  • I liked it. Helpful for people who've only just discovered the story!

  • Please note an incorrect designation here. The correct gender typology of the SIMORGH (Queen of Gryphons) in Persian literature is supposed to be female and not male. As such referring to the SIMORGH as 'he' is wrong. First, there is no masculine pronoun in Persian. Second, in Mazdean lore as Saena/Senmorv, in Ferdowsi and in 'Attar, the SIMORGH is explicitly noted as female and not male.

  • Attar, the great Persian poet and philosopher was immensely inspired by the concept of emanation when he composed this magnificently meaningful work of literature. Attar, like Rumi and Hafez did not believe in a personal or personified god and in that sense they never followed any religious doctrine. This poem is not about finding god or a certain deity; it is about discovering the the GREAT I, which is energetically present inside of any entity in this vast universe. I AM ME I AM FREE.

  • @khashayar44, Khashayar jaan, Fariduddin 'Attar was a Sufi. He did not subscribe to a narrow concept of a personal God that most common believers and religionists believed in. But as a Sufi he absolutely subscribed to a notion of a personal God, but one far more finessed than the aforementioned. Every emanation is a theophany and the theophanies of the One are endless. Yet every theophany turned to a specifc locus of manifestation becomes, as it were, a Face (symbolically speaking).

  • @khashayar44, that specific, archetypal divine Face turned to its locus - i.e. the soul of the wayfarer (salik) - is the concept of the personal God that Sufis subscribe to.

  • I watched this at school and i was thiniing... holy shity this shit is trippy

  • 1. Too cartoonish.

    2. No credits to ATTAR, original author of the story.

  • Yes, as we come to understand, know what all the symbolism points to, we be there, or is it here?

  • Thanks for posting this! Who provides the voice of Hawk? I'm sure I recognise that voice but I can't remember where from.
