Now - please tell me....why should a gay person be FORCED to pay school taxes? You do not have kids, cannot produce them, and are often NOT ALLOWED to adopt. So there is NO way that the school can benefit you, in any way. You are being made to pay...for someone else's spawn.
Yet you are forbidden to have that (adopted child) for which school taxes are collected?
Well it's called EQUAL RIGHTS...you know...that thing we're trying to fight for right now. Some homosexuals do get the right to adopt and they're grateful for taxes and just because you can't procreate doesn't mean that you shouldn't be treated as an equal...that would mean that you're a hypocrite.
How much of being gay is nature and how much is nurture? If it's even a little bit nurture, I don't want my kids being exposed to it until they are near adult age.
Nurture has nothing to do with it. It's something that is embedded in you. You either know that you are or that you're not. There was a study done on twins raised in the same conditions, and only one is gay. It really has nothing to do with how you're raised. And, frankly, your children SHOULD be exposed to it. It will make them more open minded, accepting people. They'll figure out what being gay means on their own, the same way they know what sex is before they get "the talk". It's unavoidable
Continuation.... I have a problem with the term "exposed"...You act as if it is an epidemic. You are talking about over 10% of the population. There's no possible way to prevent your child from knowing about gay people when they are very much a part of culture and society. Don't treat being gay like it's a bad thing. It's just another part of life that everyone needs to accept the existence of. It will not change. It will not magically disappear. Just deal with it. Learn to accept it.
I grew up in a medium size city in Michigan and I did not know about gay people until I was in high school. It was just not something that ever came up.
However that is not what I meant by "exposed" to it. I meant someone that is gay flirting with someone that isn't. Peer preasure is a very common thing, and I am sure there are people that feel preasure to do something with a gay person even though they wouldn't naturally want to.
A kid should be older before they are exposed to that crap.
While I can see your point about peer pressure, I still don't think it's as big of a concern as you're making it. You cannot "turn" someone gay. That's absurd. A gay person flirting with your child will not make he or she gay. Keep in mind, your child will receive just as much if not more pressure from the opposite gender about sex. It's not at all likely that your child will be pressured into being gay. Most of the time, a gay person wont flirt if they know the person is straight.
You do not 'turn' someone gay. It is complex combo of emotional & psychological factors which make someone gay. Abuse (physical, mental, emotional, sexual) in early childhood can be a contributing factor. It is NOT the person's 'fault', and to be gay is thus morally neutral of itself. It is not a 'choice'.
Indeed - kids get flirted with by both sexes. True: a gay person usually wont flirt if they know the person is str8.
Agreed with all you say - good points!

How is this in any way fair?
