  • I just searched on omid koordistani in wiki. You persian fucks are full of bull.

  • Omid kurdistani and slara kamangar are kurds that it. I'm self from kermanshan, we kurds prefare to be called kurds rather than iranian. The word iranian is just an assimilation method against other peoples in iran.

  • @PkkFreedomFighter

My friend you should not say this, this is very bad ........(((((((off you iranian nationalish here!)))))

I really strongly believe all Iranians love Kurds

  • @PkkFreedomFighter

My friend I agree with you, I hope one day very soon I see them vanish from the earth, I personally believe that Kurdestan should be a nation like Quebec in Canada, they should be able to teach their children their language in schools and they should be given a lot more rights , it is a shame on the history of Iran that for many many years they have been abused by Shah and By the Molahs .. Peace

  • @PkkFreedomFighter you should be ashamed of yourself for the comment you made. Be proud of your country Iran I myself love Kurds and I have so much respect for them all, If you are angry at the regime that is a different story, don't mix it up with the people of I ran and the country as a whole . Omid is taking pride for being an Iranian and I think you should too.... Peace

  • @PkkFreedomFighter When you don't know anything so fuck the shut up , Omid is a persian name (Iranian name) .

  • @PkkFreedomFighter That's your personal opinion. But, without any academic sources it means nothing. I can, for example make a claim that South Pole belongs to South Africa. But, it's nothing but a claim and really it means nothing. And as I said before, not every Iranian is into this ethnicity game you're pushing for. And, for the second time, take your game elsewhere.

  • @PkkFreedomFighter Why are you taking it personally? Why is him being an Iranian-born American citizen of Persian ethnicity such a bad thing? He has every right to call himself Persian Iranian, just like Salar Kamangar has every right to call himself Iranian Kurd. Excuse you, but who the hell are you to speak for Omid Kordestani or, any other Iranian, anyway? You are just yourself, so stop acting as a spokesman, okay? Not all Iranians are into playing ethnicity game. Take your game elsewhere!

  • @benjamin9047 fuck your mother

  • Boring speech but informative and inspiring..bravo

  • Iranians are the most successful minority in USA. Iranians consistently rank top 5 in universal science, math and computer Olympiads. Our students are some of the brightest in the world. Iran, recognized the oldest country in the work, we have a lot to be proud of. We have a lot of Omid's around.

  • We all should appreciate the name kordestani and for all of the achievements he has made with regards to google and shaping the way that we precieve and use technological communication today. Kurdish or not he has become a leading business man generating over 6 billion in revenue and that should be noted more

  • From Wikipedia under "Omid Kordestani" :

Due to his surname, he is sometimes mistakenly perceived as being a Kurd, but he is an ethnic Persian and speaks only English and his mothertongue, Persian, and he was born and grew up in Tehran.

  • does it fuckin matter if he kurd or irani? or what ever? he is giving a nice and strong message to the students and those who want to be some thing in future, fucking A omid, your da man

  • I also want to say.. IF YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU DON'T BELONG IN KURDISTAN (your own land) THEN YOU'RE DEFINITELY NOT A KURD =]

  • Hey guys.. I reallyyy think you should stop this fighting.. We're all Kurds and that's what should matter to us!! And F.Y.I. Ahmet Turk isn't a terrorist, he was trying to help the Kurdish community get their land back which has been PROVEN that it belongs to them anyway, the Turks just can't accept it =]

ALSO.. His last name was changed without permission when his parents went to get his passport done years back. This happens to 99.9% of Kurds that were/are born in Turkey. I've seen it happen!

  • i wish our Kurdish friends would stop claiming what's not theirs.

Have any of u heard of Shahr-e Kord in Iran? even though it's called that all it's people are Lor and Bakhtiari and not Kurdish. my parents are from shahr-e Kord. so names don't mean anything.

Omid was born in Tehran and his wife or ex-wife Beta is Iranian...so stop this nonsense now

  • This country is founded by CHRISTIAN IMMIGRANTS,for better living in the LORD WE TRUST.

  • Moeju I am Kurdish but I know most persians are decent people and would not agree with occupation of Kurdistan by iranian mulla regime,,,most decent persians are freedom loving people who love to see independat Kurdistan that include the part that is currently occupied by so called iranian islamic regime.

  • Omid should emphasise his Kurdish route more,,he is a wonderful guy,,Long live Kurdistan

  • perfect god man

  • we love kordestani

  • I'm Kurd

    I proud of you

  • wonderfull

    great man

    long live Kurdistan

  • This guy is great. I'm not saying that because I'm Persian, but I'm so proud of him. God Bless Him.

  • excellent work!

  • her bijî kurd û kurdistan !!!!

  • Hey guys STOP it , if his last name is kordestani it really does not mean he is kurd give it up just be proud he is like all of us a PERSIAN (or for those who prefer Iranian) i am kurd (my great grandpa and from Kermanshah) but i see myself as a PERSIAN and thats all .

so put aside your stupid fight and try to learn something from his speech .

god bless america and long live OMID e AZIZEMOON

  • you can be kurd and iranian, but not kurd and persian. doesnt make any sense, but be who you wanna be its your life, just dont put down kurds by calling our fight silly. We have a right to determine things ourselves, to learn our language, and raise our flag. We want no war with anybody, especially not iranians.

