I feel like until you post a video showing that you have drumming skill that even slightly approaches Travis Barker's, that you really can't be talking shit about him. He's a damn good drummer, 'nuff said.
For all Travis Barker haters: 1. You turned on your pc or laptop. 2. You opened internet exp, safari, mozilla etc 3. You typed in youtube. 4. You searched for travis barker dum solo 5. You Watched it. 6. And yet you still had time to commented on the video about how much you hate him. You know what Travis Barker is doing right now?, probably practicing in some studio trying yo be a better drummer and you are sitting in ur couch getting fater. BTW Travis doesn't give a F**K about these comments!
He could do it so much better ... Travis Barker has some awesome Snare Drum Skills and what is he doing? Playing some funking easy beats and one and the same fill in.
So all you people can copy him. Congrats. None of you will ever be as good. He has a creative mind that will always surpass all of yours and mine. He keeps time like a boss, is always keeping the beats fresh, entertaining and awsome. It is alright to be jealous. He is prob the best punk rock drummer. For his style, awsome and unsurpassed. Each person has their own style and his is awsome. Espicially in the neighborhood album, that's sweet shit.
I'm not denying that he's an incredible drummer, because he is. He's just not anywhere near the best. His solos are cool at first but I think his creativeness and technique are a little limited, making them boring and repetitive. I also find that the style he plays is limiting his abilities. I think he would improve greatly as a drummer if he learned to play jazz. I'm not trying to say it's better, but if he wants to get really good, and I mean REALLY good, he should look into it.
@Acorparation im pretty sure he learnt Jazz and fusion as a young'n but he said, as a drummer, that punk and hip-hip appeal to him the most. Theres an interview where he says he wants to "retire playing jazz"

Travis isn't a John Bonham, Kieth Moon or anything like that.. but you gotta think about how many teens nowadays aren't into their era of bands that much. Many haven't ever heard a Moby Dick performance or somethin as crazy as Won't Get Fooled again. People are more into stuff by Blink 182, Linkin Park, Green Day, etc. Now Travis is awesome and as you can imagine with the band he plays with, he easily gets attention. He's really good, just not a 'legend' compared to some of the original greats.

I did the exact song for my music solo assessment but not as fast and without backing track, i didnt know what this was until i decided to look up blinkumentary drum solo :D
@szkcs The seat belts are to keep him from flying away from moving his hands so fast. Haha just messing, he is on a rotating drum riser. I don't know if he still does it, but when I saw them many years ago, he would rotate upside down out over the front of the stage.
I don't understand you people criticizing Travis... If you got Neil Peart to try and play Feeling This, Not Now, Violence, Ghost on the Dancefloor and many other songs by blink, he would suck shit at them. No one can say that Travis sucks, cause thats not true. He is steady, atleast from what I have seen and he can perform in front of alot of people without fucking up. He is just extremely overrated thats all... He is a very good showman and that is probably why he is so popular. However, everything he does is pretty standard stuff and every drummer or other musician for that sake know this

@MRNOODLEMENThe its not that he sucks its just hes not the greatest drummer ever i can name plenty of better drummers and the qualities that make them good, joey jordison(fast can go on for a while doing fast double badd and not getting tired) chris adler(fast bass with fast beats good endurance) buddy rich(do i even need to say...) the rev(amazing beats and he wrote most of a7x's songs and came up with the guitar riffs for most songs)
@dannppp i swear the rev didnt come up with hardly any a7x songs? and they had to force him to write one and he wrote a little piece of heaven - hence why theres no other a7x song in a style even similar to that on any of their other albums
@dannppp Speed and endurance are good tools for a drummer, but they in no way make a drummer great or even good. Its the artistic worth of the composition that matters. And although I agree with you that The Rev is a great drummer, a person's ability to compose non-drum music has absolutely no impact on their worth as a drummer. Going by that logic, Billy Corgan (an un-remarkable drummer) would be considered a great drummer because he wrote all the songs and riffs for Smashing Pumpkins.

I can honestly say Travis Barker is not the best. Everyone thinks he does "drum solo's", but he really doesn't. He plays beats. Yes they are very good, but come on, they are not real drum solo's. Drum solo's are just going full out crazy without a song backing it up. And let's be realistic on this one, he is also not the best drummer either. I can name 5 drummers right now. He is very good, but not the best. And this is coming from a drummer, so I have room to speak.

@szkcs The seat belts are to keep him from flying away from moving his hands so fast. Haha just messing, he is on a rotating drum riser. I don't know if he still does it, but when I saw them many years ago, he would rotate upside down out over the front of the stage.

I don't understand you people criticizing Travis... If you got Neil Peart to try and play Feeling This, Not Now, Violence, Ghost on the Dancefloor and many other songs by blink, he would suck shit at them. Just because Travis took the hip hop and punk path doesn't mean he's worse than the great drummers, because he is one of them. Just because he doesn't play double bass pedal or trippy jazz doesn't mean he's not one of the greatest drummers to ever live. anyone with a brain knows he is.

No, Travis Barker sucks. This was hardly a drum solo. Look up Jojo Mayer and Ronald Bruner Jr.. They both put Barker to shame, as do most drummers.

No one can say that Travis sucks, cause thats not true. He is steady, atleast from what I have seen and he can perform in front of alot of people without fucking up. He is just extremely overrated thats all... He is a very good showman and that is probably why he is so popular. However, everything he does is pretty standard stuff and every drummer or other musician for that sake know this

@dannppp i swear the rev didnt come up with hardly any a7x songs? and they had to force him to write one and he wrote a little piece of heaven - hence why theres no other a7x song in a style even similar to that on any of their other albums

@dannppp Speed and endurance are good tools for a drummer, but they in no way make a drummer great or even good. Its the artistic worth of the composition that matters. And although I agree with you that The Rev is a great drummer, a person's ability to compose non-drum music has absolutely no impact on their worth as a drummer. Going by that logic, Billy Corgan (an un-remarkable drummer) would be considered a great drummer because he wrote all the songs and riffs for Smashing Pumpkins.

Well I can play drums like Travis. That's why people would always be like your doing a Travis barker impression. Anyway people hat cause hes paid and shit. Hes still good so chill out. Of course there are crazier drummers from different back grounds out there but why do people compare shit all the time. People have different paths and shit. I can honestly say Travis Barker is not the best. Everyone thinks he does "drum solo's", but he really doesn't. He plays beats. Yes they are very good, but come on, they are not real drum solo's. Drum solo's are just going full out crazy without a song backing it up. And let's be realistic on this one, he is also not the best drummer either. I can name 5 drummers right now. He is very good, but not the best. And this is coming from a drummer, so I have room to speak.
