradise Lost is my favorite Symphony X album, and I am truly glad to see that this may turn out to be better :)

  • Trying to spot myself, i think i was just off to the left of the shot!!

.....and what's everybody moaning about, the new stuff is sounding excellent and it's not even out yet!!

  • While the music is pretty good, the lyrics are somewhat uninspired and lack creativity. I don't feel that either the music or lyrics is on par with their previous material. I understand that a band should be true to it's fans, but don't release something unless you've given it your all and put true time and creativity into it.

I am and always will be a Symphony X fan.

  • Nothing special, indeed.

  • @RudessSolo

yes, in my opinion, nothing like "The Divine Wings of Tragedy" or "The Odyssey"

  • @KlangbaumHerz All the neo-classical elements and emotion seem to be missing - even the themes seems lack-lustre - stop fucking shouting Russell and sing - all this 'prog' shite is soulless - the past three albums have got progressively (pardon the pun) worse - get back to that which we all love - all this talk of 'moving on' suggests there was something wrong with the past - you wouldn't say this of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach, Handel or Haydn would you

  • @gabrieltit I think youll find that Beethoven Mozart Handel Bach and Haydn were all very much progressive in their times and flaunted that fact. Take Haydn's letters proclaiming his String Quartets op 55 as "new music". If a band doesn't progress it might as well stop because it will have become irrelevant. While I value the older SymphonyX albums I think taking it in a new direction is no bad thing. The impressive thing about V or Divine Wings is that theyre so fresh. I don't want that tainted.

  • @Symbioticism progressive is not a term that was used in music back then.

  • @BOOLsheet It really was, by al sorts of writers from Tieck to Chabrier. They talk about the advancement of the art and the progression of style. It is an old idea that people commonly misuse. It does not mean esoteric rock music. It means music that develops something new and so progresses the art as a whole.

  • @Symbioticism source please

  • @BOOLsheet kk, Schiller's On Naïve and Sentimental Poetry, Collections of Debussy Letters, Wagner's Music of the Future, Beethoven's Conversation Book, Carl Dahlhaus' Nineteenth Century Music, Die Neue Zeitschrift für Musik, Rosen's The Classical Style, ETA Hoffmann's 1813 review of Beethoven's Symphony No. 5. Enough sources?

  • @Symbioticism dude, of COURSE those composers/writers wrote about progression in music. that was a salient feature of the romantic era and the following ones. im talking about the later baroque composers you mentioned and the classical ones. only beethoven could have been understood through that view of all the guys you initially mentioned. my point in all of this was that the late baroque guys saw themselves as just doing a job, or delivering a service. the same could even be said for haydn

  • @BOOLsheet Key misunderstanding: if you look above you will see The Classical Style which not only deals with Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven but also talks about the beginnings of the sonata which includes talk of Bach. You are right that there was a jobbing element but there was also a want for progression. With Bach its mixed up with the Reformation. However you can go further back to renaissance theorists, there is always a want for progression in technique and style no matter what period.

  • @IronGuitarist no, why do you ask?

  • @MiloshRistanovich Save your opinion until you've heard the whole thing.

  • IT sounds good, but I hope the rest of the album wont have these repetitive choruses

  • it is sad but true, Symphony X is my favorite band, but to be honest I just listened to paradise for a couple of months and never again, I don't have any of that album's songs on my mp3 player, symphony X actually changed since paradise lost, I'm glad that they're doing better now, and becoming more famous, but it's sad at the same time, because I think I won't listen to a song with the musical quality and style as the odyssey or the divine wings of tragedy, again :S

  • I'm just afraid that this album is just a fading breath of the old symphony x's spirit... hate to say it, but I'm kinda bored, which is not the case with the previous albums, to be precise, albums that are previous to paradise lost... Just being honest, and I don't want any of you bitching on me: "DUDE SYMPHONY X IS THE BEST..." blah, blah, listen to them for a very long period, and then be true to yourself - they're running out of ideas! they're fucking legends, everything else is business

  • @MiloshRistanovich Have you heard the album yet?

  • I hope I'm mistaking, but I think I won't like this album..

  • Mmmh... The intro is VERY SIMILAR to Meshuggah's Obsidian...

  • tanks my friend with this video quality now i can cover it ;)

i hadcovered "end of innocence"and dehumanized" know i have to work this one!

i was waiting a lot for this moment!!!

  • lol two people died when they heard this

  • 0:56 sounds like the riff past the first chorus of "In The Name Of God" by Dream Theater

  • Tremendo tema!

  • shut up kid

  • Its east to see the DT influence on their new songs, and thats not a bad thing, but i kind of dont like that theyve practically eliminated their neoclassic aspects of their music, althouh i also strongly like their new modern, heavier side. It didnt do too well in their last album imo but this new stuff looks promising.

  • @SASPython I love DT also. But nothing about MJR's approach to the guitar is similar to JP's, which is what makes them such great individual musicians. And musically so far the latest album is sounding just like SX have always sounded, they just have a more modern approach in some areas. You're opinion seems like you are relatively new to this side of music. I could be wrong, but that's my guess.

  • @dan2212089 i have been listening to SX, DT and prog for a while, and yes MJR and JP are totally different. Maybey i was trying to compare them wrong. Its just that if you think back to TDWOT, it was very neoclassical, and if u listen to PL or this, all those classical influences have faded, and Petrucci being a modern guitarist, and my favourite, i kinda heard a resemblence. Maybe its not influence maybe thats just the modern prog sound.

  • Brilliant - thanks Mike.

  • PUTA QUE PARIU CADE ESSE ALBUM QUE NÃO SAI!!!

  • @berfometh exatamente, cadêee!!?

  • Listen to this video at 4:01 and the song Orion - The Hunter (Twilight in Olympus) at 3:30...

It looks like they copied the song...

  • @melkisedeck Actually, if you listen to all of their albums from Symphony X and onwards, you can hear elements and entire parts of certain songs mixed into some of their other songs. This might bother some people, but personally, I think it's brilliant.

  • @MelihaP Yeah, I agree with you! To put some parts of old song on new songs, and still create some awesome songs are incredible, but I've only noticed this Symphony X "thing" on this video =O (and, yeah, I'm an old symphony x fan, but maybe a little distracted)

I'm waiting for then in Brazil! If I go to a SX show here, I'll make sure my friends and I will make a hell of a party to then!!!

    SYMPHONY X for the WINNING!

  • @melkisedeck Hehehe, well, distraction does come with age;p I celebrated my 10th year as a fan this year by going to two shows in the UK:) I wish you a hell of a party and a good time when you see them, man!:)

  • What is the problem with the people in this show? Why they're not head banging???

  • @melkisedeck The crowd was unfortunately a bit boring over there. The crowd in London was much better. But the show was still spectacular!

  • So... heavy... ilike it

  • this is shaping up to the the best release from Symphony X...and i've only heard 3 low quality songs!!!

  • Symphony X has a vibe and element that if any metal fan, sometimes not even a metal fan, can just listen to one song by them, just one time, and enjoy it. They have a really heavy, yet melodic and catchy drift that anyone can just love. And yet they also have so much variety to their music that if you listen to all their songs 10 times each, you STILL couldn't pick the one you like most. I'M ALIVE \m/

  • Easily the best of the three new songs on here. I can see what they meant about the old school metal vibe here.

  • DAMN, SYMPHONY X RULES ALL!!!

Thanks for the upload man, this song is fucking great, gonna catch these guys on road on New York, Montreal and São Paulo, wanna see new stuff live :)

  • nice :)