  • Iam so proud that a kurd is so successful ! Greetings from your kurdish brother from Halabja/Kermanshan!

  • omid got divorced poor guy cheated on his wife and wife married with a dr last week

  • jeeez

why are there so much hatred coments towards where he is from?

listen he is from my city in iran and i am kurdish NOT persian .. do u understand.. i bet u any money if he was poor then all u iranians would sey his kurdish but because his so rich u make the assumption that he is PERSIAN ONLY with no kurdish roots so u can look up to him and kiss his ass which is pathetic u bastards.

biji all ma kurds u make me proud

  • great man..we´re proud of you Mr.Kordestani

  • I found my AHA moment years back when I changed my course from physics to animation and visual effects. He is completely right.

As an Iranian and a Kurd, I'm proud of you Omid.

  • why let someone who wipes himself with SJSU resumes give the commencement? This man's company will never recruit at your school, SJSU. And he'll never donate, so quit kissing his ass.

  • Omid is a Kurd and an Iranian. I don't see why some have difficulty grasping it?

  • Due to his surname, he is sometimes mistakenly associated with Kordestan province, but he is an ethnic Persian and he grew up speaking Persian and English

    Source:Wikipedia

  • @kingdariusofpersia with a name like koerdistan it means you are either a koerd (kurd), from koerdistan province or kurdistan the country. remember kurds and iranians are closely related.

  • thanx 4 uploading this clip. very impressive and inspiring. for God`s sake listen to what he says. suppose he is from china to end this fight !

  • Very inspiring. A wonderful man with wonderful roots. I'm proud of you!

  • funny speach!

  • Its speech not speach :D funny comment :D

  • Such an amazing man,so much wisdom and intelligence.welldone.

  • Omid is kurd from Piranshahr And he is kurd not a persian

  • :)))) he said I m iraniannn =))) what a bulshit comment

  • i bet most of the people that comment here dont evenknow what he does and done, they all argue about the orgion of these guy, rather then talking about his achivement.

  • I don't this guy at all and I hate him to hell I wish he was dead and I don't care what people say, just so you know I'm not raging at you I'm expressing my opinion on this fag.

  • and whats your reason for hating him when you say you dont know him?

  • "Kurdestani is just a last name, relating to his families."

You just made a fool out of yourself, u reccon that right? If his family name is Kordestani that means he is kurdish originally, stop hunting for people who will make you more proud as a persian and realise the truth. You can always point at that persian comedian guy when people put you down.

  • sorry :D said I m persian ! so fucked all of your mamas :D

  • Thank you for posting. Was an awesome inspiring speech where he honestly shares his memories, ideas and feelings. He gives great personal stories, tips and words of wisdom.

Thanks for sharing. Omid is a great man.

  • Kordestan is a city in Iran. Just like a person may be named Shirazi may be from Shiraz or Mashady may be from Mashad or Ardebili may be from Ardebil... Kordestani is no doubt a real persian name since kurds don't have the male name Omid.. :)

  • Maybe you should get a little more 'illuminated' because Kordestan is not a city in Iran, its a region. For any of you dumbfucks who thinks he is something he is not use your brain!!! Kordestani is Kurdish, Like Azari means azeri turkish.. I'm from Mahabad, I know...

  • @illuminaintellectio what? are u crazy? Omid is a kurdish name too, it means hope

  • Please stop being childish about Mr. Kordestani being a Kurd or a Persian. I'm proud of the fact that he's a SJSU product (like me) who made it.

  • I hate this guy Kordestani so much I would seriously paid to get him wacked! I'm not having a crack at you I just simply hate him!

  • dont be obsessed ! you need some medical help , go and tell dr that you are SICK !

  • Very good presentation and great advice.

  • Omid Kordestani makes me proud to be a Persian!

And, to all those who brag about him being a Kurd, get a fuckin' clue! He said he was born in Tehran. Kurdestani is just a last name, relating to his families.

Oh, yes, it's called Persian Gulf..no rocket science there. Just look at the map, haha.

  • Listen asshole, you just dont allow us to be proud of anything - Yes he is from Iran, no he is not fars/persian. Being from a geographical territory doesnt make you persian. He is Kurdish Iranian. Fuck off

  • Neither Iran nor Persia would not exist without Kurds. There are 1.5 million Kurds living in Tehran. Born in Tehran would not make you Fars.

  • Much agreed! Maybe, I wasn't specific. I've nothing against the Kurds or any other ethnic groups in Iran. Whether we are Persians, Kurds, Azeris, Turkmens, Lurs, Baluchis, Mazandarians, Turks, Arabs or Bakhtiaris, we all represent the same country with glorious history and culture. In my previous comment, my point was that Omid Kordestani is born in Tehran, as he also mentioned in the video. His ancestors may well be Kurds from Iran, as his last name implies. But, still, he is born in Tehran.

