Kordestan is a city in Iran. Just like a person may be named Shirazi may be from Shiraz or Mashady may be from Mashad or Ardebili may be from Ardebil... Kordestani is no doubt a real persian name since kurds don't have the male name Omid.. :)

Much agreed! Maybe, I wasn't specific. I've nothing against the Kurds or any other ethnic groups in Iran. Whether we are Persians, Kurds, Azeris, Turkmens, Lurs, Baluchis, Mazandarians, Turks, Arabs or Bakhtiaris, we all represent the same country with glorious history and culture. In my previous comment, my point was that Omid Kordestani is born in Tehran, as he also mentioned in the video. His ancestors may well be Kurds from Iran, as his last name implies. But, still, he is born in Tehran.

It is shameful that Mr. Kordestani has not spoken on falsely portraying Persian Gulf as Arabian Gulf. Google needs to follow US Government and European Governments which call this most of part of these important regions which is called Persian Gulf. He just issued a statement by saying "our legal department working on it". This is truly shameful!

First of all, many thanks to Omid for his inspiring speech about life and its moments. I have been pondering about life and think this was a great analogy from a brave, innovative mind.
Secondly, to my fellow Iranians, Persian, Kurdish and ... friends: The ethnicity, labels and borders are all man made definitions that may not be true. My suggestion and I am sure what Omid meant is don't look at the limitations but at possibilities.

yeah, I have plenty of non-kurdish friends who are originally from hamedan, sharekord (etc)but aren't kurd. Except 1 of them who had a kurdish maternal grand-mother who was proud of being IRANIAN.
