@BlueEyesDudeDragon3 Season 3 Episode 20. Londo is lying to Vir and the trap is actually for Lord Refa; Londo knows Refa would kidnap Vir and scan his mind with a telepath.
I like Babylon 5 a lot. But I never got over how much Londo sounded like Count Dracula. Every time he opened his mouth I thought of Dracula, every time. "I vant to suck your blood."
@highlandwolf01 Actually, he wasn't quite power mad and blind at that point. This was a setup for G'Kar to kill Reefa. To be honest, what gripped Londo at that moment wasn't a hunger for power, but hunger for plain revenge.
Ahhhhh ... .the set up of poor Vir by Londo ...planting an idea in his head to be later found out by Lord Reefer ...er, I mean Lord Refa! The revenge against Lord Refa .... sadly Londo was mistaken (which he found out much later was actually Mr. Morden's action) in that Refa was not the one who killed his love, the dancer Adira Tyree. One of the many twists and turns of the "Babylon 5" Universe
To reply to PaxShodani, the struggle between Londo and the Draak, reaches it's conclusion in the trilogy of novels by Peter David. It covers the Rise and Fall of Centauri prime, and the prophecy of Lady Morella is fufilled... I'd get into it more, but I'd probably ruin it for everyone who hasn't read (or is planning on getting the novels, sorry if I did ruin it for some of you out there)
Lorien, I've read the first of that trilogy and it is absolutely stunning! Peter David is a great writer, I love his work in the Star Trek Universe too, Q-squared and all that. He captures the moods and personality of our gorgeous Emperor perfectly! (and no Londo didn't pay me to say that)
There's so much more I could say, but I don't want to spoil it either.
I have been a Trekie for more than 20 years, and I say this series had better effects, plot lines, charaters, and more diverse non-huminoid aliens than any series, EVER!!! Although the infulence of Star Trek of Babylon 5 is obivous, Babylon 5 got away from the "ideal future", and portrayed a much more real future for mankind. I also think the casting for this series was incrediable, without exception, even Zathras! I LOVE BABYLON 5!
@lordshadow69 Yes, this was one of those underrated and under-appreciated sci fi gems. But at times I found the dialog a bit pasty and even bombastic.
@lordshadow69 i actually feel the same way. trek tends to waste much of its cast's talents and its huge funding with bad writing, but babylon 5 made the best out of its limited budget and influence and has made me cry and laugh and angry and sad and reflect more times than Star Trek or other scifi ever could.
G'Kar and Londo were the highlights of the most meaningful show I have ever seen.
With Andreas Katsulas gone, I would miss Londo and G'kars strained relationship but I would love to see what happened to the inevitable psiwar and if Londo ever got his ass out of that terrible clinch with the Drak(stranger things have happen to this lot)
true. Londo lured lord refa nto this trap by letting him catch Vir and have him scanned by his telepaths. Refa wanting to catch G'Kar himself is caught and then killed G'Kar and his followers as revenge for the bombing of Narn.
Cartagia was killed by Vir after G'Kar was imprisoned by the Centauri.
@Xanxtuary do you refer to the alleged stabbing of the Emperor Cartagia by Vir? It seems almost like it was accidental in a way. Cartagia had turned about and he seems to have almost walked right into the poisoned instrument held by Vir. The actual incident is rather vague but Vir surely was greatly distressed by it ... his guilt at doing such a thing was great. Nonetheless, an interesting moment when Cartagia smacked Londo and the poison instrument went flying, only to be picked up by VIr!
Certainly not that you could see it at the time, but he used G'kar to bait Refa back to Narn, and get rid of Refa.
I LOVE the scene from "And A Rock Cried Out" it's possibly one of the creepiest scenes in the series but so worth the wait and reminds us that narrative and not special effects rule the day.
What episode is this? I can't belive Vir would one day become friends with Londo

This show is a lot less enjoyable in the episodes that don't feature Londo or G'Kar.

I don't think this is Londo at his best...this is at his worst.
His BEST is when he deals with the Shadows and Morden when the Vorlon planet killer is on the way

Out of all the characters in this show, Vir deserves a hug the most.

Just what sort of hairspray do the Centauri use? No matter what, it never gets messed.

It's scenes like this that made B5 one of the greatest series ever.

Zathras is cute, in an annoying kind of way, did you know pet cats have been named after him? (not in my household btw)
Agree, we love B5!

@lordshadow69 Characters, maybe. But not effects. It was rather low-budget. And there were some low-key characters in Babylon 5.

Bear in mind (SPOILER ALERT) that Londo did this to trap the mad Emperor Cartagia into a situation where Londo could assassinate him.
Progressive75 4 years ago
Wasn't it Lord Refa that Londo was aiming for, not Cartagia. Londo v Cartagia comes later, if I remember right.
anyone else got good recall?

What a plot twist! Vir turning out to be capable of murder, despite his naivety (which Londo refers to a lot! LOL)
Some hard lessons learned there for both Vir and Londo, but that's what makes great storylines and memorable characters.
