  • The whole point being to de-humanize and de-individualize a person; cutting your hair off, all wearing the same uniform, not to think for yourself...to follow commands without question. We find this in all institutions; look at "corporate america" who the hell decided that wearing "suits" with an effin "tie" around your neck is what you should wear and all of these people just "do it??"   • they were soldiers half of the year and citizens the other half. Of course there were generals and other leaders of sorts. but the basic whole of the army was roman citizens.