  • Kurds and Persians are from the same original (not that many years) ethnicity

  • It is shameful that Mr. Kordestani has not spoken on falsely portraying Persian Gulf as Arabian Gulf. Google needs to follow US Government and European Governments which call this most of part of these important regions which is called Persian Gulf. He just issued a statement by saying "our legal department working on it". This is truly shameful!

  • For those who make a negative comment on Mr. Kordestani's success!!! First of all, he doesn't have to appologize for his great achivements in life, second He's one of the best in the world!!!

  • Persian Gulf is PERSIAN for ever. Despite what Google is bribed to say!

  • is he Persian???? sad!!!... his company is pioneer in using Arabian name for Persian Gulf, WHY?? do arabs bribe Google???

  • You make all Iranians proud.

  • well I have many Iranian Kurdish relatives, and I am like of all Iranian Kurds. I'm not racist dude. That is his ethnicity not his nationality, since there is no Kurdish state at least at this moment. Its like saying hey this guy is a Latino or Asian and therefor can not be American.

  • Finally some one with a brain. Thank you!

  • Genius, Kurds are not Persian but are Iranians.

  • Persia (Parsa) = Iran :)

  • Immigrants from Iran happen to be one of the most successful immigrants in America. This is because of the great emphasis that Iranians put in the pursuit of knowledge, education, and success. My other theory is about the failure of the US sanctions on Iran. This sanction has encouraged the Iranians to be self sufficient and motivated in entrepreneurship. The Aryan gene may also have something to do with the degree of intelligence in its people.

  • "The Aryan gene may also have something to do with the degree of intelligence in its people."

That has to be one of the most ignorant statements I have ever read.

  • ATTENTION ATTENTION, for the ones who need some lessons: 'kordestani' is just a family name. As he mentioned in his speech he's born and lived in tehran-iran. full stop.

  • His last name is Kordestani but he was born in Tehran, since there's no country called Kurdistan, it's not a nationality, it's a race.

  • Improve your knowledge, its good for you, its shame people read your comment and start laughing at it. Sorry abt that.

  • oh wow, dude u have too much hate in u!! get some help. as everyone else explained thats just a last name, and even if it wasnt still only a retard could have hate towards success of others!

  • He was as big of a gentleman in junior high as he is now...Viva Don Bosco (Andisheh)

  • He was as big of a gentleman in junior high as he is now...Viva Don Bosco (Andisheh)

  • The COMMENTS here are VERY FUNNY.

People keep saying,"HE IS IRANIAN", "NO, HE IS KORDISH", "NO, HE IS IRANIAN", "NO, I SAID HE IS KORDISH". You people MAKE ME LAUGH.

Who cares where he is from. He is a person who has accomplished a lot during his life. He has a positive attitude and believes in himself. He is an example that proves that hard work pays off.

  • ya dude, hopefully they'll grow up one day.

  • awesome

  • I was proud and excited to hear your amazing speech. I wish you more and more success!

  • Thank You Omid, I really got many points from your words; such as Making Decision with your Heart, do not limit yourself with certificate that you got...

    Major Keyvan Nourhaghighi

  • loser all over Iran and they made it outside and as usual we all come from Tehran!. we are still 3000 years back.!

lets be understanding and accept that someone else have gone further in life! like Omid. Move ON>>>......IRAN.!

  • First of all, many thanks to Omid for his inspiring speech about life and its moments. I have been pondering about life and think this was a great analogy from a brave, innovative mind.

Secondly, to my fellow Iranians, Persian, Kurdish and ... friends: The ethnicity, labels and borders are all man made definitions that may not be true. My suggestion and I am sure what Omid meant is don't look at the limitations but at possibilities.

  • They are still hanging people in the streets of Iran for public viewing for unknown crimes in droves. Let's see if he will spend a dime to free his homeland.

  • "Let's see if he will spend a dime to free his homeland"

you are advocating rich people manipulating the politics of a sovereign nation?

presently he contributes billions in taxes to GWBs insane plans [including nukeing tehran]

the iranian people will only tolerate the mullahs a little longer anyway.

"still hanging people in the streets"

plenty of amerikans would like to be able to do that & get away with it

public pressure took down apartheid in s.afrika & it can happen in iran the same way

  • why he should money to free his homeland, when itsalready free.

  • Great speech

  • what's wrong with my people ?? if you ask them " where were you born ? they will tell you " i was born in Tehran " and if you ask them " which part of Tehran?" probaly they will tell you " nivaran ". so we have 70 million iranian living in Nivaran. back to Omid Kordestani's speech , he EVEN was not born in Tehran , he was born in Piranshahr , which located it in West Azarbaijan.

  • I have to write in Farsi :

  • Excellent Speech Omid. We are proud of you.

  • all human beings are proud of him. As well as all Kurdish and Turk and Lor and ... Persians of cours. Iranians, Americans and all other nations are proud of him not because of his nationality but because of the things he has done for all heuman beings. Most of the credits will go to Americans before Iranians who made it possible for him to grow. I am an Iranian by the way and I love Iran.

    Thank you
