I'll be darned, it does mention diesel and even has a fuel guage. I remember the worst thing about riding these things is the periodic times the poles jumped the wires and we had to wait for the driver to re-align them. But they were quieter than a streetcar IIRC. You'd have thought that with modern gas prices they'd be kept and the all-diesel buses would be scrapped.
Hi all, the reason behind putting the diesel engine on the bus was for emergency purposes. If the overhead power was to be lost the driver could turn the engine on and bring the bus into a garage. It was not meant to carry passengers while running the diesel. It wasn't a powerful enough engine.
Thanks for visiting the museum and helping promote us!
Glad to see a few of the Hamilton trackless trolleys were saved. I'll bet they're sorry now that they got rid of them, with the prices of fuel these days. I took movies of the Brills and original Flyers in Hamilton, during the transition period.
Thanks for putting this video up, it brings back so many memories! growing up riding the trolley buses!
The Diesel engine could also move the bus, when the trolley wires were not connected, I've had friends that used to drive these buses, long since retired now...
Yeah...that's interesting for putting diesel engine on trolley bus...I think it's for heating purpose or something...I've never driven any of these...so no idea...thanks for watching

Interesting bus. Diesel engine on a trolley? Is this like a hybrid which can run on diesel or wires?
